So here's my honest take on VSCO after using it for a while. I've tried probably a dozen photo editors and this one's definitely in my top 3. The presets are actually good - they don't make everything look orange or over-saturated like some apps do. The AL3 filter alone is worth the download honestly. But I will say the subscription model kinda bugs me. Like, you get some free presets but all the really good ones are behind the paywall. And the community side is nice but it's not as active as it used to be. Still, for pure photo editing quality, it's hard to beat. I keep coming back to it when I want my photos to look pro without spending hours editing.

Pros

  • Presets actually make photos look professional without being cheesy
  • Community is pretty supportive and not toxic like some platforms
  • Clean interface that's easy to navigate
  • Manual editing tools are surprisingly powerful
  • Doesn't compress your photos into oblivion like some apps

Cons

  • Most of the good presets require a paid subscription
  • Free version feels pretty limited compared to what it used to be
  • Community engagement has dropped off in recent years
  • Can be overwhelming if you're just looking for quick edits

Description

Been using VSCO for about a year now, mostly for editing travel photos and food shots. It’s basically a photo editing app that’s way more polished than your typical Instagram filters. What I like is it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to be a social media platform first – it’s actually about making your photos look good.

Here’s how it works: you import photos and there’s this massive library of presets (they call them VSCO presets). The AL3 one’s my favorite – makes outdoor shots look amazing without looking over-edited. And there’s also manual editing tools if you wanna get fancy with exposure, contrast, all that stuff. And the community aspect is pretty cool – you can share your edits and see what other people are creating without all the pressure of likes and comments.

If you’re into photography or just want your photos to look more professional, VSCO’s worth checking out. It’s not perfect – some features are locked behind a paywall and the free version’s a bit limited – but the editing tools are legit. I’d say it’s better than most free editors out there if you’re serious about your photos.

Perfect for creating cohesive Instagram feeds. The C1 preset is literally my life!

Love the editing tools but wish there was a better organization system for saved presets. Otherwise great app for both amateur and serious photographers.

The best editing app for achieving that film look! The community features are great too - lots of inspiration from other photographers.
