So here's my honest take on Resprite: pixel art studio. I've tested a bunch of pixel art and game graphics apps, and this one's pretty darn good. The feature set is really impressive for a mobile app - it can do pretty much anything a desktop pixel art tool can do. And the interface is intuitive and the performance is fantastic. I do wish there were a few more tutorial resources for beginners, but the core tools are easy enough to figure out. Compared to other mobile options, this one stands out with its robust toolset and lack of paywalls or aggressive monetization. Not gonna lie, it's become my go-to pixel art app on the go.

Pros

  • Tons of strategic depth without being overwhelming
  • Graphics look great and run smooth on older phones
  • Free to play, don't need to spend money to enjoy it
  • Powerful tools like layers, timeline, and Vulkan rendering
  • Good for both quick sketches and full game art projects

Cons

  • Could use more tutorial resources for beginners
  • Occasional bugs and crashes, though not too frequent
  • Exporting options are a bit limited
  • Gets repetitive after a while if you're just messing around

Description

Been using Resprite: pixel art studio for a couple months now. It’s basically a powerful pixel art and sprite animation editor. Pretty solid app if you’re into making game graphics or just messing around with pixel art.

Here’s what you can do: there’s a full-featured pixel painting tool with layers and a timeline. You can create pixel art, spritesheets, GIFs, and all kinds of game art assets. It’s got some advanced features like a Vulkan-based rendering engine that makes everything run super smooth. Took me a while to figure out all the tools but it’s pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it.

Look, if you’re into pixel art or making game graphics on your phone, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – there are a few bugs here and there – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you’re looking for a capable mobile pixel art studio.

Great alternative to aseprite for mobile, although some features locked behind the paywall shouldn't be behind a paywall and that $17 is a bit high for a mobile app.

Wonderful app! Insanely feature-rich, very snappy & customizable. One thing I would like to have is the ability to move my tools to the bottom or to the right of...

I really like the UI design, and the responsiveness with my Samsung Note 20 S Pen is far better than Pixel Studio. My biggest gripes with this app is how...
