So here's my honest take on Hush: Android Auto Audio Fix. I've tested a bunch of different Android Auto companion apps and this one's pretty solid. The core feature of fixing that annoying audio switching issue works really well in my experience. It's saved me from a lot of sudden volume spikes while driving. The app is simple and easy to use too, doesn't try to do too much. On the downside, I have noticed some occasional glitches where it doesn't play nice with certain audio apps. And the UI is a little basic. But for the core problem it solves, I'd say it's one of the better options out there. If Android Auto audio troubles have been bugging you, Hush is definitely worth a try.

Description

I’ve been using Hush: Android Auto Audio Fix for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that solves a really annoying problem with Android Auto. See, sometimes when you’re using Android Auto, if you change the volume while listening to an audio app that’s not supported by Android Auto, it’ll switch back to the last Android Auto-compatible app you were using. So you could be listening to a nice quiet podcast on YouTube and then BOOM, ear-shattering Spotify music blasts through your speakers. Not cool, especially when you’re driving.

Hush fixes this by playing a silent audio track on repeat in the background. So no matter what audio app you have running, it’ll keep the volume levels consistent and you won’t get that sudden jump in audio. There’s also a few other Android Auto-related issues it addresses, like making sure your audio stays routed properly. Pretty handy if you use Android Auto a lot.

Look, if you drive with Android Auto regularly, you’ll probably appreciate having Hush. It’s not perfect – every now and then I’ve had it get a little glitchy – but overall it does the job and keeps your audio sane. Worth checking out if it’s been driving you crazy like it was for me.
