So here's my honest take on JoyLit. I've tested a bunch of reading and strategy apps, and this one's a pretty solid combo of the two. The core gameplay loop of building up your village and battling other players is really addictive, and the clan wars add a nice social element. Compared to similar games, the progression and upgrade system feels a bit grindy, but it's still fun overall. If you don't mind the occasional ad, this is a great way to get your strategy and reading fix in one app.

Description

Been using JoyLit for a couple months now. It’s basically a novel reading app, but with a ton of strategy game elements. Pretty solid if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you can build up your own little village, train up an army, and then raid other players’ bases. There’s also clan wars, where you team up with friends to take down rival clans. It’s got a good amount of depth without being too complicated.

Look, if you’re into strategy games and reading novels, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the upgrades take forever at higher levels and the ads can get annoying – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.

The stories are great, but there are some stories with significant amounts of grammar mistakes, whether they be punctuation, spelling, or improper speech. Some even have all the above. Then...

The selection can be pretty good, but some authors definitely needed someone to double check their work. Incorrect pronouns, misspelled words, incorrect POV, etc. happen more often in some books...

I got sucked in by an interesting story (in isolation I'd rate it 3 or 4 stars) , but the app is terrible enough I'd only give it 1 star....
