Reviews for AF App

← Back to AF App

Talk about disappointing. Got the app because I started working at an AF and it's unacceptably bad. The guided workouts act like a circuit when you don't want that type of workout. Logging sets and trying to use the rest timer is unreliable, and often will mark a set done prematurely. For a gym that asks for $100 a month this app is laughable and only good to see how many people are at your gym. Can't even make my own workout out of the options in the app. Do better.

Crashes too often! Slow to load. Has "needed" improvements that would make it more user friendly. Not sure why we log our reps & weight lifted? There is no usable history to see how much we lifted last time so can't see if we are progressing. Too many exercises like hammer curls, reverse curls and high pulls gave me tennis elbow! Other than that, app is pretty flexible and easy to use.

Removed access to all previously saved workouts and logs. The previous app is no longer supported, and there doesn't seem to be any way to access any of my completed workouts. If they were going to force this update, they should have at least included a way to transfer your workouts. This was made worse since there was no notification that it would happen, and I only found out when trying to start my first workout this week.

Terrible app, can't customize at all. I have no idea why the app creator thinks it knows more about what I need in a workout than I do. Much prefer the other anytime workout app, but they seem to be phasing it out. Support doesn't respond to my requests for help. I also don't know why the play store gives this such a high rating/review. I counted 3 times as many ones than five star reviews. I like the anytime gym I workout in, but it may be time to find a new gym.

The new AF app only tracks gym checkins, which makes it worthless. There's no way to input exercises, weight loss or tracking your sets/reps. It only syncs with a Google fit or body scan account so if you don't have either one of those, don't bother using this unless you are interested in how many times you go to the gym. Thankfully I have a great fitness app that works with my watch. It tracks my sleep, daily weigh in, exercises, intensity, HR, and lots more.

Doesn't work: even though I am a full, paid-up member of an Anytime Fitness gym, it says it can't find me. I have checked with my local gym & they say everything looks fine. Supposedly you can use it in a limited way even if you are not a member. But you have to spend 15 minutes entering information first. I never succeeded in getting past the set up.

I just love everything about the app, especially the workouts created within the app. The only downside, is that in the middle of workouts, the app frequently stops and closes on me. And it doesn't remember where I was, and by the time I click through all the ones I already did, it closes on me again. I can skip that, but then it won't log that I finished.

Good for letting you know how busy your gym is at any given time of the day, but as of about a month ago this app for some reason got glitchy as to tracking gym visits. Every fourth month of this past year now shows zero visits to the gym. I go to the gym at least 28 out of 30-31 days every month and all those visits have disappeared from the log. So it's best to track your visits yourself as this app has a bug that isn't being fixed.

I like the automatic planning with the new app but there are a lot of things I miss about the old version such as being able to search specific exercises easily. I also don't like that the workout stops logging if you navigate to another screen. This is a terrible feature as it should be able to continue running in the background. If they could bring back easily browsing individual exercises and run in the background this would be a 5 star app.

A workout app that doesn't let you customize your workout. Because that's super helpful. I was hoping to use this app now that we have to switch gyms to Anytime, but I'll be staying with the app we currently use. Can edit equipment, warm ups and cool downs, and everything in between like swapping and rearranging exercises and adjusting reps and sets, etc.

Hate the latest version of the app. Very buggy. I get a lot of "It isn't you, it's us" connection errors. Anywhere from 3 to 16 per session. The app used to give you options for many of the exercises in the particular facility that didn't have a certain piece of equipment. I would also like to see an option to thumbs down a particular recommended exercise because it is either too difficult or you are unable to do it. As it is now, the app only allows you to thumbs up an exercise.

Worked great for the first couple weeks then lost all my workouts in my plan. The same thing was happening to others so it wasnt user error. IT support is a joke. They couldn't even look at the problem and auto closed my ticket. When I asked for a clear answer on what the issue was and if the app was going to be reliable in the future they forwarded me to customer support so I could close my membership. I wasn't going to but I might now.

Pretty handy and easy to use app! Helps make the gym routine easier to follow, gives very helpful tips every day on how to be healthier. Sometimes, it bugs out during the workout, and the videos of the proper technique will freeze or not generally load, but I find opening the app fresh each workout and staying in it helps alleviate that, mostly. I'm looking forward to meeting my fitness goals through this gym!

Previous version allowed full customization of apps. Now you're locked in to pre-fabricated workouts that don't fit my personal needs / goals. Even with the survey I took, the routine is far from what I am looking for. Other apps for workout planning and tracking are more suitable. Only upside to the app is the digital key, but even that is limiting. If I want to use the digital key, I have to forfeit my physical one.

Worked better when I first installed earlier this year. Frequently got the it's not you it's us message when opening the app but once dismissed it worked alright. Today exercises wouldn't load, then I couldn't view past exercises. I figured maybe there was an update. Now even less information about the exercises loads and I get a blank white screen when looking at past of future exercises with no way to start an exercise routine. lmbo Just checked again and less and less is loading.

The original applications were far better...you could track progress, pick your plan, and a lot easier to move around in. You could make your own workouts based on what you needed, and trainers could send their workouts to you. With the new app, it makes the workout for you, there is no way to track progress , and no way to revise it. The only thing that app does better is when using the treadmill and the elliptical.

I cannot customize a workout. I tried setting a workout plan, but it keeps changing the next workout format. I put the plan settings on easy (light) because I am just starting and don't want to hurt myself doing too much. Each time I open a workout, the setting is set to medium. I tried setting up a full body workout, but instead the workout resets to upper body.

Update: for a while this seemed to be fixed, but now it is broken again! Two stars to get your attention. Finding that the app has changed recently for the worse. When I do a workout with multiple timed intervals (like on the treadmill), it no longer starts the timer for the next set. I have gone much longer than the set interval because I didn't notice that the timer had not started. please fix.

When you open the app, you have to give it information rather than just being able to check account info. I don't appreciate having to take the time to fill out unneeded info like weight. I have other apps. Anytime Fitness will also not turn off auto renew after you go into your home gym. Take caution if you choose Anytime Fittness. They are very sketchy when you decide to cancel and may try to entrap you into another contract.

Good app that performs basic features consistently. really could use a widget for Android. The ability to glance at my phone and see how many people are at the gym would be invaluable for the convenience of knowing when I can go to the gym. people who go to anytime fitness are more likely to go at flexible and varied times. this would just make sense as a feature. when this is added I would raise it five stars for what it is.
