I'm only on day 2 visiting this app and I'm actually writing notes in my journal because this is truly helpful for someone like me. I have been an addict since I was 13 years old. 22 years later I am finally on a sobriety path but have no control of emotions, temper, etc. I am a child at 35 years old but this app is truly amazing so far. it's gonna keep me sober because I'll be able to manage one thing I never had control over.
Reviews for Ahead: Emotions Coach
← Back to Ahead: Emotions Coachonly used the app less than an hour, but does seem promising. Wish there was a monthly payment option instead of a yearly. easier for some of us to pay 6 a month than 60 at one time for a year especially not knowing if I'll like it enough to use it for a year.
not giving 5 stars yet, since it's too soon to know how effective this will be; but I'm enjoying the bite-size lessons, which are easy to understand and absorb, without feeling overwhelming or tedious. so far this app has done a better job of talking me through emotional regulation than a therapist ever has! it's frustrating to hear the same advice over and over with no additional context; Ahead actually explains HOW to help the strategies stick, and why they might be difficult at first...
The app itself is easy to navigate. This app does require a subscription after either the free 7 day trial or the 30 days for $4.99. The lessons it teaches make sense and is CBT based. It does have cute interaction screens. I see a therapist weekly and anxiety medication so I would like something else to add to the routine.
So far, so good. I like the structure of the reading portions and the check-in questions they add in to ensure I'm retaining the information. It has a different approach than other MH apps I've used. The research is noticeable and digestible. (I haven't experienced it outside my free trial. Hopefully, it doesn't throttle progression when not paid for)
I'm pleasantly surprised at the efficacy of this app. Using it for the breakup emotional regulation and it's been really helpful. The interactive pieces are varied so it keeps attention. The brain science is helpful and informative. The exercises are helpful! I love the widget option. I wish there was more ability to edit journal entries and titles but I'm really happy with it overall. As someone who does not journal, the questions and prompts are introspective and useful. Recommended fully!
Wasnt for me, but the worst part is they give you ZERO heads up when your subscription is about to renew. So when you use the app for a week after paying for it and then decide its not for you, they wait the next 11 weeks and slapp you with a bill as a reminder to cancel and will not refund. Do not recommend due to deceptive business practices.
I enjoy using this app, I have paid for a year subscription. I just finished the positivity section, but I wish there was an option to reset my progress on it or something so I can redo it and have it remember which ones I've redone (like a gold tick instead of purple for the ones done again). The customer service isn't good, I emailed asking how to access the check in page as I have achievements for check in which remains empty as I can't find it, but no one gets back to me.But content is good
You need to purchase a plan after using the 7 day free trial. While I understand an ad supported version would require you to disclose user data, this unfortunately makes this app inaccessible to many people, including those who need it most. I hope you're able to create an version for people who cannot pay for a subscription. This is unfortunate because this app seems great for helping you or your child understand emotions on a deeper level.
False advertising– there's no free plan, you have to pay to access any of the features. sad, because I really thought it might be helpful, but I refuse to pay another subscription; I would have considered a one time payment, but subs are ridiculous. Uninstalled immediately once they asked for payment details.
The "Ahead" app is great for having resources in your pocket when in need of help with anxiety & managing emotions. I have learned quite a bit in a short time. Lessons & tools I will actually use in my day to day life. I only wish they had a program for those in serious need & struggling financially, to be able to access the program at either a discounted rate, or give so many away for free every month, or year. I am in serious need of all the help I can get but am not financially able to pay.
Update: I was able to get refunded! It took time but was the same person responding. Originally I started a trial through their site that auto charged me a quarterly subscription. I contacted Google and they couldn't find the purchase. It was a headache trying to find out HOW to cancel it. I am still locked out of the app but thankful they could refund me since I only had it for one day. I's not for me. The skills are things I know and I don't like being forced into prompts.
Beware of buying a subscription. I purchased a subscription on their website which advertised a free trial. It turns out because it was on the website and had a discount, the trial wasn't included. I tried the app and found it to be very surface level and juvenile, so I wanted to cancel the subscription. I received an email saying they cannot offer refunds on digital content subscriptions. So they advertise a free trial, don't give one and then won't give refunds if you don't like the app.
I was excited to try this...looks like it could be beneficial. nothing states that they are forcing you to do a 7 day free trial followed by a yearly subscription. it feels deceptive when these apps are free to download and start, and then they dont have a free limited version of the app, they require a subscription to even use it. yes, you can cancel at any time, but Im not inclined to sign up if you're forcing me to subscribe before I know what you do or what you're trying to teach me....
Stuck at 73% completed for anxiety for weeks. I've been doing the same activity over and over every day because it's like the app is stuck and won't go any further. I tried to send an email to figure this out and thought it went through on the computer, but guess it didn't. I feel like the only thing to do might be uninstall and reinstall but I don't want to change losing all of my progress just in case. It's a decent app that's a cute way to be mindful every day for a few minutes, but glitches.
Great app to get started on a mental health journey. While it couldn't replace talk therapy, it's a great place to start for folks who might not feel ready or don't have access to it, or in between sessions. Doesn't take too much time and you don't feel like you're just getting generic information. I really liked that they also give you the links to the academic papers that they are basing the lessons off of. The app is beautiful made and clearly created by mental health professionals.
I just started using Ahead and so far I have learned a few ways to help stop my procrastination in its steps but can't really say it's working as I haven't had a chance to use it. just from using the app for this small amount of time though, I can tell the people who made it truly care and really want to help and that over time it could become very beneficial to so many people. what do you have to lose? if your already suffering, taking steps to minimize that can't hurt you! it can only help!!
It works, so far, and seems to be calming me down. Unfortunately it's not free, you have to pay a subscription. Which is disappointing, because I can't afford any subscriptions and I'm sure there others in the same boat as me. You get a 7 day free trial, the 5th day they alert you and then the 7th they charge you. It would be nice if this app had sponsorships or a longer free trial, much like the Self care app Finch does.
The app is fine. It's a little too cutesy for me. But trying to cancel is extremely annoying. I tried to cancel my membership from within the app. The cancel button sent me to my subscriptions and the Ahead subscription was not listed there so I figured I might have already cancelled. I ended up getting charged for a second quarter after barely using the app. It's super scummy behavior to keep you enrolled in autopay or incompetent engineering.
Scam with questionable billing practices. I apparently downloaded the app and was charged a subscription. Ok that's fair, sure.. They then auto-renewed that subscription with no reminder and are "unable to give refunds". They provided a screenshot which shows I've never used the app other than when I reopened it because I didn't recall purchasing it. VERY questionable and problematic billing practices. They should, at minimum, send you a reminder you are going to be charged again.
