Just got this app the other day and so far have been loving it. it has all the options that ai want and need in audiobook app. I want to be able to speed or slow down the reading, have the ability to bookmark with notes, skip ahead easily or go back. It also has a sleep timer. I dont use this normally but think that I am going to start using it so that when I fall asleep, I dont have to go back so often ;). Really like the dashboard options for this app. Easy to access and use, what you need.
Reviews for Audiobooks.com: Books & More
← Back to Audiobooks.com: Books & MoreOverall good app. Biggest gripe is that the audiobooks (or at least the ones I have listened to) don't give the option to go to a certain chapter so you just have to approximate where you think the chapters are. Also I would like to delete the downloads to free up space on my phone. Aside from those two limitations, the app works well and offers a good selection of media.
Great audiobook app. I wish it showed names for the chapters or if you could change the rewind or fast forward to 10 sec. Other than that, I enjoy using it for my Audiobooks. 8/13 update: Thanks to the awesome, cool developers, I finally figured out how to change my rewind/fast forward!! Thank yall so much, that was very helpful. 5 stars!!! I'm currently listening to "The Action Bible" 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
decent price and large selection of books. The only downside is that you can only listen to 1 VIP book per month in addition to your 1 credit (up to 2 books total). With audible, you can listen to as many as you want. However, I personally think that audiobooks has a better selection of VIP books vs. the books that are included (at no additional cost) with an audible subscription.
I like the variety of audiobooks. The audio player is okay but I wish there was a 30 second rewind in the notification, status bar. I like to listen to audiobooks while doing things sometimes and I have to open the app to rewind. I also hate that even though you purchased the audiobooks they're not available offline. Which is a major inconvenience. If these problems were fixed it would be so much better.
I just signed up for this service. It seems very self-explanatory and easy to use. The only thing I would change with the book I am currently listening to is to have the tracks line up with the exact chapters as I sometimes we'll do a hybrid of a physical book and the audio to supplement to get through quicker while commuting. I don't know if it's the app or the this particular book itself since I just started using it but that would be the only thing, I would have to change.
This is really a great app, easy to get addicted to. i was reading a book but was too busy to sit down. And read downloaded, the app picked right up where I left off. I love the different afflictions in the voice. The fact that voices actually changed with different characters to help you keep track of exactly what was going on and who was who
This app is simply awful. The player and interface is clunky, ugly (cover art pixelated), and buggy. 3x now just listening to my first book the app has glitched and erased my progress mid listen when I wasn't touching my phone and was on "track mode" so this should not even be possible. The app doesn't bother to use chapters and lists "tracks" instead so I have no idea where I was. It truly brings me back 20 years. I cannot wait to finish my book (if I even can) so I can get rid of this app.
Pleasantly surprised. I've been on audible for years now, but they recently didn't have a book I wanted. Audiobooks did, so here we are. It has all the same user friendly features as audible plus perks and deals for each month. I listen to a lot of audiobooks as my commute is an hour, one way. The only reason it's not 5 Stars is I'm still waiting for a club that has options for more book credits per month. Example: standard plan is $15/Mon for one credit or $20/Mon for 2 credits.
I signed up for this app to get a book that I was on hold for at the library that I wanted sooner. I was pleased to see that the introductory offer was one premium book and two VIP books. Truth be told, the VIP books are not super popular titles, but I found two that looked decent. I think the price is comparable to Audible, and the app is very easy to use. Technically, I haven't had any problems listening or retrieving the audio from my library. This is good for people who like audiobooks.
I can't download books or even chapters for offline listening so I'm reliant on the app's unknown buffering system. Once, for no reason, my place in the book was lost and it started me at the beginning. After hitting play, I have to wait between 5 and 30 seconds for the book to play The VIP credits can only be used on a few books, all pro-american propaganda. It's nice that it has a wide selection of books available with regular credits though -- *someone* needs to compete with Amazon
This App has fairly standard controls for seeking new titles, downloading, and settings for play. However, I found the controls for listening to a book not as easy to use as I would want. It may have been unique to the book I selected, but it was hard to match the Track to the physical book's Chapter. This was the only drawback. The audio, itself, was clear and the app functioned as expected in every other way.
Ap is fast and easy to use. I have one serious problem with the app. if you lose your place--and it's easy to lose your place on your phone--it's very hard to find it on this app, much harder than it has to be. I think it would be a better app if you had each chapter on a separate line so they would be easy to find. In addition, one book that I finished a year ago, I am unable to archive. the archive feature doesn't work if you have any time left on the book
I have listened to 4 books on this app so far (the face on the milk carton series) and really like it. The prices are affordable and the app is very easy to use. The loss of a star is just because the widget on my pull down menu only goes forward or back a chapter instead of rewinding 15 or 30 seconds which is a feature I use quite often. You can do this by opening the app but I prefer to do it more easily.
The quality of the audiobook I listened to was excellent. The issues I have are with the APP and Audiobook itself. 1) I could not find a section that had a list or could browse free audiobooks. 2) There either isn't, or I could not find a member option for unlimited books. For example, I was trying to listen to Tom Clancy books, but you have to pay for EVERY book individually. 3) I would have like to seen a genre option. 4) I like that the book I listened to was narrated by a human and not AI.
I wish this app worked better. Many of the books in the series I'm reading now have weird glitches where you miss part of the book. Some times the books don't download all the way and then you don't have access to it offline. When there is no Internet or cell service the app struggles to work, if it works at all. I'm just using up the remaining credits and trying something different. I have shared the issues with this app on more than one occasion.
Update; I just reinstalled the app, and resubscribed because it had a box set of book I couldn't find on the "other" popular app. I am very happ with that. The app plays well, I appreciate that I can download the book and play it at my leisure. I do not like that when I pause, and go to something else on my phone, the controls on the bar at the top of my phone disappear. That is why I gave it a 4, instead of a 5.
It's very frustrating. Why can't we update our payment methods WITHOUT having to subscribe? No offense, but your application has very limited audiobooks compared to Audible, it's NOT worth a monthly subscription, but to have my card on file to buy a book from time to time is worth it. Yet, I won't bother if I can't update my new card details within the next three weeks. I got a new card, and my old card is no longer valid.
It's a great app. it has a sleep timer, speed settings, and the option to create notes on a specific chapter. The only thing I had trouble with is that when I'm listening on my car speaker and I have to pause it, it doesn't play again on its own when I turn the system back on. Audible does this without a problem so I was pretty disappointed to have to pick up my phone while driving to resume my book.
The app is pretty clunky. Changing the speed is hit or miss. Sometimes it works and other times it says it's at 1.5 for example, but it's still at the default 1.0 when playing. Speed changes don't work at all when casting to a Google Home speaker either. Also, there needs to be a "Sleep Timer" for the end of the Chapter so I can have it auto stop at that point instead of trying to guess and have it go over or stop short.
