It used to be better. suddenly we can no longer control the order of zones - which in a case where ditch water comes and goes unpredictably, it's important to prioritize the needs of different water zones in different orders while limited water is available. Now with the new app update it always runs our zones 1-7 in that order no matter what you do. so the only way to do what we need to do is manually run one zone at a time. ...which somewhat defeats the purpose of a programmable timer.
Reviews for B-hyve
← Back to B-hyveI was having good success using this app as well as the hub. But over time it became very buggy. Hard to connect Bluetooth and other issues but with the recent update Bluetooth setup was quick and easy wifi hub setup. It's all up and running? I'll be watching and see and keep updating. Over the past five years I have been using Orbit products, and I owned two of these Bhyve timers. And I have recommended their products to many friends and family, Orbit is great at honoring their warranty.
Your android app for the 12 zone controller cuts off the last letter of the menu and zone names. Pretty much all last letters even when there is room on the screen. It's caused by font sizes on cell phones and tablets. I can use the smallest font, and it works, but the phone is near unusable for me. Other apps work fine, so i know it's the way you have written the appI have an a20 and a A12 tablet. Also tried on a S22 cell phone. Your app needs to adjust for fonts. Lots of white space
It has constant connectivity issues. Sometimes you can fix them by resetting other times it does nothing and there isn't anything customer service can do to get the unit to connect. If you want to track water usage using the water history and properly use the smart watering feature it's only going to work part of the time because it's not going to log watering in all the places it needs to so it'll water too often. As just a way to run the sprinklers on programs, it works fine.
They use a very unreliable weather forecast , but that wasn't too much of an issue when you could ignore it. Now with its increased focus on "green" we end up with a brown lawn. Now it only relies on the wrong weather forecast and ignores the data from the rain sensor,so if the forecast was wrong it would rain your lawn will dry. sure one can use manual programs, but what is the point of a (not so) smart controller? Will do replace it with either OpenSprinkler or Yardian that are much better.
What a nightmare this app has become, along with my XR device. About a week ago it stopped working... or should I say the sprinklers no longer come on, even though the app and device tell me it's running. Tried deleting the device and adding it again to my app, but now it won't reset. So I am doing great... Sprinklers won't come on. Device won't reset. Can't add the device again. Lawn is dying because there is no manual override.
Your latest update makes it hard to see the stations on the app when watering manually. Plus, it no longer waters in the order I select to manually water. It now always starts with Station #1. It does not matter if I select #8, then #4, then #7, in that order. It's going to start with #1 and count up. Last year, I never had this problem. I love this app. But HATE the new update!
the "smart" watering is a joke. we live in an area that gets tons of sun & is quite dry in the summer...yet you'd never know it based off the weather displayed in-app (always "rainy"). it lets you select a weather station nearby, yet I cannot find ANY weather report remotely close to what the app forecasts & keeps delaying sprinklers for. If I did not scale the weather delay function way back to nearly being off, the lawn would be crispy & my new trees on drip would be toast.
Haven't used it yet, but easy connections and mounting. Reasonable Bluetooth connection. However, the firmware update ran long, I'm not sure it's done yet. Also, manual watering is not possible to set up as a true manual option; it can only be set up for watering at specific times. There's no simple Run Now button. Also, I see no way to easily manually run one circuit during maintenance; you have to navigate to it. At least it should save me running from the spray head to the controller.
App simply does not work. Programs are set up to run every 3rd day. But when it's time to run, the app simply skips that interval and displays when it will run again... three days from now. So I have to water manually... every time. Even then, the display used to show status, but not anymore. Smart watering is off, no sensors are used, and it's set to ignore the weather forecast.
I don't usually rate apps. For such a brand name, you'd expect the app to be good, but it's horrible. The layout is unintuitive. Everything takes forever. Half the time it crashes when I open it the first time. It always takes forever to open. Switching between devices is slow. Why do I even have to switch between devices? Really really bad UI/UX design.
Pretty good auto watering system. Could use a better way to see a chart of the watering setup on multiple devices. My main gripe is that any rechargeable batteries are automatically flagged for low battery when they are fully charged. This could be added to future a software updates, so no excuse for not improving it.
It won't hold a Bluetooth connection. if you're trying to do any sort of manual watering you have to reconnect every time you want to turn the water on or off. The reconnection takes about a minute every time. There is zero online help without your model number. to get the model number you have to go outside and open the actual device. model number is not displayed anywhere in the app. Notifications do not work. The app and support for this product are both awful. enough said for now.
I love having this and being able to turn a zone on right in front of mw without running back and forth to the controller. I've had this for 1.5yrs and am pleased. Only disappointment is that you used to be able to have many more characters for zone names, now it's limited to 20. bring back more characters please!!!! I have many zones and need longer descriptors.
It's worked well for a couple months, no issues. Only complaint is that the software does not allow the sprinkler controllers or faucet controllers to be grouped and controlled together. I have five different devices i have to cycle between. Forced to control and program separately, and must manually ensure program times don't overlap. it's dumb.
The new unit works great. Easy to setup and maintain. Love how it delays watering due to the weather. I don't like to see people watering their yards when it rains, just a waste. One thing that I don't like and wish I could control is when Smart Watering is scheduled the same day/time of my programs. I have a well and can't afford to water 2 zones at the same time. Some kind of smarts needs to be added to prevent this from happening.
Software issues if changing schedules. It says it's connected and when the next session will start.... but it doesn't. It does nothing. There should be a more absolute procedure built into the system so that it walks the operator through completing the changes in all aspects. I do like how each program can have 4 time slots to run the designated times. Really helps running shorter sessions more often for new seeding/germination period.
Works quite well. The app is intuitive. There have been no ads, unlike other smart-home apps. The controller has been rock-solid for over a year. When adjusting sprinklers, I used to walk back and forth to the controller to turn valves on and off. That is no more - I can use my phone to activate individual valves. Setting and editing schedules is simple. The controller has a dial and display where changes can also be made, although generally I just use my phone. Excellent product.
I've had nothing but problems with this device for the last few months. I have two xr 8 zone timers, which both lost connection to the network recently. after trying over and over again I finally got them reconnected which only failed 2 weeks later. I can connect to Bluetooth every time. I have to do a power Cycle to get him to wake back up. what's interesting is one of them is flashing an error code saying it can't connect to the network yet the app says it's connected to the network.
The timer itself seems to work okay but my experience with the app has been negative. The device loses bluetooth connection with my phone once I go inside. This is probably why the company designed an addtional piece of equipment, called the Hub, to boost connection. you can purchase this for $30. It's the typical business model of today. Design a product with limited capabilities then up-charge for add ons. Man, consumers are stupid. Uninstalled app.
