Reviews for BandLab – Music Making Studio

This app was just about perfect for me, until I started working on a project that requires a tempo shift mid-song. The tempo changing functions are pretty clunky. You can't blanket alter the tempo of a specific section of a song, you have to do it by individual tracks. On the mobile app the tempo adjustment increments seem to be random so its almost impossible to line up multiple tracks perfectly. The web version isn't much better. I confess myself disappointed. Gonna try Cakewalk by Bandlab.

First day I found a pack I liked and made a banger out of it. Edit: I've been using this app for years now. it has helped me skyrocket my career. they now make you pay for a subscription to use the sounds they provide. I'm so disappointed in this app. I remember the sounds used to be free and there was no such thing as a subscription. Bandlab. with all due respect, you're becoming greedy.

today i opened the app and got hit with a popup to try a premium feature, a popup to buy a vacuum, a popup to buy premium, and a popup to rate the app all in about 5 seconds. The actual DAW itself is solid for a mobile app and (for now) ad free, but the ads are getting a little hard to deal with. I get they need to make money but at a certain point people are just going to stop using the app if they get an ad everytime they try to do anything.

this app is trash. freezes up and won't let you use the studio or even open it without it freezing, the studio is a 2/10, recording and editing is the most difficult part about it. it's supposed to be fun not irritating. I'm typing this just a few mins after I posted my review and after bandlab froze my phone and shut it off I open up the app to keep working on this song I've been working on for days on end its now all gone.

this is actually a very good daw. it offers so many plugins that work so well. mixing is easy, optimizing your mix even just down to the color of a track can be a little misleading at times but once you figure out their lingo and the tricks You'll realize how close this is to older daws like cubase. I haven't tried publishing but I have listened to a few of the other artists using this. I'd really like an easier way to listen to the genres I like. works great on a midpowered phone.

I've used Bandlab for a very long time now, and to see it slowly fall under paywalls is nothing short but disappointing. I didn't care about the updates that had happened over the years. Then, I saw that over 98% of my favorite samples go under a subscription was the final straw. I'm only giving this a two star rating because of the effects and auto tune, but I know very well that those are too going to be subscription based. I had my fun, but I wish NOT to continue with bandlab.

The constant pop-ups, people being slowly strong armed into paying for tools. I got it at the beginning, a few transaction offers for OPTIONAL tools that didn't impact overall musical development. but to pay for what was FORMER free samples and musical release. it's basically saying, "Buy our premium membership or have your music quality drop so bad you'll have to pay." it wreaks of the word "parasitic." and it tarnishes what the relationship the app had with those who've been using it up to now

Used to be so amazing but now it's fail safe so you don't lose your studio progress that seems good but it always loads if I left the app with studio open. Which means if I want to edit i have to go out of the studio to go back in. This was a pain figuring out. And let's not talk about the ads. Try to go to the library, it spends 10 seconds loading an ad above it. I'm skeptical when clicking because of pop up ads. All these new random glitches and bugs... Why change it? it was fine...

edited for more clarity. using any more than a couple audio channels produces constant glitching and stuttering. Layering vocals is impossible. It seems to happen when I do more than 3 vocal chains. Makes the app effectively useless. tried with an Xbox mic, my ATTUSB and a generic cordial microphone. All the same results. Very very bummed out. happy to pay for premium but can't with this issue.

Very unintuitive. I just wanted to edit a sound file. When I opened the program I encountered things completely unrelated to that simple intention. What was I staring at other people's profiles for? Are they going to edit my sound file for me, which I could have done if I had a completely normal computer instead of a damn phone? And for free, using Linux? I felt as though I had to explain why I was installing this app. it was for personal reasons and I shouldn't have to explain them to them.

I DID use this app, and would have loved to give it 5 stars, but they locked all of the samples behind a premium. I only use samples, so it's hard to continue using the app when the main thing I use is completely gone unless I pay an absurd amount of money. Another thing is goes through battery like it's nothing, I have to have my mobile device charging at all times to even use it. without the samples, its still a good app, but I personally have to find an alt or change the way I make music.

A lot of fun! I havent figured out how to sync the timing of all the tracks yet but it's user friendly for the most part. edit: 5 years later, still haven't figured out the latency issue. but also, did bandlab remove the feature to read lyrics while listening to music on the app??? 😭 that button randomly appeared for me one day and just as randomly disappeared. I thought I lost all of my lyrics!

I've spent years ,,, decades in all kinds if studios from the great live sound rooms of the Arizona conservatory of arts and recording sciences to my digatech disc lab mobile tour bus studio and this app pretty much crushes all of them its everything you could ever want every sound every instrument every loop every sample you name they have it and if they don't you can make it. And it's simple to use whether your a pro or a beginner you will make music with this app if you open it period'!!!!

I've been using this app for 5 or 6 years and it was great while it lasted but my experience was ruined because something that was once free is now locked behind a paywall. I never minded not being able to use the new effects or AI features, but I do mind not being able to use samples that were ORIGINALLY FREE. Change the app description because if you have to pay for it it's not royalty "FREE", and that's false advertisement.

IT'S SO OVERSTIMULATING. I literally just wanted a simple, "hey here's a thing to make music" and instead I get something that's trying to be a social media app but also be for making music at the same time?? I only had the app open for a few minutes and I got an ad in every single one of those minutes.. And it was actually so annoying to find where to actually make music that I decided I didn't want to have to go through that awful experience every time I used the app. Why?? Just why???

it is really really fun and easy to use. I use it to record metal songs and stuff like that and it works really well. I like the drum machine because I don't play drums. the only thing it needs is more time signatures. it currently doesn't have 7/8 time signatures and that makes it hard to record a lot of my guitar riffs that would be in 7/8. so PLEASE ADD 7/8 PLEEEASE. other than that, I'm happy with it. also please explain why metal doesn't show up on the explore page just like other genres.

need to quit raising the prices and moving all of the free features to a paid subscription. i will never pay that much money for a software. sorry, not sorry. honestly I barley use the app now that I cant work with samples on my tracks. the only thing it's good for now, unless you wanna pay over a hundred dollars a month, is recording mixing and mastering. and you can't even use all of their mastering features unless you pay for the subscription. 4 - 5 years on this app and I liked it till now.

The fact that there is a free app that allows you to make make records possibly make a hit and at the very least have a place to go to practice and hone your skills making music or beats and even videos all of that You can't say too much bad about it. Yeah, it wants you to pay for a membership, so you don't have to deal with those pesky. Ads or so that you can use more fx tools or have more mastering options things like that, but just on a regular free to play deal this is the way to go rn‼️💯

It's good for beginners, I guess... it just makes you, idk, DO A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION TO USE ANY SAMPLE AT ALL...it used to be free until they decided to take away my happiness...they have AI features as well. And I don't even think they're free...wth dude. It barely lets you edit the instruments like other apps I've seen people use. All you can do for free is split parts of audio, make a certain instrument louder or quieter than the rest, and 1 or 2 others. BUT it's very good for beginners

The Looper Tool is a lifesaver! Being able to take bits from royalty free music and incorporate them into your own songs is an incredible feature that makes it so I can actually develop music! It's awesome! So, why isn't this five stars? It just isn't explained well. No music apps really are. Not saying I have major problems with it though, cause this is great!
