Update, 12/31/2024 - The app is still doing this. Don't waste your time. This app doesn't work. It gets stuck at the "Build your music DNA" screen. The loading thing just spins around forever and there's no way to skip that step or go back. Therefore, this app is completely useless which is unfortunate because in theory it seems like something that would be very useful to those of us who enjoy music.
Reviews for Bandsintown Concerts
← Back to Bandsintown ConcertsVery frustrating to use on ANY platform. I want to use email to log in. If I enter my email address I'm told to look for a confirmation email that NEVER shows up (yes, I checked spam). Finally logged in using Google on the web, but no Google option on the app (WHY?), just Facebook (don't use it) or Spotify (don't want to give you all the access you require), so I can't get in. Damn shame, because there's lots of show listings, but too much of a PITA to get to them.
Set up was really pushy. I just wanted to see info about a single show and I had to pick my favorite artist, give my location, and then they want your email and a login just to PREVIEW the app and see what the show cost was/details. It's nice to be able to use basic feature and get information without the third degree. So yah immediate loss of interest.
Definitely nice to see a tailored search for shows nearby. We all like to hear about our favorite artists, but keeping track of them and whatever venue they are appearing at can be rough. Only real downside is I wish that whatever tickets were purchased for the show could be added tl a Digital wallet. Whether it be in the app or Google/Apple. Then you don't struggle to pull up the tickets at the gate or door...especially if your phone's service is spotty.
This app used to have a simple layout, was great for following upcoming concerts for bands a user selected to track and recommend similar sounding bands' concerts in the area of interest. The app no longer provides any of these features. Now the user has to sift through bands they may not like, just to find concerts for bands their interested in periodically, like a needle in a haystack. I was a big fan of this app in the past but now I don't see the appeal.
I used to really enjoy this app, coming back it took me 5 minutes and googling just to find how to see a list of events with just the artists I follow which was the best thing about the app previously. Not only is it difficult, it's not in chronological order like it was before the UI change. Update, I've found the date filter. You really shouldn't have shipped this to prod. Terrible. Update 2, the filter resets every time you leave the search. WHY? It takes a total of 8 clicks to reach my list.
The app is basically broken to the point where it cannot be used. It basically fails to scan my Spotify data and requests that I manually enter bands to build the "musicDNA". It then fails to find any bands that I search for or load anything from the pre-defined genres, and there is no option to skip this. I've been trying to make this work for quite a while. I used to love this app pre-pandemic but it hasn't worked since.
App used to work perfect and then one day it stopped opening completely. No matter how many times I clear the cache and force or uninstall and reinstall it has stops me from opening the app. Came back today after months of not being able to use it to see if anything changed and now I get an error message that says "your phone not safety". When it worked it was cool.
This is my FAVORITE app! It has kept me updated on all the artists, and even comedians, I'm interested in so I can be one of the first people to buy tickets to the shows! And most of the time I get better prices than my friends who bought elsewhere. Seriously an amazing app! You don't have to keep track of your favorite artists, Bandsintown does it for you! Also, it has clips of songs if you aren't sure if you like the bands/artists.
Was unable to purchase a ticket. Kept saying error error error. Getting very annoyed. Turns out my email address needed to be verified. Have no way of having you send the email again so I had to use a different email. This is one of the most annoying apps I've ever used. I can't log into the website. Horrible. Horrible horrible. Ask for the day of the month for the expiration date. Why my credit card doesn't show the day? It's a month and a year.
I find a concert that I like but it only lists the 1 band instead of the lineup most of the time. You used to be able to search venues easily by clicking on the venue for the tour date and look at the lineup as a workaround but that was mistakenly fixed. It's becoming harder to find the into for the concert to the point it's better to call the venue.
App is messy. Says it will notify you when tickets are available for your favorite band [but only sends ads about other bands]. When it takes you to get tickets it accuses you repeatedly of not being "a fan" [a bot] in wierd error message. Tried 20 times, kept clearing data and tried from different devices. Could not actually ever buy tickets! Horrible way to run a business. Now it keeps sending push notifications and texts for random stuff after specifically turning them off in settings.
It's my go-to app for seeing who's playing locally. But it's not perfect. I get some annoying notifications from bands I follow. I wish I could find tune the notifications a bit better. I like that you can set ticket reminders and you'll get a notification sometime before the show to buy a ticket... In case your not committed when you first see a show ur interested in. It's identified some bands that I like but haven't yet followed yet, which means their algorithm works pretty good.
I've been using this app for a long time, I loved it. But it is starting to give me a lot of problems and Im looking for alternatives as a result. It notifies me over and over for the same artist in a couple min period. It prevents me from unfollowing an artist. The biggest issue I have is there is no way to tell them the bugs because the Help Page - Send Email feature just loops itself. You spend the time to type the issue, click send, and it links you back to the same page erasing everything.
The app exists, and it looks very nice, but it really isn't user friendly at all. I had to try verifying my email several times, I figured out by trial and error that I needed to make an account on the website before setting up anything at all on the app (most apps help you set up accounts), when you set up musicians to follow its easy to not realize that "continue" means "finalize your selection or else it's gone" so that had to be done several times... Pretty, but very unfriendly to new users.
So far this app has been pretty great at having an array of different bands, even obscure ones, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm not on social media sites so when someone is touring, I like that I can count on this app to let me know. The only reason for the 4 stars is because not every event has links to ticket purchasing so I have to look that up separately. It also freezes up sometimes and have to close & restart the app. Otherwise it's kind of a must-have app for concert goers!
Such a great app! Being able to see all the upcoming shows in my area is great. It lets you follow artists and venues, as well as get reminders for upcoming events, as well as post about past shows you've been to. it's also got a button to listen to a quick preview of a band to see if you like them before buying tickets, which they also have a button for, which redirects you to whichever service the venue is using for ticketing. Takes the headache out of going out to see some great bands!
Good idea, poor execution. You can't set your radius for further than 150mi, get notifications for multiple locations, or search by date, so it's really only useful for checking what local bar bands are playing tonight - bands 'in town' isn't just a cute name. If you're the type to make a weekend trip to see a band you like, or live somewhere like the northeast corridor where taking a 150+ mile train ride to a show isn't unusual, it probably won't do what you want. Which is a shame, because it's a great app idea and an excellent interface.
I love how easy it is to find out when bands I want to see are playing in cities I go to. Being able to sync with Spotify to show followed artists is great. One feature that still doesn't work for me is Venues. Whenever I select a venue, the loading icon just spins without anything being displayed. It would be awesome to have the ability to select a venue and see all upcoming shows without checking multiple websites.
Great app for band updates, and it has been quite useful in finding new concerts to go to. However, this app is buggy as hell. Half the time I press on a pop-up notification to bring me to the app, it brings me to a blank screen, and I have to restart the app to get anything shown to me. Speaking of notifications, don't sign up for updates from every band you like, because it seems like I get a new notification every half hour or so that a band 'sent me a message' and it's always bs.
