App runs so slowly that it sometimes will time out. Adding receipts and documents takes a very long time. Not only that, but as part of the functionality of the app, it would be incredibly helpful to zoom in on an image when trying to attach receipts so that I could verify it was the proper one without just guessing. As for the service provided, it is such a hassle to submit claims and show receipts that it makes it not even worth it.
Reviews for Benefits by WEX
← Back to Benefits by WEXIt would be a great app if it didn't reset my password and biometric login every ****** week. I use an app so I don't have to remember it, it's secure, and unique. If I could auto fill the password with my password manager like EVERY OTHER APP. You're not protecting me, or anyone else with that stupid feature, you're encouraging everyone to use stupid easy to guess passwords.
The password rules (which require exactly one upper case, one number, and one symbol) are so restrictive as to make them less secure. The site requires a long list of questions as back up security, again less secure. Copy/paste for password is disabled making it difficult to use a password manager. Awful. Maybe ok if you prefer insecure passwords.
Misleading User Experience!!!!!! Almost gave me a heart attack when I saw over $100 charge in the list of my expenses, for a date I did not go anywhere! After checking it on the Wex website I found out it was a reimbursement from the hospital to my card, because they overcharged me earlier. Wex site at least has positive/negative signs for marking transactions. On the app it all looks the same, and on the reimbursement transaction there is no information at all when I click on it.
This app is AWFUL. I guarantee you I have been putting in the correct credentials when I use the app, but it always tells me that the information is incorrect. Even after just resetting it. And the reset link never works, so I have to email customer service every time, which is aggravating to begin with. This has been happening since I set up the account 7 or 8 months ago, starting with the initial registration.
In the name of security this app has stupid requirements for password (different from the standard ones). It does not even save username. The banking apps even are more convenient and I don't hide a treasure over here.. Really inconvenient to use when you forget this "different" password to access this app once in 15 days or more. I just removed it and would rather rely on their portal.
Poor app. Can't login and have it remember my log in. Every time I log in requires security questions. Customer service was poor and I couldn't use automated systems to even establish my account. Add that with everything else this app can't do (basic things) I'm sorry my employer uses this service for their HSA debit card. Will advocate a change of service within my organization.
Had to log back in several times. Had been using my tablet until the battery got low and at first I was excited about using my phone some things were different, looked better, maybe easier but it didn't turn out that way. I never submit a claim on my phone. I am 62, my hands shake at times but I don't think it was my fault every time. I uploaded the photos and then they were lost. Not sure how.
This app SUCKS!!! The fingerprint login doesn't work, it randomly crashes, if you leave the app to look at something else for a second and go back in, it makes you login all over again and you have to redo everything, and it makes it impossible to enter information for a reimbursement! I used Optum before my work had us switch to Wex earlier this year and Optum had no issues. And Wex seems like a well laid out app too if only it actually worked!!
Awful user experience. Forced to change password more often than any bank AND my healthcare-based employer... combined. Normally you would think tighter security is a good thing but it always comes at the price of convenience. Think of passwords. If the IT department makes the requirement to difficult, passwords get written down instead of memorized. Why this stupid app needs security three times tighter than a bank is beyond me and means I cannot use the app more than half the time as I am trying to change the password the other half.
The "reciept organizer" is an absolute pain to use. It doesn't allow you to actually alter the reciept, or for example, delete an image of You uploaded the wrong one. So if you have any kind of special case where you have to attach extra documents to a charge, or if you generally want to be able to add and delete reciepts easily, you are apparently out of luck.
The app is fine but the entire process is ridiculous. They either deny the claim immediately or approve and then deny months later after you've moved on with your life. I never know what they want. I submit receipts, they approve then deny saying they want more. More what? I use the card to pay my copays directly at the doctors office, they want receipts. I submit receipt of that it's denied because it's not itemized. It's like they want to frustrate you and then keep your money
Biometric log in doesn't work, password requirements are ridiculous, password reset doesn't work. Calling customer service to reset also doesn't work unless you're the primary account holder. I've been through the whole reset process more times than I can count. I'll finally get in, but once the app closes, you can't get in again. USELESS, and has been for about two years. It makes me wonder if there's an incentive to dbi if potential users just give up!
Update- changing review to a 1 after seeing the number of complaints that are the same as mine. The app is fairly useful, but the login experience is not great. I value making account security an easy thing to use, and while I'm sure it's secure, there's two problems. First, it doesn't work with LastPass. Most apps do. Second, you can enable biometric authentication, but they seem to revoke it after a short period of time (not sure how long but I'd guess 90 days). This makes it almost useless.
It's an okay tool. But the receipt organizer doesn't let you read documents you've uploaded. And you can't edit entered dependents; I accidentally typed my child's name 3 times because they didn't load in properly. Now I can't remove the duplicates. Also I can't review how much is posted to my account with each paycheck, or what past reimbursements I've requested.
App is still horrible! Once you're logged into it it's a great app. But good luck getting logged in! All of my login info is correct and I can log into their website with zero issues, but the app here WILL NOT let me log in with same credentials. This is total BS they need to fix. This is not my problem, this is their problem they need to fix. Will be reporting issues that haven't been fixed in years regarding same issue to the BBB to follow up and hopefully get through to them. Ridiculous!
I downloaded the app because the website is virtually unusable. Turns out incompetence is a running theme for all their platforms because the app is just as bad. If you leave the app at any point you're instantly logged out. So swapping to another app such as email to reference billing expenses means you have to fully log back in when you swap back. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if the Google auto fill login form actually worked. It's enabled but doesn't actually populate the fields.
app is garbage. forgets my credentials every time, fingerprint login doesn't work due to the previous and has to be reset EVERY TIME. The options within the app, when I can log on, are practically useless. Don't publish an app just so you can say "We have an app for your phone, too!" in the sales pitch. No value added. Does not solve any problems. Gave 1 stars because it isn't uglier than the regular website (what is this, 1995? Come on). how the hell did they average 3 stars? fakes.
This app requires permissions it can't possibly need, like making calls and location. If the permissions are denied then login won't work. It also won't fill username and password from a password manager, which is more than a little concerning considering that this is a financial management app, and it's 2021. I thought that this app might have been at least as good as their terrible website, but I was wrong. Somehow it's even worse.
Aggravating. It lets me get through the whole process and when I click "pay" it backs up and wants more information that wasn't asked for the first time. Every. Time. To make things worse it defaults to the 1st beneficiary in the list when it does this; if you don't catch that change your claim gets denied. It won't let me remove beneficiaries either. It's almost like they want me to mess up so they don't have to pay me. Only twice did it read an EOB at all so function is useless.
