App does not work well, even with full 5g signal strength on a new phone. Poor user interface. Constantly prompts me to agree to terms and conditions, after I have agreed once this shouldn't keep popping up. Repetitively prompts me to provide credit card info, despite the station I am attempting to use being free. Using near field connectivity force opened Google wallet, did not initiate charging. I was unable to successfully look up the charging station, and unable to charge my vehicle.
Reviews for Blink Charging Mobile App
← Back to Blink Charging Mobile AppUnusable. Every click takes 10+ seconds to complete even just focusing in a text box. Besides that it's incredibly complicated. You need to register to add a credit card. You are then required to get a "Blink code". To do this you must put $20 into your account whether you opted for the auto-refill or not. Why not use phone tap & NFC? You can request a physical Blink card in the mail - again, why not use a phone? Cost of charging is more than double Tesla Supercharger rates. Don't bother.
I installed this app and as of 1 hour later I'm still not able to charge my vehicle. I can't get into account settings, can't turn off auto refill, it won't connect to any of the four chargers, and when I try to log in, it flashes and then says "session expired", over and over again. This app is the number one argument for not getting an electric car. oh, and did I mention that is incredibly slow? 25% in about 3 hours.
This is one of the most poorly made and poorly functioning programs I have ever used. It takes multiple seconds to notice you tapped a field. It randomly leaves fields and doesn't let you put in data. It can't even search for one of it's own stations when I managed to put in the exact charging station code. Avoid. Do not use. Forces you to use a terrible app that requires payment upfront so they can hold on to your money and give you a terrible experience.
Setting aside how little I want to maintain a cash balance rather than pay per session, the app by itself is absolutely awful. It takes forever to perform any action, including pull up the keyboard to input information. On top of that when you set up the account it will opt you into auto reload, which would charge you $20 immediately which you can use for charging.
One of the worst apps I have used recently. Janky UI that constantly misses the clicks and closes the keyboard popup. Credit card form doesn't let Android auto fill to work, so for the first time in many years, I had to type the credit card number by hand. Guest mode doesn't work well - it is no faster than signing up. By far the worst charging experience, and that's saying something. edit: tried twice again and still the same experience. Devs should be ashamed of themselves.
It looks like the charging fee is applied when you have to switch to a different charger due to a defective unit at the hotel destination. attempts to try to get the fee waive seems to indicate that isn't possible when you are trying to find a working system in the charging location. location in question is town place suite in Chattanooga TN
Poor Useability. At the charging kiosk the digital QR code takes you to the chargers within the zip code, not the one you are actually trying to access. so you have to figure out what stall you are on. but the stall numbers on the app don't match the stall number at the digital kiosk. you could end up reserving a totally different charging spot. it's chaos lol!!! also a waste of time when most people are just trying to park and not deal with this odd challenge
The process is frustrating. I get charged a $3 start fee even when the charging session fails due to a fault in their machine. Every time, I have to call customer support to request a refund for something that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. Their system should be smart enough to automatically waive the fee if the issue is on their end. It's ridiculous—I’ve never had to deal with this kind of hassle with other EV charging providers. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
They make you put a $20 deposit on an account. if you're only using their chargers one time, they make the refund process as difficult as possible. you can't refund the difference on the app. you have to call their 1-800 number during business hours. I ended up holding an hour only to be told they have to create a ticket to have money refunded. I will never use a blink charger again. oh and having nothing to do with the app, the chargers are terrible.
Public stations do not accept contactless payment or display pricing rates, which is illegal in CA. App stopped letting me login after 6 months. Can't use station without app. Required to pre-pay $20 to start first session which was only $1. Now I can't get into my account and Blink has my money without providing any service. 😡 Contacted customer service multiple times about app. Finally gave up, requested a refund of remaining balance, and won't be using Blink stations in the future.
This app requires you to add money to your account before charging (minimum $20) and if you charge more than the $20 you loaded, it requires you to put another $20 onto your account even if you only spent $0.01 more than what was in your account. I also can't find a way, in the app, to remove your payment card without adding a new one. Other ways I charge only charge you after you've completed your charge and only got the amount you used.
You have to put $20 in your account, to be able to charge. This is really annoying when you're going to charge for less than $2 at a charger you're probably not going back to anytime soon. On other apps you can choose the amount to fill from a credit card. Edit: Received a pathetic response from the dev, not addressing my issue at all. Blink is essentially a scam, since they force you to add $20 minimum.
I hate to give a one star review with one opportunity but it was really two. went through length sign up, added $20 to account to find one of the two units at the location wasn't working. didn't find out until I paid. went back next day to use the other. car plugged in for almost two hours, zero charge. yes, both the charger and my car acknowledged the connection. so not I have $20 in my account I will probably never use. geez.
update 7/2025: Words do not exist to describe my frustration with having to use this app. I get logged out on a regular basis because the parking garage at work has poor connectivity and it doesn't support NFC. Will uninstall and never look back when I can. App is Garbage: Slow, jittery, flakey. Don't like it, but I have to use it to charge at work. Yuck.
I was traveling 3 hours from home and a Blink was my only charging option for over 100 miles. I got the app and loaded money. I plugged in but the charger didn't work. I called the help line only to get a recording saying they had unusually high call volume and they would call me back. that was yesterday amd still no call back.
I downloaded and installed this app to find out more information on some Blink chargers. It is without a doubt the absolute worst app I have installed on my phone. Even trying to type your e-mail is horrible. Type a character and the keyboard goes away. Tap the text box and it comes back for the next character. Seriously how TF did this ever get released? This is like alpha quality software. UPDATE: The app doesn't seem to work with a Samsung S pen.
When you're trying to start a charge and make your reservation on time this app is not the one to use. Took an unnecessary amount of time just getting into the app and getting everything set to be able to charge. Then I had to type in a silly code that is only visible for a few seconds at a time on the charger itself with no way to just scan a QR code or something. Doubt I'll use it again, and annoyed I had to in the first place.
The app does what I want, but... It is very unresponsive. Page take a while to load. I have to press many of the buttons/links multiple times When entering text data, it is hard to select a box for entry. Once selected, the keyboard option will appear and disappear. Question: if a have Private Access locations, can I get one of those to list as Favorites? That doesn't seem to be the case, so I have to browse all the PA options every time. I marked two as favorites, but that had no effect.
Terrible. A slow, frustrating set up that, in spite of saying "save and next", forgets what you've entered and makes you completely restart each time. It took thirty minutes just to set up the app. The station locator cannot find stations right in front of me, and even using this app is insanely slow. Starting a charge on a "free" charging station has yet to work, and it just suggests I try again later.
