My go to Bible app with multiple versions to choose from and you can switch between them. It also has multiple commentaries to choose from. You can read the chapters or have the app read them to you. It stores on your external SD card leaving space for more apps. This is the most recommended app by real Christian websites. A definitely must have app. Don't leave home w/o it. You never know who you will meet who can be helped, encouraged, and blessed by the Word of God!
Reviews for Blue Letter Bible
← Back to Blue Letter BibleI love having a non-intrusive app that has so much of what I need! I love the access to multiple versions, the ease of comparison, the Strong's Concordance to take a deeper look, and even the commentators, at times. I love that I can highlight verses with a variety of colors, each with a name I choose (eg. Blue-faith, yellow-encouragement, etc.)
Great app! Favorite feature is turning off chapter and verse marks so you can read it as it was written. PLEASE!!! Can the developers please add permissions or some sort of fix for the audio bible. Anytime I get any kind of notification the audio immediately stops the reading and I have to manually play again. In the shower, cleaning, driving, this becomes annoying and I'm starting to use YouTube to listen to the Bible because it doesn't have that problem.
Great Bible app! It has so much in there—Strongs, Lexicons, Bible narration, etc. That most other apps don't have. The UI could be cleaned up a bit. It's a little clunky looking in places and can be slightly confusing to navigate but it's worth it. Developers if you're reading this, I would suggest that for a lot of the navigational icons you put text with them - it's not always obvious what they do. Also, I think the Home button should be a Bible button, since that's what it navigates to.
Best Bible phone app I've used. I've always felt ham-handed trying to study or prepare a class using phone apps. I've been MUCH more comfortable using a PC. The BLB has changed that. It has most all of the study tools I use. You can even do an Englishman's search even though it doesn't technically have the Englishman's concordance. What could be improved? The ability to flip back and forth between search result screens. Nevertheless, navigation is pretty good... once you learn how to use it.
I love this app. It's like having an entire library of useful resources at my fingertips. I can read from many version of the Bible, highlight, take notes, create notebooks, use dictionaries, commentaries, and more. The only problem I have is that there isn't a concordance. If there was I would never have to use another app
I've been satisfied with this app up until today, when I opened ut and found that the bookmark option has completely dissapeared, along with all my bookmarks! It looks like a different version of the app was somehow installed - but not by me! I've searched all the resources given, with no sucess. If anyone knows what happened I would appreciate the help. Meanwhile, I must give it a 2, and that's generous, considering that all my prior scripture research is gone!
I've been using this app since forever, I've tried others but always revert back to this one for the Greek and Hebrew def., ease of navigating, & the extra commentaries. My only suggestion, which I can't find on any app, is the ability to write notes under or next to each verse, instead of adding notes somewhere else, it would be so convenient in being able to see my notes right there on that page right where the verse is, this is what I'll continue to look for in a perfect bible study app.
I want to give BLB 5-stars for all the tools built into the app, but a major issue is that there is apparently no way to back-up and restore to a new device, meaning you lose all your highlights, bookmarks, and notes. This has been an issue for a while. Also, support is non-existent. Questions posted to their Google group go mainly unanswered and no other support options exist. I know it's a free app and they don't have a full-time staff, but it can't be 5 stars when broken and no support.
I really love this app! Only 3 - : 1. there should be a login so that we can log in on different devices & the data (i.e. notes, highlights, etc) is saved so we don't have to go through & do it all over again if we get new (or switch) devices. 2.when creating a new note under the Notebook, we should be able to title that specific note instead of it saving as a vs ref. 3. when we have a bookmark on a verse we should be able to click on the bookmark & it show us which bookmark/s that it's in.
This is wonderful; however, I would make this a 5 plus rating if these capabilities were possible. 1. When highlighting, it places what I highlighted in the color highlighted regardless which chapter it came from. "I think it would be better if each bible book had it's own color, which would make it easy to find highlights book specific. Also when wanting to just highlight a word or sentence, you could allow this by using a very light grey color overlay to accent the already highlighted color .
The KJV reader leaves a lot to be desired. I think it is probably something AI. No emotion. I used it to read through the Bible chronologically for a year. Several times there was 'No Audio Files. And the music that is supposedly played in the background is awful and frequently is louder than the reader. Many times I looked up what I was to read for the day, marked it read, and switched to another Bible app to listen to it. Would it be possible to just have Alexander Scourby read it? Please?
I like your app very much and use it often to search for where words are in the Bible. You make it easy; however, there are too many times where I search for terms that I know are in the Bible but I can't find them. I just went through almost every version one by one looking for a term and I never could find it. I hope you will update the app so that we can look for phrases across all versions of the Bible. Even if a comma is missing, there are no search results. That would be very helpful.
This is a truly amazing study tool. I wish, though, that my phone version was tied to my desktop version. They both provide the same study materials, but when I make marks in my mobile version, they don't appear in the other. Also, the desktop version requires a third app to mark the text. It works great, too, but it is disconnected from the other two apps.
I have used the BLB KJV for many years and prefer its narrative over others, however there a couple of things that annoy me: 1. The introduction to each chapter is included in the 1st verse as if it were a part of it, which it isn't. 2. When I go to settings to change scroll speed or something, I am brought back to the beginning of the chapter, or the beginning of the days reading, if you are on a set reading plan instead of where I left off. Other than that, I really do enjoy this app.
I really enjoy using this bible app. It's simple and user friendly. The cross reference and interlinear features are very helpful and I use them a lot. I can customize my highlights by changing the colors, naming them, and all of the verses I've highlighted in a certain color are grouped together in that specific highlight tab. I can make notes, star verses, underline them, it's nice! The audio is great as well! Thank you for putting the time into creating this app!!
This app is great!!! It has highlighters that one can use and you don't have to pay to use the multiple colors. You can also bookmark your page to know where you are in terms of reading. There are favorite verses and notes you can add in yourself. Plus, the ability to download other versions of the Bible for free is absolutely great! After using this app for more than a couple months, only 1 thing I'd add is the ability to make multiple bookmarks for different reasons. This app is a keeper!
Fast navigation to open any Bible verse. Easy to change and compare translation. Many translations available and mark my favorites in order. I love the audio to listen while reading and scrolling. the trick to hear the current chapter is the synchronize to the right side of the play button. I also adjust playback speed to a talking level. Has drill down word study & resource studying tools > then I can tell here. Main go-to by far, without social communication hype. Other app focused on this.
Very helpful lightweight Bible app. Has tons of Bible translations included, many of which you can download for offline use. Additionally, the app includes tons of study resources and many other features, such as translation comparison. Simple enough for the average user, but powerful enough for those wanting to do a deep dive into Scripture. Highly recommend!
A NO-BRAINER 5-STAR APP. If you want a pretty app with pretty quotations and pretty backgrounds, there are hundreds to choose from. If you also want subscriptions, rating nags, scrolling ads, pimps for products, and other commercial behavior, best look elsewhere. HOWEVER, If you want an app that will deepen your love for the Word, provide you with study aids, commentaries, extensive cross-translations and an excellant interlinear, THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT. Consider supporting them monthly, I do.
