Reviews for Brightspace Pulse

I wish that the notifications worked well. Also, I'm so disappointed that you cannot receive notifications for discussions. Their should be a builtIn browser or a way to continue using this app while looking at notifications, when you click on any notifications or discussions, it will open a browser and take you to the actual web page. It's fine but no where near great because the web page is not meant for mobile phones So the sizing is really bad. The app itself should be accessing the d2l page

Out of all the education related apps that you can download.. this one actually works. I wish it was a little more interactive, instead it sends you to the website to view further details on assignments and grades. Once those things develop this will be a very useful app. Right now I only use it read announcements from my teachers.

super helpful with two changes- 1. each class is "color coded", it would be much better if we had the ability to choose these colors. i already chose my notebooks and pens etc to match and organize myself, but the ones in the app dont line up, and ive even had colors overlap (even tho im only taking five classes!) 2. this would probably be too hard to fix, but just clicking on an assignment (in the app or on the web) marks it as done in the pulse list of work to do. so stuff gets missed

I love the layout of this app. It's easy to use and reliable. I get push notifications for it, so I can see when my assignments are graded, there's an announcement or anything else. After learning how to use D2L on the computer, the app was easy. Granted, I have not used the app to submit anything. I use it as a reference and way to stay up to date. I think computers are better for submissions because I can edit stuff with my preferred programs and use a reliable internet connection for tests.

UPDATE: better now! OLD: Used to be good! I forget what update it was but over the last month or so the app has gone downhill way beyond belief. Like others are saying (both here & App Store) you have to log in every single time (sometimes multiple times a day) you try to use anything outside of the little snippets it let's you see. It wasn't always like this, I used to have to log in maybe once or twice a semester. Go back to the old pulse where it wasn't such a headache! Only plus is no ads!

Was an ok app for a while, but with the new update it makes you log out and then log back in, but after you do so in in the pop-up window, the link that reads "return to pulse" seems to just refresh the page rather than actually returning to the app. When manually navigating back to the app, it doesn't know that I've just logged in. I can't access any of my classes through the app now, which is fine because there's a fully functioning website, but maybe fix a few things before forcing an update.

Great! This app is fantastic. I run a Google pixel 7 alongside a Chromebook and I can do at least 90% of my course work from my cell phone wherever I am! It's awesome , literally when I'm in the car waiting for someone or doing anything that doesn't require much. I can always finish my course work and finalize everything from my computer. This app is tantamount to my coursework execution. When my Wi-Fi is out or the weather is affecting certain devices you can always upload files.

I keep having issues with the documents not wanting to load. I try to open the PowerPoints or homework assignments that my professors have uploaded and the documents keep saying "something went wrong" without any reason as to why. This happens both while I'm connected to any Internet source, and from my data. Otherwise the app is good and notifying you about assignments due and things like that. I just wish this feature would work properly.

It is very helpful for school work on the go! I also love how it shows a calendar view of assignments due and sends reminder notifications. Not a 5 because there can be a lag and also viewing assignments to work on them from a phone can sometimes look weird and make it difficult. I would also like to be able to link the calendar to my personal Google calander but as far as I know it's not possible... yet!

I like the app overall, it definitely helps with keeping track or what's due when. I do wish there was a way to control when the app sends notifications about due assignments, thirty minutes before the due date isn't very helpful, and I'd like it if it didn't send a notification at all if it has already marked the assignment as complete.

Awful navigation and doesn't support most of the features. If you need to do anything more than open a file, good luck. The text pages lose all formatting and don't support links, which is how most professors share content. There's not even an announcements section within each class tab?? And there's no way to get notified when an assignment is posted?? There's literally a calendar in the app so I'm not sure why you can't get a notification when a new calendar event is made????

It does what it's supposed to, and it's done reasonably well. It would have to over deliver for 5*s. It is nearly a 4* app, but there needs to be a way for it to recognize when work is complete so it stops notifying you about things you've already done. It's annoying af to get multiple messages to remind you to do something you've already done, and it makes me want to shut off notifications completely, but that too would limit it's usefulness. *sigh*

I would be giving this app a 5 star review if it weren't for the recent hiccups on the app. For the last few days it says I'm not connected to the internet to check my progress in my courses. Edit: Pulse is a great app for online students who are not always near a computer to look that there assignments or grades. I also really like how the calendar shows a "real time" graph of what assignments you've completed and when you're done it disappears. It's a nice feeling of accomplishment.

Nice to have on my phone, but no more convenient than just going on the website except for the fact that it remembers my login. I wish the notifications would expand so you could read what they say. Instead, they open up the whole app just to see it. I really only got this because it notifies you when stuff gets added, but it doesn't even do that that well :/

Terrible. All you can see for each class is the content and grades. If you want to see anything else it takes you to an internet browser where you have to log in again and it's just the PC version of brightspace (which ironically tells you to download the app even though you're accessing it through the app!). Blackboard was so much better and I don't know why my university wanted to switch to this.

This app has really brought my academic career to its highpoint. It is an amazing to keep organized and up to date. That is, when it works... As fall 2017 semester progressed the app slowly started to break down. First not letting me access some class info and now culminating in constant crashes. I only hope it will be back up by spring. Edit: I REALLY miss when this app worked. It literally is useless right now.

Overall, does its job well and doesn't overcomplicate things. Pulse can definitely make parts of your class smoother, especially if you like to pop in randomly throughout the day. As a small critique, please get rid of the "swipe to reveal" for grades. It's not a game, and it doesn't make it exciting. I'd rather just see the grade in the notification and move on with my day. Thanks for considering. :)

The app is great at taking care of needs. However, there isn't a link to directly access the email, which would be convenient. The reason for the low rating is the lack of a "create event" option for assignments that are not directly in Brightspace (be they in another program or in-person). This feature did exist at one point and removing it proves to be majorly inconvenient.

It's literally unusable. I've reinstalled it 4 times over the last month and it just keeps hitting me with "Return to Pulse" in an infinite loop after I login to my college, then if I manually return to pulse, it makes me restart. Twice, I didn't even sign in before it gave up on me. I've heard good things about this app, but it is quite literally unusable.

Used as a student for college, and this is by far the worst app I've had to use for my education. Unlike it's competitors, the mobile app doesn't allow for most of the functionality of the desktop experience, often having to redirect you to the mobile site that's equally flawed. Content (including urgent notifications) can take over an hour to produce a notification. I'm told the professor/teacher experience is somehow even worse.
