I tried the app for a few days and decided it didn't fit my needs, so I canceled well before my trial ended, but was still charged for a full year several days later. I've reached out to the support email about a refund, and will update my review based on their customer service.
Reviews for CalDiet - AI Food Scanner
← Back to CalDiet - AI Food Scannerthe ai macro generator could use a bit of fine tuning for accuracy. it works well for general purposes but usually requires adjustment after. i also have my steps connected with google fit. today for example, i walked 17,000 steps. this app tracked it at burning over 1300 caloris where google fit and samsung health has it between 700-900 burned calories. so that could use some fine tuning as well. also say i ordered a big mac, it auto sets the macros for 100g instead of the whole sandwich.weird
the UI and app functionality is great. but the hypothesis is a big scam. you can't measure calories using a pic. for proof, I manually compared it with my fitness pal (doing manual ingredients wise search) and the difference was 300 calories off and 30g protein difference in a single day. no thank you for the scam!
scanner inaccurate, takes too long to have to constantly correct the results whether it's the scanner or bar code reader or database. I am very unhappy with the app and would like a refund. I reached out to the company but haven't heard back yet.
great app lost 10 pounds in the first month. To get accurate readings you gotta edit the weights and double check the macros from the food labels. Biggest problem is having to press + and - a hundred times to adjust the serving size, I wish I could just type the number in
from the reviews it seems amazing if you have money to even get past the set up. I'm not sure if it's like that for everyone but I haven't been able to click past the "try our subscription" page. I try xing out but nothing, still takes me back, please let me know how to fix this because I'm unsure of how to get started.
The app inaccurately calculates macros and calories. Also, when you do try to edit an individual macro, it's difficult as it's applying the individual macro change to the other macros. There was no free trial that should have been my red flag. Tried getting a Google refund immediately after, and that was not approved. So I would not recommend.
this has been consistently incorrect with calorie count. I sometimes have to type exactly what is on the plate, and still, the Ai checks the calories wrong. when I compare the calories listed on AI caldiet to what is on Google, it's most times incorrect. Such a waste of money . This technology needs massive improvement. You should also just use Google to help you figure out how much calories you are eating per meal. I am very disappointed with the CalDiet AI food scanner.
I accidentally signed up for this app and immediately cancelled it the same day. I was still charged for it that 1st day even though I received a confirmation it had been canceled. I thought I had 3 days free? There is nowhere to call or talk with anyone.
The options it gives me for my weekly weight loss goal are from 1 pound a week to 4 pounds a week. It's not giving me an option to choose a slower, more reasonable rate. I have health issues and losing at .5 to 1 pound a week is important for me to be stable, but apparently this app wants to encourage me to blast off at up to FOUR pounds per week. Nope.
very basic, if that's what you're into. The biggest headache is that unless you manually save each and every food you enter, you have to search and customize it each time. the default serving sizes are wonky 50% of the time and I often have to approximate the multiples needed to get close to what's on the packaging. this app often involves a lot of extra work compared to similar apps.
The app asks you to rate it before you even use it or finish registering. It's not free and they want you to give information before they ask you to buy it at the end. If you still insist on it, click X at the registration at the end and it'll offer you 50% off. No clue if the actual product is good because after giving them my information, I didn't get to use it.
Most foods are not present in the catalog. There is no way to edit the preloaded food items. The AI feature is also grossly inaccurate on quantity and, quite honestly does not work. I would not suggest purchasing this app. There are many better apps available. This one is poorly laid out, and you can not even see the cataloged foods when doing a search without adding them and then deleting them if it's the wrong item. NOT user-friendly.
I was looking forward to using this app, but on the first day became very disappointed. Searching the food database uses a horrible search algorithm - too many results for unrelated items and the calories line is bogus. Also, when you put in an activity such as walking, if you make a mistake, you can't delete it, you have to set it to zero but it still stays on your list. And, worst of all, they trick you into buying a one year subscription! Beware!!
After scanning the barcode, it inputted the incorrect amount of calories, fat, etc. I had problems inputting the step count. Then, when I tried to cancel my "free 3-day trial" on the second day (or the next day after signing up) subscription. I was denied a refund. My advice is to really think about it before signing up for the subscription because the 3-day trial is NOT a trial.
This app is ideal if you're a "Lazy" tracker. I utilized the 3 day trial with a year subscription. I found the AI scanner to be quite inaccurate, even scanning a spoonful of peanut butter and their food library is kind of limited with little room to adjust weights (oz, g, tsp, tbsp, etc.) HOWEVER, there's nothing to lose with a 3 day trial and you may LOVE this app. I'm but one opinion.
Can't even get to the home screen or see the functionality without committing to a paid plan (ie if you forget to cancel, they zing your Google Play account). Uninstalled immediately. There is no free option, only Weekly ($520/year) or Annual (can't remember the cost but much lower). I don't mind subscriptions, but not before you can even see the home screen of the app, how it works, if you like it, etc. Also, they ask for a review during the initial introduction screen. Cringe.
I love this app. It gives several options to input your food intake- a picture of the food, a barcode, or nutrtion label; search the database, or search using AI. I've found the AI to be more accurate than I expected. I recommend you save as much as possible when starting out, as I've found from other food tracking apps that having a list of saved foods makes the logging more proficient the larger that list gets.
The 3 day trial is too short to even get a better understanding of the app. I was still figuring out how to use it. the app required my info and credit card info, so I can start using it. so I got charged for the app after the 3 day trial. it sucks because there's no way to make sure I won't be charged again in the future. there not even personal info to delete or anything of the sort. usually other apps would give have personal access to your own credit card payment. this apps is a scam!
Liked it but now I'm stuck... It helped me successfully lose weight & achieve some body recomposition over the last few months, but now that I've reached my ideal weight it doesn't allow me to reset it to maintain weight. It's still in calorie deficit mode which I no longer need, but it's not giving me an option to switch to maintain current weight which would increase my calorie¯o allotments. the email from customer support was not helpful at all, telling me to do what I've tried already.
