I haven't been using this app for very long (about 2 weeks) but so far I am really enjoying it. for someone (like me) who is completely new at weight lifting its super helpful to have the little mini lessons it gives each week and the videos as well as a written explanation of how to do each exercise. I wish that it automatically added one of two stretches for the area worked out, but you can manually add them, so not too big of a deal.
Reviews for Caliber Strength Training
← Back to Caliber Strength TrainingThis app is awesome! Actually free to use, unlike many others. There are plenty of workouts to choose from. The progress tracking is phenomenal. They send out weekly short articles that are very informative, especially if you are just starting your workout journey. I downloaded like 10 other apps before landing on this one. I've been using it a month now and couldn't be happier.
UI is a bit messy and features are missing. I just want to know exactly how balanced a workout routine I made is prior to completing it. Timers are not automatic so clicking constantly means you need your phone out. Everything involves extra clicking like backing out, you can't just tap off you need to click the back button. Small things that add up. I'm sure pro is great but not what I'm looking for. Plus would be nice to edit routines on PC. Overall a great app with plenty of features!
Great app, I use it almost every day. The strength score gives me a visual representation of my progressive overload, which is great. I don't need the coach membership yet (thinking about it, seems pretty worth it imo), so I decided to become a supporter. Only complaints are no dark mode, and when tapping an exercise during a workout, it takes a few seconds to load.
While this app doesn't work for me (being disabled) I absolutely see how awesome it is for anyone who is already active and lifting. The app allows you to choose from 4 or 5 days a week, and 30 or 45 minute workouts, which is intimidating for beginners and nigh impossible for someone like me, but I don't think I'm the target audience. If there were options for real beginners, I would be rating 5 stars. I hope to someday be able to use this clean, simple, beautiful app.
The quality of the coaching service is usually great. The app functionality is good when it works. It typically crashes my phone 1x every couple weeks when signal is weak (most big box gyms), assisted lifts like pullups don't track correctly, and the timer / alerts only work well when the screen is on and open to the app. Everything else about the app and the service are great.
If you're like me, and have had trouble with motivation to start or continue workout routines, this is honestly the perfect app. it's really easy to start, because the workouts are fairly short to start out with, and you would be astonished how much "Haha, funny number go up" (aka the plethora of statistics the app makes available) motivates you to keep going. 10/10
Great app to track weight training. the automatic workout generator makes it easy to come up with a program that you don't have to think about. Preview videos show what the exercise should look like to follow proper form. one feature I like is the ability to substitute exercises & all the exercises show you which muscle groups are involved so you can pick something to focus on a specific area. Clean interface and a lot of useful features!
This app does a great job of holding you accountable. Your personal trainer puts your workout plan, nutrition goals, and messages you through the app. There are short instructional clips with every assigned workout, along with being able to ask your trainer for advice. You're able to send videos of your exercise for your trainer to evaluate. Which has been very helpful. Haven't come across any bugs. Overall, Caliber app is easy to use!
Caliber seems to be the best for what I want to use it for. I wish I could track time under tension here so I won't have to write my own app. Or can we somehow? Slow reps aren't as numerous, but can be more thoroughly exhausting. I'd like to track time under tension performance. Time every set for what you do or for what your target rhythm is.
I lift weights usually 4-5x a week and have been using Hevy to track my workouts, so I'll mostly be comparing to that. Caliber looks great. I love the exercise example videos, those are better than Hevy. However, logging the exercises is way too cumbersome. There are so many separate pages to navigate to. I also don't like that the list of exercises shows the muscles worked instead of the exercises themselves. So for now I'm sticking with Hevy, it's just easier to log.
Great app to organize your strength training, muscle building or whatever goal you work towards program. My only gripe is sometimes the example excercise video doesn't work. They are great when they work except for the individual doing the excercise sometimes has bad form. Glaring example is dumbell shoulder press. The guy is clearly lifting too much since he has to move the weight towards his head instead of keeping his forearms vertical. Other than that, great app.
Have had free version for a few months. Pretty good, but a few items could be cleaned up. Exercise "completion" sometimes gets stuck updating and you have to close the app, reopen, then hit "complete" again. Rest timer is manual after every set. No ability to easily link exercises for supersets. But for a free app, these are minor and easily overcome.
This is a good app even as the free version you get a lot of content and exercise routine and workouts. I also enjoy the mini lessons about strength training however it crashes often especially if you're playing music at the same time which makes it really annoying if you are in the middle of a workout. Also I have noticed it freezes the whole phone or tablet. I will give it up four star if it wasn't for that
Probably the best free workout app. The workout and exercise library are the best I've seen so far. However, the lack of a muscle heat map and sets per muscle group per week put it at a serious disadvantage to some other apps. If they ever decide to add those features, then I might consider subscribing to the pro version.
So far, I like that the app allows me to create a custom workout plan, and there are a lot of exercises available to choose from. What I don't like is that the app crashes constantly. I'm def not sold on paying a monthly fee for something so buggy, esp for the cost. Lower the monthly cost and fix your buggy app, and then maybe you'll get me as a customer.
Pretty fantastic app, honestly. Exercises have video clips that go along with them that can aid, for a newbie like me, in more correct posture. Their physical trainers that you can pair, for a price, are pretty amazing as well. Knocks: the free app has its limitations that harm usability. There also doesn't seem to be a way to add exercises that aren't on the list. The paid version of the app doesn't have the free tier limitations.
This is by far the best fitness app on the market. You can easily track your workout routines. I do strength training and the user interface for tracking reps, sets, and weight is so easy to use. It gives you a score to help you stay motivated and invested in accomplishing training goals. There are videos and explanations for each exercise so you can be assured your form and technique is correct. Caliber also gives you access to renowned trainers who will help you create a training regimen.
This app used to be ELITE. Paid options for the people who could afford it and a more than decent free version for the ones who can't. Now? you have to pay just to change a workout, create a new workout, and probably change your password. Just a heads up for those considering the app. Substitutions on workouts are not free. Creating a custom exercise is NOT free. These features used to be free.
Phenomenal workout app when it comes to UI, variety in workouts, and ease of use. Bonus points for it being free (aside from the option to purchase training) The only major gripe I have about it is the overall performance. This app lags on me constantly, pretty much every time I need to enter my reps for a set it will hang for up to 30 seconds before I can actually enter anything. I've tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, but to no avail. *An update had fixed the issue but now it's back.*
