This checkbook app works really great, when it works consistently. It had a great entry system, and once I paid for premium, it really helped me keep track of my accounts. However. Two times (over the last year) it signed me out and wiped my information. The third, and last, time it logged me out, it synced all the old accounts it had previously wiped out. It no longer acknowledged that I had paid for the premium either. I'm not giving it anymore chances.

This app still has the best User Interface out of all of them. I've only got one complaint: Maybe once a year after an update, I'll lose all my data, or everything would duplicate like others have said. Annoying, but I can live with that when it happens so infrequently. Was always able to restore quickly & clean up a bit. Customer email support has always been quick to respond too!
I don't normally write reviews because I know they get last in the mix but I have to express how frustrated I am with this latest update. I love this app!! I've been using it for years and it has helped me stay in check with my expenses. Unfortunately, the annoying ads that are forced for me to watch every single time I enter in a transaction is way to much. Whats more frustrating is that i can't click out of it until the short clips are done. "Updated Post" pro version is much better!!
I've had the lifetime premium version for over 3 years. Never had any major issues, only minor inconveniences of payee lists being duplicated multiple times. I open the app today to pay bills and I'm logged out. I log back in, and it's "updating data", this takes at least 5 minutes to get to 100%. Now that it's at 100%, it's just hanging/stuck at 100% and not doing anything. At this point, I think I'm going to switch to a new app, this type of issue is unacceptable.
Having a hard time balancing. Do online banking, every item in on line banking is in my checkbook on this app but balance isn't in line with on line banking. Before update was able to put a line in that I would list as "balanced with bank" and not have to put a dollar amount in. I can no longer do this, so with this app not balancing with my on line, has been off for over a month. Would have gave a zero rating if I could. Will be looking for a different app. Have used this one for years
Hate the new update. I have used this app for years and loved it, it was perfect for my needs. I used to be able to put in an upcoming expense with the amount $0 until I knew what the amount would be. I can no longer do this, "amount required" When it updated it changed my numbers and I needed to go back and figure out where an extra $2500 came from that wasn't there before the update, and that I didn't have. Many things are now screwed up and frustrating.
UPDATE: Ads are now way more frequent than when I originally reviewed. This app is a scam from the developers to make ludicrous amounts of money for little effort. I'm using this app because I have no choice, but the ads if you don't pay for it are absolutely awful. I've had three ads play simultaneously, so I had to wait for three ads to all close out, which usually totals the 45 seconds. I could understand if the price to get rid of ads was around five bucks, but $20 is criminal.
I have loved it until I have started experiencing issues with it not matching my bank account. The checkbook says I have 20$ more than my bank account and I've checked all of my purchases to my bank statement for the past few weeks. It stopped matching up after some purchases I made a few days ago which I recorded in here the day of purchase. This has happened before with a $5 difference on my account and I thought it was me but it's the app! Very annoying. Other than the ads I like it.
I have used this app for a couple years now on multiple Android devices. I can't recall it ever freezing up or failing to post or backup or restore. I use it to track 3 accounts (including a credit card) and a budget of sorts. Terrifically useful! 4/26/21 - just realized that I can't find the backup feature. What am I missing?
Well, I've had enough! I stuck with this app because though it's supposed to be free, I was bombarded with ads! And it was especially frustrating when I would be in the middle of entering a transaction, then BOOM another ad! The final straw for me? I opened a new account yesterday and went to add it, not only would it not let me add it, even after I deleted my old bank account, NOW you're charging a fee to add a new account? Yeah ... we're done!
Not worth the insane amout of ads. I had this app for about a year, was great to track my spending. However with the most recent update (as of March 28, 2020), a 20-30 second ad that you can NOT x out of or back out of pops up every single time you tap something. It's insane, and no longer worth it. Its prices are also not worth buying the premium version for no ads. I'll be deleting the app once I copy all my data (manually, because you have to pay to download YOUR data). 0/0 stars honestly
Before the update you could add expenses in the future, that's not the case anymore. It is very inconvenient. It also doesn't automatically change from expense to income when you click on a previously used category that is an income. As far as keeping track of spending it works, but things I was able to do before are longer available.
Easy to use and love the category tracker. Very user/customer friendly. People on her complainig about ads are those typical folks that expect others to work for free, except them. People have to get paid. Just pay for the premium version, it is well worth it and a very reasonable price. By the way, I am a software engineer and highly critical of apps more often than not.
The ads are RIDICULOUS and too many!!! Used to really like this app and have used for many years. Looking for other options. SO disappointed! Also, reconcile doesn't stay on and you can't enter a $0 dollar transaction. When I completed my reconcile I added a Balanced transaction and now you can't any more. I also pre entered pay dates and other transactions. Why did you "fix" something that wasn't broken?
Previously gave this 4 stars for ease of use and simple design. They recently updated it, and now you can't add new accounts. You are prompted to pay them to get "premium". If I wanted to pay for a checkbook app, I would've. I dealt with the noisy ads as they were fairly quick and made the app free. Bad mistake guys.
Editing: So, I lowered my rating because it suddenly changed completely. I literally cannot access a single account. It automatically turns sideways (which I absolutely loathe). My favorite, most useful app has suddenly become useless. - I've tried several checkbook accounting apps; this one is far superior. It's easy to use, and has functionality for multiple accounts. I also love that they now have the option to sign in. My only complaint before was that I had to remember to back up regularly.
I've been using this app for years and paid for the full version and loved it. Now you've updated the app and I DON'T LIKE IT! Whatever you did to transfer data messed up. My account is now showing $1200+ in the negative, when it's not. I don't like the way the new version looks and I'm not paying for full access when I've already paid for a full version years ago. I will be finding something else that suits my needs better!
I payed for premium and it's so much better! I use it every day. I've had it for several months and at first I was worried because everyone was saying how the update sucks but I've only had the updated version so I guess I just don't know what I'm missing because I see no issues. I use the app to sort my actual savings accounts into more specific accounts, like car insurance, saving for a house, new car. That sort of thing. Its helps clarify my finances so I know where I am at with my goals.
Editing: 8/24/23 App has bugs, duplicate Accounts, logs me out, sets my register back a year, not auto backing up, customer service non responsive after multiple emails. Going to find a new app. 😔 Perfect App! Love the new update, as the number key is much larger and easier to use. I paid the lifetime subscription years ago, and have yet to regret it. Customer service email is super quick to respond and very open to new ideas to implement on their app. Multiple accounts is very useful.
Every couple months when I open the app it takes 15 minutes to go through a procedure of "updating data base. This should take a few seconds the first time." If you cross your fingers the data doesn't disappear. Now I opened a device that hadn't been logged in for a while, and made a bunch of duplicate entries that the "fix duplicate entries" didn't fix. That was the last straw. I've found no way to load any local backups I've made. Sadly I had paid for pro version too.
