I've had a great experience with Chime, up until recently. I received an unrecognized charge from "Playstation" that I disputed. There were no transaction details, and I never received an emailed receipt. Update: Still, it's a mostly great experience with Chime. However, I'm still irritated with customer service. It would be nice to be directed to a locally based call center.
Reviews for Chime – Mobile Banking
← Back to Chime – Mobile BankingEverything was going great until I tried to receive an ACH transfer. It just wouldn't work. Plus they changed the limits and some rules. I might just stop using this. What a shame. It seemed great, but if venmo can do something that this app can't, then just hang it up. This app unfortunately looks like nothing but a waste of time and effort. If it can't handle something as simple as an ACH transfer without completing breaking, then I don't see a point.
customer service is unable to do pretty much anything on my account because of "security reasons". two different issues, both times they were unable to assist me. both times it stopped me from accessing my money. this is now the third time its happened. honestly, theyve gone WAY down hill. like most companies, they care so little they wont even assist your problems. Chime replied to this review saying theyll contact me. they have not. wouldnt be surprised if it were an AI response.
chime has been great, the only reason I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because they could definitely improve their customer service. sometimes it's great, not difficult to use and gets what needs to be done taken care of. other times it's slow, doesn't solve the problem and you have to talk to them multiple times before the issue is resolved. any problem I've ever had did end up getting resolved in a satisfactory way, it's just a hit or miss for how they go about getting to that resolution.
in terms of bank statements and such this app is top notch but there's not a lot of info for any of the buttons on the app. i accidentally signed up for a credit builder card just trying to get them to tell me what it does. its a debit card linked to your credit score. it automatically takes ALL of your direct deposits. and now I get constant popups about activating the card I DIDN'T ASK FOR and I can't just shut it off. i have to completely delete my account with the credit company.
I couldn't say enough great things about chime, ever. I am so thankful for them , I've been with them three years I guess now I wouldn't use any other banking. they are so handy with a number of useful options. saving checking credit building spot me my pay, advance when needed. ability to move money from one account to the other at your fingertips, plus easily accessed customer service..it's all great!! thanks chime!
Everything works fine except for depositing a check for some reason. I scan the front of the check like instructed, then it will tell me to sign the back of it, and I press the "it's singed" button, but it doesn't do anything the app just freezes. I cleared the cache, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the app three times, and it's still freezes. I even went to see if I could do it on a browser instead of the app, but I don't see an option to deposit checks on the browser version of Chime.
not too bad for most of the features but don't ever, I repeat, EVER, deposit personal checks as they claim it'll be available in 5 business days. I'm now on day 6 and all they say they can do is document my problem. mind you, I needed the money when they said it would be available because I'm a handyman and it's for a customers job, they don't care!!!
I used to love this platform now it's always an issue! I utilize my pay but now because I've had two weeks of checks smaller than usual it isn't allowing me to access it. It would be understandable if the guidelines didn't clearly state that it would be available as long as you've had a qualifying direct deposit within the last 21 days!!!! Which I have! Not to mention customer service reads from a script when it comes to answering my questions.
I've been with chime for 3 and 1/2 years and I do really love all of the features of a bank account that they provide. this app is just really hard to navigate sometimes though. I habitually lock my card, but it takes a good 5 minutes to load up and then I have to click through like five different screens just to get to my physical card settings. each screen takes a while to load too. I have no need for a virtual card by the way, I don't know why they put that first in card settings.
This service is garbage. I can't add virtual cards to Google Wallet, they are stuck in the loading screen. I can't see my card numbers in the app. This is the only banking app that I have problems with, and I have twenty cards and bank apps. Go figure this out. I opened an account a few days ago and will close it once I take my money out. Customer service is also garbage; they can barely speak English.
I love this banking app! No fees for overdraft, I get paid 2 days earlier and if I need a payday advance, they do that too, without fees! The app is easy to use, the layout is easy to navigate. You can even deposit paper checks to your account, from your phone! They also have a credit card that builds your credit. I have direct deposit and my paychecks can be automatically split between my checking, savings and credit builder accounts. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.
With the new mostly digital banks and credit unions these days, you'd think processing on at least debit and deposit would be near instantaneous. Other than that though, it was easy to set up and quite useful when you need it. I still have yet to try any of their perks, so this review is subject to change.
Chime is not recommended for it makes things only harder for you and it only wants to show you some ads and has a weird way of using credit card and debit card. requiring you to transfer money from one card to the other in order to use it and as the card labeled credit card is not actually a credit card but just another debit card which there is no difference in transfer from your savings to checking account, so Please like this Comment to the top to Be seen and be useful to others. NOT A GOOD!
2 years later from when I called out this issue and no change .. I believe that most people would agree that when viewing "Transactions" whether in credit builder or checking account, it should show us our total balance at-the-time, below the amount of the transaction. For instance, if I had $23 then spent $5, below the $5, should say $18. it would help so much when tracking our spending. and it would affect nothing negatively to add that basic feature.
The limits make this app basically useless. They want your direct deposit but they also wanna control how you spend/send money. trying to use it as an alternative to cash app and it just can't. I can't pay bills from it because thr limits I can't even transfer via debit card more then 700 bucks. ACH transfers take 4 days. if you wanna do more. There is zero reason in the year 2025 for money transfers to take 4 days. there is zero reason for that. chime sucks use cash app.
Not an accurate reflection of account activity. Personal experiences: Account will be refunded, and the next day, it dissappears, or I'm waiting on a refund & 2 wks later the app still doesn't show it nor my funds but a team member confirms I received it after only 3 days. I've had disputes not show, transactions missing for entire months, and more. Not only do I not recommend the Chime app, but I don't recommend this online banking platform. If ever there is an issue...!!!
This is one of the stupidest things I have ever done. There are a lot of places that accept debit cards as opposed to a credit card or; car rentals, etc. They accept debit cards, unless it's Chime that is And they promised a nice bonus if you had a direct deposit within,45 days. Mine was done in about three weeks. When I inquired about my bonus, they proceeded to tell me that I had opened the account in 3034. Don't you think that if I had, it should have notified me when I was applying forthr new
Do not, under ANY circumstances, use this app. I opened it so I could set aside money for a trip, but my last transfer has been held for almost a week now with no plan to release them. Everytime I call you get an update the information changes. I even tried canceling the transaction so it could go back in my original account, which they refused to do. Once this clears, I will be closing this account.
I've been using Chime for years, and it's such a great banking app. No transfer fees, no overdraft fees, fee-free atms all over the place, direct deposit is lightning fast, and the user interface is fairly manageable. The one issue I've had recently, I'm not sure if it was with the last update but, there's a glitch where if I transfer a certain amount of money, chime transfers it twice, although I only did one transfer. Please fix.
