So here's my honest take on Chordbot. I've tested a bunch of music apps and this one's pretty solid. The chord selection and progression tools are super powerful, and I like that you can just jam around and find cool changes without having to know how to play an instrument. And the real-time playback and ability to export MIDI are nice touches too. At the same time, it does take a little while to get the hang of it, and the UI can be a bit overwhelming at first. But once you get the basics down, it's a really useful tool for music production and theory experimentation.

Pros

  • Tons of chord types and inversions to experiment with
  • Great for creating backing tracks and practicing progressions
  • Real-time playback makes it easy to find cool chord changes
  • Export MIDI files to refine in your DAW

Cons

  • Steep learning curve, UI can be a bit complex at first
  • Ads can get annoying if you don't pay for the pro version
  • Might be overkill if you just want basic chord practice

Description

I’ve been using Chordbot for a couple months now. It’s basically a music app that lets you mess around with different chord progressions and create backing tracks. Pretty solid app if you’re into music production or just playing around with chord changes.

Here’s what you do: you can add some interesting chords, select a few instrument patterns, and hit play. Then you just fiddle around with the chords and arrangements in real-time until you find something you like. And there’s also a ton of chord types and inversions to experiment with – over 400 I think. And you can export the MIDI files to refine in your DAW if you want.

Look, if you’re into music theory and messing with chord progressions, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the learning curve is a bit steep at first – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want an easy way to create backing tracks or just play around with some complex chord changes.

It is an amazing app. The variety of chords available plus inversions makes it unique compared to other similar apps. Unfortunately, it does not have the usual, more common styles...

The concept for this app is "spot on" perfect. The execution is a little lacking. For instance, all the instruments sound like an appegiated piano with some small differences. e.g....
