Impossible to watch. I get alerts all day & when I finally try to follow one to a live feed, I get 8 minutes remaining of "free preview" (?), which counts down by the second through 4 minutes of 11 (ELEVEN) ads. Seriously? You expect me to watch 4+ minutes of ads to get the remaining 4 minutes of content? You need to talk to somebody about what apps are for.

Notifications don't come through. I have them all on and I don't get a single notification until I open the app, then suddenly I'll get literal dozens at a time. If I got for more than a week without opening the app, once I finally do it gives me so many notifications it crashes my phone. Sounds like not many others have this issue, but it's very tiresome.

I use CNN Go on my FireTV. But the app occasionally crashes, and it always seems to be when I'm in the middle of a show. This wouldn't be as infuriating if the app would have some way of keeping track of my progress in shows that I'm watching, like other TV apps. But it doesn't. So when the app crashes, I'm forced to start my show from the beginning. And fast-forward doesn't really help because I can only fast-forward through the program and not the ads.

I used to love this app and the notifications and emails I got all day to update on the latest news. Like others, when you open the app, it's a black screen with a logo and you have to force close it and try 2 or 3 times to reload. This is annoying and cumbersome for something that used to be so simple. Additionally, I have stopped getting email alerts entirely since the last update despite checking and resaving my email preferences via the app and the website. C'mon CNN .... what happened??

Like others have indicated, since the last update I have been unable to use the app. I keep getting an "Unexpected error" message and am told to "try again." I have gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which worked...once. Guess I will have to read my morning headlines elsewhere until the problem is fixed. Pixel 3.

I would like to be able to listen to live broadcasts without having to stream the video with the screen having to be on. It kills my battery and wastes data. I've suggested this a while back in 2018 but nobody listens. When i'm at work, I want to listen to the c n n app and your broadcasts on my headphones. My phone would be in my case. About 1 minute later, the broadcast stops playing in my headphones until I take the phone out of my case, illuminate the screen, and hit play again. Fix it!!!

I used to like this app. It used to work perfectly. Now the videos won't load. I went to YouTube to make sure it was not an internet issue but that loaded immediately. Also if I'm reading an article and I get called out of it for some reason such as a text or a phone call, I cannot pick up where I left off. When I go to my open apps it starts all over from the beginning of the new feed and then I have to find the article that I was previously reading. Only 500 characters to complain!!!

I appreciate I can get reliable news at any time without a subscription fee. However, the ads play before nearly every video clip and are so extremely repetitive it gets maddening. Also, when I accidentally get taken into the "Live" TV section, when the time runs out, I'm unable to get back to the site. I have to turn off my phone, then on again to get to any other CNN story or any other application.

It was a 5 no problems at all now suddenly the last couple of weeks I can't get in so it's a 1 - useless. I receive a message saying "Unknown error try again". Tried all the usual solutions - uninstalled and reinstalled, turned then phone off and on, I even talked with my internet provider and they said it's definately the app. Are you going to fix it?

Several times a day it will not load. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it for a few hours. After finishing an article and backing out, it goes to the top of page rather than staying where you were reading. These and other problems have been reported for a long time, but no fixes. Fox, NYT, WP and others don't have these issues.

Loved this app and used it for years but a few days ago they started pay-walling some articles and then today I noticed they pay-walled all articles (you only get one for free), so promptly deleted it and will not use it again unless they remove the subscription needed. There's loads of other websites I can get my news from for free, so goodbye! A shame really because they had a lot of good content, but it's just not worth it, especially since EVERYTHING is expensive right now.

The app itself not to bad. Has plenty to read on. But when it comes to the listen feature. It's trash. About 3 mins of content and 10 mins of the same ads over and over. And almost everytime I use it(which is alot) sometimes the transmission just cuts out and straight to an adult. Or ad cuts out and straight to the middle of a broadcast. Very close to deleting. If I can find an alternative.

I've had the CNN app installed for over 14 years without any problems. 5 star rating until a few days ago. The terms apparently updated a few weeks ago and now limits certain (all) articles to subscribers and blocks them when you try to read them. The only option presented is to pay $30 a month. Uninstalled a couple minutes ago and downloaded NBC. Really let me down CNN. The least you could have done was placed ads and let me continue to read on. But such is the way of loyalty I suppose.

Another dissatisfied 10+ year user deleting the app because 100% of articles became paywalled after reading like 5 articles. Y'all get my data, profit off of showing me ads, and you still have the balls to try to charge me $30. That's not how this game works. The final straw was wanting to click on a hurricane map to see if my family was in the path, but nope, potential life saving information requires a subscription. On to a competitor.

Reached my monthly free article limit on the first thing I've clicked on June 1st? This is complete BS. And even more ridiculous to charge those of us with cable subscriptions that include the CNN channel, the app literally shows my cable provider in the settings. Plus, I have a Max subscription too. Either of those should get unlimited access to this app but CNN decided greed was the way. Never paying individually for this app. This will surely go as swimmingly as CNN Plus did.

I used to like this app, but I am seriously considering deleting it now. It says that it is free, but when you open a story that you want to read, it blocks you and tells you that they now are requiring a subscription. 😡 ! I have had this app for many years, and without warning, this happened 😳 I tried deleting it and reinstalling it, that worked for about a day. 😤 Also, I haven't read a single article today and it says I have reach my free article limit! WTH!

Longtime user (at least 10 years) has now deleted the app. I typically scrolled through at least 3x per day. Recently, it seems as if most of the articles I click on to read are locked behind a damn paywall. I will NEVER pay to read these articles. EDIT FOR UPDATE: It now seems that you only get a limited number of "free articles" before EVERYTHING is locked behind the paywall. This app is literally useless now unless you're enough of a sucker to pay. I'm not & have now deleted the app.

This used to be a great app but not anymore. Now everything is hidden behind a pay wall. And I mean everything. Not a single article for free. CNN is not worth paying for in my opinion, especially when they still serve ads with a subscription. Apparently advertisements as well as tracking and selling my data wasn't enough money for them. Now they want to do that plus charge money. 2 stars since the app itself is good if you want to pay.

used to love my CNN app. However, big corporate greed has ruined the app. I used to read the articles, and only certain ones required subscription access. now I can't read anything unless I pay a monthly subscription fee. the subscription doesn't include any live views, so really? I have to pay now to get my favorite news reports. I feel cheated, if you want me to pay a subscription fee, add at least live feeds or something, but I'm not paying for access I had for free just a week ago.

I am very disappointed in cnn. you took a great app that was free, so I could read the news, and now you want me to pay for a subscription. I'm uninstalling the app, and removing you from my tv viewing as well. I'll go elsewhere for my news. I always thought you were the best and fairest news,and certainly the most comprehensive. but not if I can't read it. goodbye and good luck ...from a former loyal customer.
