Reviews for Dictionary Pro

Full of useful information and so much more than just a simple dictionary. Worth every penny. My only wish would be to install a button at the top to easily clear recently looked up words; the button to subscribe could be in settings. This is just nitpicky, though. I love this app.

I loved the dictionary pro, when I saw the phonetic symbols at least, it helped. But one problem unlike other dictionaries that have audio (i.e pronouncing the word, if possible, reading the whole explaination about a searched word) this one doesn't have it offline. I will be very joyous if the developer(s) adhere to my plight and comply to it. Thank you so much.

The Free Dictionary has always been my choice since when I started using it. I seldom make purchases, but I had to get the pro version because I wanted to have it offline. Now, whenever I get a new device, I go straight to download my pro version, download all offline contents, and I'm back where I left off. Thanks for the online goodies, Quote of the Day, Idioms, Birthdays, Hangman, etc! The Free Dictionary is a daily visit!

The dictionary is a really good one. However, there's always a scope for improvement which, for this dictionary app, as of now, would be: 1. Offline pronunciations (English India) 2. Better Hindi translations 3. On Android when we select a text on any app, a pop-up appears with options like copy, cut, paste, etc. other dictionaries also appear in the options. It would be very very good and handy, useful if this dictionary also appears there.

I've used this app for years without any issues, but recently it's been lagging a lot. When I look up a word, I often have to do it several times before the app even responds (I've tried waiting but nothing happens). And when I add a word to a list it sometimes takes several minutes before it's done being added (there's a loading symbol next to it). My phone is just a few months old Samsung, and I have pretty fast WiFi.

Hands down the best dictionary out there, I've yet to come across something I can't look up in it. Plethora of definitions, examples, a nice synonym/antonym system, fun quick games, fun facts, translations. I love that it has their entire English grammar book in there. And the offline mode is amazing. I'd only love a rework of the dark mode as now it just sets the background colour, so there's a clash between usual accent colours and the background (darker blues, reds...).

Been a faithful user to this app for years now. I have been receiving great insight into various words and have been successfully able to expand the scope of my vocabulary. However lately I have been experiencing an issue. Whenever I scroll through my bookmarks and click on a word, the app takes me to the homepage immediately and tries reloading the homepage due to which I have to again go into the bookmarks' list and click on the word to see it's defination. If you could fix it , please!

I've finally found a fantastic dictionary with lots of interesting features. Among the tons of features, you can sync all of your bookmarks across devices, including the web app. Plus, there's one amazing feature that I have accidently discovered and that has been helping me a lot: I can use the flashcards to add my own definitions. Sadly, the dictionary will only allow few words. If only they could change that...

This has been my essential tool to learn English every single day with the practice. As an observation: Book-man doesn't register the activity in Android phones, it's not an issue, but the register tries to encourage with the games. The remaining things, an excellent app, even I paid the app to help you with the minimum costs with your great job on Free Dictionary.

Very good and complete app. A few wishes remain, however. 1 I would like to be able to change the order of the dictionaries (so that Collins is first eg.) 2 If you look up a word and then another one right away, the first word is still in the search bar. That makes hardly any sense, since you usually look up different words. 3 What's the deal with the Soviet encyclopedia? It's totally out of place.

It's a very thorough and entertaining dictionary app and website. Every day, I enjoy the articles and games I find my customized landing page. I think the "not to be confused with" feature is pretty educational and helpful. US/UK pronunciation samples come in handy, as do the variety of languages found in the translations and the examples of usage in the thesaurus. I use this dictionary a lot.

I've had this Dictionary for years, so my review is true. Fantastic! Super easy to use, I've spent hours linking from one word to another. Upgrades &upkeeps app often, but no unnecessary useless changes like other apps do (can't get better than perfection, right?). The graphic thesaurus is the bomb! I occasionally update my review becuz I'm so grateful! I can't brag enough about this app! No hidden costs, subscriptions, like the others do. I believe it may be my most used app THANK YOU GUYS!

Just purchased this, so will probably come back later; but so far it looks like it's going to be nice. Helpful, and grammar instruction! More info than I've ever seen when looking up a word, lots of extra features, heavenly! Thanks! Update: This'd be my Dream Dictionary if it had one thing WordWeb has. When I highlight text in email, etc., WW has a link in the drop down to look up the word directly. It's great, but FD doesn't seem to have it... yet. Thanks for the great dictionary!

For me, the page set up was too busy. After the word definition, would much rather have a SIMPLE example of word usage than origin. Origin should be on a separate screen. It clutters up the page. I like the games and brain tracking. Downloaded offline function but was unable to open/use. A 'help' category within settings would be nice.

I grew up in a home where we kept a copy of a huge dictionary by the dinner table. I was extremely lucky to have a Father who taught my sisters and I the joy of learning. I've used (and purchased) quite a few dictionary apps over the decade - and assure you this is the best I've found. I can't tell you how many times this is the only one of them that includes comprehsive definitions - and etymology - of words that aren't even listed in other popular reference apps.

Very good, and in fact superior to all other dictionary apps I've used. You get word definitions in English along with translations in German, French, and Spanish, and articles about various historical events and personages. You also get flashcards and other features, which is not something I would expect a simple dictionary app to offer.

I absolutely love this dictionary! I also have this dictionary on my iPhone and iPad. I love that my progress can be tracked over several devices and on the web site. There is so much to learn and do with this dictionary from the Word of the Day, a daily Wikipedia Article, weather, horiscope, word games, and grammar lessons. My daily go-to app.

I love this dictionary app so much. Its the best out there. I use it to help with learning new words, spelling, plus I love how you can bookmark words. I love all the features it has. It's very functional and easy to use. I did go pro, because I wanted to get access to the grammar book and the offline features. This app has helped me so much educationally to help fill the gaps I have in my learning, when it comes to reading and my vocabulary. Life changing. ❤️

Works well with single words. I've used English, Italian, and Spanish. Almost always gives excellent definitions. Translations are also excellent. Has alternative forms of most words and some idiomatic expressions. Occasionally, can't find a word, though. Offline dictionaries are almost as good as online, but take a lot of space.

Fair price to go Pro instead of requiring a subscription, so I did it immediately. Great grammar quizzes which I did well on "out of the gate." It was enjoyable, plus I learned a thing or two which at my age, or any age, is great. I also took the opportunity to download a couple other dictionaries from this developer. Recommend it. Please keep it updated because it would be a great loss to not have this, and not just for me.
