I like the app for the videos, workouts, and the progress tracker, the only issue I'm having is the fact that some of the sessions are not opening up the camera to track the ball for your reps. I really hope this gets fixed soon.
Reviews for DribbleUp - Sports & Fitness
← Back to DribbleUp - Sports & FitnessMy wife got my son the baseball glove for Christmas. As fat as the app goes, the app works fine on my Pixel 6. It works on a phone, which is really the absolute minimum expectation, that's why it gets 2 stars here and not one. After that, I really don't have anything good to say about it. It only works on phones. No option for Chromebooks or TVs or anything with bigger screens, which is really needed for this app. Second, the service is really expensive. Would not recommend to anyone.
DribbleUp needs to make the content more easily accessible. The ONLY way to view content is through the app. My son can't follow along with the tiny screen of a phone and I can't get the app on my laptop. 99% of mirroring apps want you to pay a fee to use and the other 1% is garbage. There needs to be a website to access videos so my son can use a laptop.
What good is an app for kids that can't be used on ANY device except for dad's phone? Had for 1.5yrs, kids have never used it. They aren't non athletic either they both play basketball every day. It's just there's no way to really use it. Should be a 1time purchase, but they charge you a monthly fee so that you can watch videos available on youtube how to dribble.. Support for chromebook or tablet and it'd be 3 stars. We have the boxing gloves, basketball and soccer. It's Xbox Kinect accuracy 👎
Updated review: Purchased the ball over a year ago and loved it (review below) this new updated app is the reason for the decreased rating. Where is the girl with the curly hair at!!? Why would I need a membership when I didn't before!!!!! Terrible change! Previous review 5 stars: I've used it about 3-4 times a week, doing 10 minutes before bed. I have not had any problems with the app or magnet placement. I would like a little more motivation from the trainer (for example, " you can do it!").
dribble up is good to work with any sport u like but sometimes it can be annoying
Update about a year later: this is STILL terrible. . I have the medicine ball version and I have been using the app daily, except for one day, for a couple of weeks. It misses reps regularly, and there are a couple of exercises that don't get counted at all or barely, no matter how I move my body, even after the app DOES count one and I don't change anything (risking bad form just to get a count). It feels pointless so far; missed counts are distracting while doing the exercise and demotivating.
I've been gett8ng back into soccer, so I decided to use this, and it's terrible. The coach does not clearly demonstrate any of the drills, then sends you on your way. I really wanted to like the app, but it is terrible.
Great app plenty of options on what to do but the one problem is that tracking can be a bit finicky. And also paying for the ball and having a membership at the same time is insane money.
Buyer beware. App is glitchy at times. My daughter got frustrated and stopped using. But the main reason for 1 star is they make it difficult to cancel so you keep getting charged $16.99/mo. I tried to cancel thru the app but never received the 6 digit code via email. Tried multiple times. Tried to chat, didn't work at first. No phone number to call. Chat doesn't give you option for a live person unless you select option for Smart Gear and App Support. They will refund some if you ask.
I've lost 40 lbs with boxing so far!! When I first got the gloves I was skeptical because I had trouble tracking. Then I realized I wasn't in the correct position. Never had an issue since! I work full time from home, and have three kids. . The time for the gym was out of the question. It doesn't require a ton of space, I use my small office to do two 25-30 min workouts a day. Definitely fun! Recommend it to anyone looking for something more unique than the gym:)
The camera on the user shows upside down in Pixel tablet. Videos are right side up next to the camera on the player upside down. Dribble up says to use a tablet with newer and younger players which I agree with for a larger viewing area for my young son. It was too tough for him to do it on the phone. Edit: I emailed the support team and they bought a Google Pixel Tablet and fixed this in the next release. So great. My son is. Ow using the app a lot on the tablet and it's really helping!
A good app with some issues. 1) The app is interactive (i.e. it tracks the ball and counts reps) but the coaching isn't. The beginner lesson was too fast paced for my 8 year old and he got very frustrated by the coach telling him "you're doing great. Keep going" when he knew he wasn't. This app will take your skills "to the next level" but its not for beginners. So I wouldn't recommend this app for young kids unless your child already has a pretty solid base. 2) $100 for a yellow ball is nutz
Got this ball a few years ago as a Christmas gift from my parents. It was amazing when I first got it, and there were not extra charges. The app had lots of different skill sets. It really helped me improve with my footwork. I slowly stopped using it. I just decided to come back, and I will say, that I am very disappointed in dribble up. My parents payed lots of money, but now on top of that I have to pay $15 a month to do in drills over the skill of beginner! l will not be using dribble up!
I've been loving it so far and am considering investing in more equipment. I purchased one of your soccer balls a couple of years ago, never used it, and recently I went online to see if there was a YouTuber who could help my basketball dribble, was not impressed, and decided to invest in your technology (since you added a basketball) again. I am loving it, loving getting a workout while training in two sports I engage in every week. Way to go! Having trouble with calibration? Move back. :)
Great idea, but trying to accurately aim the ball on the circle at the right spot is just tedious... Sometimes it registers that you hit the mark and you could literally do the same distance, same move and it won't count the second time. Especially with the ab workouts. Then you try to calibrate where exactly it hits and it works once and then again it doesn't register. Had high hopes
**Update** I have had both the 6lb and 10lb balls since January. I still love the live and on demand classes. The instructors are all great. I pay $9.99 a month, which is what I was paying for Fitbit premium. They aren't even comparable in what you get from dribble up! I have never really had tracking issues, and the times I have they've been user error! Awesome program. The are continuously working on the app. No issues with casting.
So far so good. I have not bought into the monthly live classes, but the drills program is great. It took me a few tries to get the accuracy of the distance and the target correctly, but it sure works. I wish the live sessions were less expensive, especially when in addition to my medicine ball, my daughter has the basketball... So maybe a cheaper yearly package is the answer here!
The app was ok until now but after recent updates they require you to purchase monthly membership to access any classes. As it is you purchase the exorbitantly priced equipment, then the membership is another $16/month(could increase further). $50 for a soccer ball which you can buy for less than$5 at Walmart/Amazon & access thousands of similar free training videos from YouTube. the training videos on the app are mediocreat best. not worth!
I hate the update. I have the medicine ball. I used to be able to do unlimited reps of a chosen drill, piecing together my own routine by selecting drills that worked for me. I was successful with that. Five stars. Now it's been restructured in a way that basically forces you to pay the monthly fee for classes. The drills are now short, timed videos, and you can't keep going once the time ends. I don't want to take classes. It isn't even the money. I just do best customizing how I exercise.
