The app has more options than I thought were possible for a Bible reading app; and the options are rather genius honestly. The background music is a nice touch to the overall listening experience. The pace of reading is spot on as well, not to fast and not to slow. My only request would be - and it's a rather imperative request I think - is to have the ability to download books of the Bible, and not just the playlists; my data gets used up to quickly when driving in the car. Overall, Great! 👌
Reviews for Dwell: Audio Bible
← Back to Dwell: Audio BibleI love this app! It is so nice to have an audio Bible with multiple versions, voices, speeds, etc. all in one place. I often use it when I'm reading large sections of Scripture to keep me focused. The only thing that is a distraction for me is that all the voices I've tried so far seem to have a slight "halt" in their cadence of speech between phrases and verses. It often doesn't flow as smoothly as it would if I read it aloud myself. A small personal preference. Otherwise, I love it!
I really love this app - it is a lot more flexible and easy to use for repeating passages than free apps. I enjoy the voice and version options. It was especially wonderful hearing a Kenyan accent!! I hope they will incorporate more non-American accents. Also, my only complaint is that I wish the sleep timer had an "At End of Scripture Range" option other than just times. The purchasing options seem very fair to me - especially if you use a podcast promo code.
great app! many ways to listen to the gospel!! and easy to just turn it on whenever I'm working out, cleaning, or just chilling, there are many options such as voices, background music (optional) and audio speed, this is by far the best biblical app out there! it's one that only sticks to what the Bible truly says, and if it helps you can read along with the audio Wich I find very helpful to really get it in my head and remember it, not to mention how many plans there are. stay strong 🙏🙏
Edit: Not the most intuitive app in terms of selecting scripture to memorize or queuing it up (sometimes it likes to randomly queue verses or chapters you don't want it to, then plays it when you're done). It took a while, but I finally managed to figure out how to select verses to repeat on a Playlist for memorization. I am not a boomer and regularly use technology, and it should NOT have been that hard. That said, overall I like the reader/instrumental selection.
The Audio Stopped working. I am in the middle of a trial and so far, I loved it until the audio stopped working on my Andriod phone. I use the audio to play scripture for the children at night while they sleep, and we keep receiving an error code. I've un-installed areinstalled, and now I can't log into the app due to an error within the app. Very frustrating. If this is not fixed, I will not be buying this app. I don't want to spend money on an appnI can't use!
So I have to pay $40 a year to listen to the Bible being read? Wow. No thanks. Every screen says to start a free 7-day trial, then pay just $40 a year to maintain access to the app. Every year. You can't access anything without paying for it. Should've just made the app a paid app so at least the user wouldn't get caught off guard. Uninstalled with a quickness.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY TRIALS! I set up a 1 week free trail expecting to be charged monthly there after... so I didn't think I needed to cancel. but then I got charged for nearly $40 for a year subscription! I'm so upset, and I can't even find anywhere to request a refund. If I wasn't on a fixed income it wouldn't be an issue but $40 all at once is coming out of my medication money. Edit: so this app in T&C won't issue refunds. So don't sign up for their monthly service It'll charge $39.99!
Dwell is doing this audio Bible thing right. I've always been frustrated by how difficult audio Bibles are to navigate, but this makes it so easy. I love that you can search for specific verses and listen to just those verses. I love having a variety of translations. The artwork is attractive, the music is pleasant... Dwell is everything I ever wanted and things I didn't even know I wanted in an audio Bible. I rarely pay for apps, but this one is well worth the price.
I've been using this app for over 5 months now and I have suggestions. The volume isn't consistent and will go from loud to soft in playlists. I want NIV as my translation but there are only 2. I prefer Kylie but she isn't available most of the time so it automatically changes to a different voice even when I took the other voices off. That's frustrating to me. Too dramatic. I also would like to have the option of the scripture reference to be stated after the verse. I won't pay again to renew.
Misleading. The description lists all these things you can do with the app, then afterward says "with our free 7 day trial..." and then lists all the things it said you could AGAIN even though you thought free meant free. So, can you do this stuff it describes before bringing up the idea of a trial or membership? No. Not unless you unlock all the features that it said you'd be able to use BEFORE even mentioning a 7 day trial or that it would cost anything. Should not be listed as free.
Audio Bible app is awesome I wish I would have found it a long time ago. One thing that makes it so unique is the ability to listen to the bible in a unique way using playlists. These are pre programmed scriptures on a given subject that you can audibly listen to. There seems to be so many to choose from like fear, marriage, temptation etc. Very clean interface. Future suggestion: you can see at a glance when opening a book what chapters were read before. Maybe make chapter numbers dark.
Amazing app! There are so many choices in voices, music/sounds, and versions! Everyone can find something they like! You also have the choice to just read, as well. It is super easy to find scriptures- whether you know what you are looking for, or you just need suggestions for a specific topic. There are SO MANY options to do different things! I have never read the Bible before, but this app made it possible to read in just 5 months! I highly recommend this app!
Everything about the app is great! It's all pure Bible, and I would say that is my favorite thing about it. It doesn't really have many things that can potentially distract you like other bible apps. It makes it easy to find the specific things you want to look for. I love the multiple voice selection and the background sounds/music. I use it a lot while driving, and it has to be the best auditable bible out there. The only downside is the price. I wish it was cheaper.
This is my third year with Dwell. It's been life changing, and I am not just saying that. I love listening to the Word every morning. I cast or "mirror" it to my TV and then slow the speed down to .75, which helps me take in each word. I can read and hear the word, pause to reflect, save to favorites, and so much more. So many great features! Praise the Lord for Dwell! If I could add one more feature, it would be the ability to view the Word in landscape as well as in portrait.
While I am impressed with the contents of the library and the responsive customer service I am disappointed in the user Interface. I wish it was more intuitive, adding subscribed plan episodes to my queue automatically (I don't find the "up next" to work well) and marking episodes played as I listen through. I feel like I have to set up a pllaylist nearly every day to get what I want (especially BIY) and it's time consuming to scroll to episodes I missed. There's potential though & I'm hopeful!
so much potential. I want to like this app. I paid for a year, so I'm trying to make it work. - daily routine. hard to tell what's next in the day and what I've listened to already or not. - sleep playlist. takes me 5 minutes to fall asleep & most of the sleep stuff is very long. I need shorter tracks or a way to come back to a sleep track that i didn't finish the night before - the music is too loud when I first open from a reminder. I have to close and restart app for my sound setting to work
really great app, exactly what i wanted.. im just disappointed because i wanted to mostly use it for the sleep category but the options are VERY limited if you are not paying for the subscription. while i understand the reasoning behind it, i just think there should be a few more that are free to listen to.
I really really like this app, I have the Lifetime Subscription, and hope it grows to have more voices and versions available like the LSB. One big thing I wish was different is the ability to make your own plans. I dont like having to choose a pre-made one, I'd like to make a plan I can check off days myself. so if they added that one day, that would be awesome.
There is no way to try out the app without creating an account. Promotional material highlights that it is free to download. However, it forces you to create an account and set up a free trial which then turns into a paid subscription. Other apps offer limited features for free with no account creation. This app offers nothing without an account, and doesn't appear to have any free option, even a limited offering. I won't create an account, so I never was able to try it.
