Reviews for Electrify America

First of all, the world invented Credit Cards so there is no need for an app other than to harvest data from you. You cannot use your phone to start a charge session reliability. Less than 30 percent of the stations work with this due to placement of the credit card scanner. Connected services work very inconsistently. If it is a busy weekend, then the entire network has serious problems. Network and app have improved over time, and my review has improved from it's original one star rating.

Unreliable app paired with unreliable equipment. This is the absolute worst way to charge vehicles. The app is slow to open, slow to load, and then decides to go unresponsive when initializing charge 9/10 times. "Fine" you say, I'll use my credit card. Nope! card reader is ALSO unreliable and doesn't read your card. Ugh... I'm just going to leave then...cancel please. Amazingly, NOPE again! Now your car is locked in a never ending handshake with the charger. DO BETTER!

It works mostly, but you have to foce close the app nearly every time you need to use it. The NFC scanners on the chargers work so infrequently that you need to use the app to start, and often I have to force close the app to keep it from bouncing back to the last place I charged. Defintely needs work.

This app is essentially not useful, because it glitches and has errors every time. 3 out of 4 times it does not start a charging session, and it cannot be added to a wallet unless you have an iPhone, and it cannot work without full bars connection to internet continuously. Really glitchy, and mostly useless waste of time.

I'm using the Android version of the app on a Pixel 7. Not enough space to describe all the problems. instructions are to plug in first, but if you do your particular charger switches to "in use" unless you choose it within seconds of having started the charge. if your credit card's expired it will make it look like the charge has started and then you get charged idle fees for 20 minutes before you get a text that says you're being charged idle fees support can't refund. Got to start over 🤬

Horrible customer service. Could not log into app, could not reset password, could not contact anyone for the 2 days prior to subscription renewal. The app miraculously works fine right after the subscription auto renewed (and password reset emails show up days later). Customer service could care less. there are too many options to use these scammers. All over $7. Enjoy the charge back fees.

My app has failed the respond three times, and I have had to call to get the charging going. I have just had another failure. The failure this time was: 1. I selected the charger and the Ionic 5 payment option. Charging started and continued. 2. The app failed to track the charging and stopped reporting that I was charging. It reported that my charger was in use but did not recognize that I was using it! 3. The app did not allow me to stop charging and disconnect until 100%.

I like their charging stations, because they're fast (2x tesla), but the app has issues. It often doesn't update the map with any details, you can only start a session through the app about a quarter of the time, and when you search a location it will tell you the nearest EA station is 400 miles away, when there are several other closer stations.

This app fails on a regular basis. Do not trust that it will email you or text you when the charger stops for any reason. you will be charged extra service for sitting idle every minute. Total rip off every time! you can request your money back and they claim it wasn't their fault which it clearly is. don't trust to just leave your car. It's not worth the heat or the cold to be charged extra. Don't trust this app.

The app does a great job locating centers and monitoring charge times. If you are away from your vehicle the notifications are helpful in keeping sure you know what percentage your car is at. Additionally, it notifies you when a station opens up. This is helpful, but there may be a slight delay at times and it is better to be present. I also like that you can start and stop everything from your phone rather than touching a hot screen.

This review is purely based on the app and the way it's run, as the chargers themselves are usually pretty reliable near me. The only method to pay for a charge with EA is via pre-payment. This would not be an issue, except it forces you to auto-reload when your balance drops below $5. If, for whatever reason, your preset reload amount can't be deducted from your payment method, the charging station will cut off the charge even if you still have funds in your balance.

Used to be able to login with a fingerprint before the most recent release. Now it wants me to setup again as a passkey and when I try to enroll it says "Something went wrong". tried several different times and days, same issue. I have many other apps that work fine with a passkey. seriously how hard is it to actually do this right. this isn't new tech anymore. if you can't do this correctly hire some actual programmers.

For most purposes, the app helps me find charging stations and provide charging session information. However, for trip planning, I often want to identify stations in an area or along a route for further checking candidates to set for the trip. in another case, if the charge is running down fast, I would like to see the nearby stations to quickly identify one to get to immediately to avoid running out.

EA is the worst experience in public charging. Between randomly defective chargers, 5 minutes to start a charging session, constantly being logged out of the app, and being forced to restart charging if you fail to hit the button within 3 seconds of the charger recognizing the car, it is quite the customer experience. Tesla knows how to do this, EA doesn't.

Over half of the functions in the app say "Something unexpected happened. Check your internet connection." Nope, connection is just fine for every other app. Gaslighting by EA for something broken in their app. Couldn't even charge through the app. Had to start the charging on the station and NFC tap the phone for Members to get it to register our account and thus use our free credits.

Buggy stations and app. Over the past 5 years the user experience has been awful. Every other time I charge it takes multiple tries of plugging and unplugging the car to get it to work. App bug prevents expired credit cards from being deleted, which pauses charging unnecessarily even though I have an alt payment method set as default!! Support can't remove expired payment methods, and won't escalate. Use a different network like EVgo or tesla if you want reliability and swiftness.

the charging experience is pretty buggy. I'm not sure if it's the app or the charging station but it often will reset the time that I have been charging -it stops recognizing that I'm charging and restarts the timer and the charging. not a big deal at all. The app does what it needs to do. it would be nice if EA could integrate the app and the charging station perhaps through better error correction or better servers, but it is okay-ish now.

Pretty consistently having issues with the app now. Seems like once I activate one charger on a trip, the app bricks itself. I rebooted my phone and got it to work, but force closing the app does nothing to fix it. Logging out and in does also fix it. Ended up using my credit card before I realized the log out/in trick. EA should be able to tell we're having issues. Where's the sense of urgency? Can't wait for more Ionna stations so I can avoid EA.

Increasingly buggy. Tap to pay with app doesn't work anymore. Have to activate the charger through the app, but it won't scroll down through the chargers at the station to select the one I've plugged into. Can only select charger 1 at a station. I could probably call the help line, but it's just bug after bug after bug with this app. There's nothing advanced about the app features, and any small IT team worth their salt could solve all these bugs in a single sprint.

Nearly every time I try to charge, something is ALWAYS broken requiring a phone call to support. Yesterday, the app refused to use the same credit card that has been linked with my account for years. I called customer support and they blamed my bank. I called my bank and they said there's nothing wrong with my card, but that EA thinks I have an invalid expiration date. I haven't changed ANYTHING in my EA account, and somehow randomly, my CC info is bad? I checked, the info in the app is CORRECT.
