Reviews for Enphase Enlighten

← Back to Enphase Enlighten

The notification feature has not worked at all, leading me to go an entire month without knowing that my array was not producing power. I happened to login and see the error message and then put in a service order. All this in the middle of summer - there's a real cost to this malfunction! I spent over 30 min with customer service and they couldn't figure out why.

APP WILL NOT SWITCH FROM FULL BACKUP. Storm alert switched the system into full backup. After storm alert ended the system is supposed to go back to the previous setting. In my case this was self consumption. It never reverted, and in fact has been stuck in full back up now for over a week. I've contacted enphase, and they have no idea why it won't revert in the app. The tech tried from his end, but to no avail. It's still stuck in full backup as I'm writing this. I've reinstalled, but no good.

While there may be many benefits to this app as far as checking my panels, when you go to the array and there are different colors on the panels, you can't find any sort of legend that tells you what the different colors mean. For that the app gets one star. Because why else would I look at the app if not to check on my panels to see if they're working. And when I do look I want to know what those different colors mean. There's gray, light blue, dark blue, black.....

As other users have reported, when microinverters fail (as 5 of mine did) the app doesn't alert you at all. It clearly knows there is a failure, as you can dig several menus deep to see your list of devices and see a red/green status indicator that says "Error". If a device is in error, why would you not make a much more obvious alert??? Terrible design that hasn't been addressed despite acknowledgement here.

Overall a good app. Some tools are dependant on the interface with your energy company, and I get that. What i would really love is to see a comparison of your highest solar output for that month/season (I don't want to compare Dec 22 to June 22). Comparing to yesterday is ok, but if it rained, it's not much comparison. Or a comparison of year over year might be good. Maybe even a estimated production. Great app, works like it should, but with anything, room for improvement.

I love this app for my system. However I talk to a lot of people about my system. When I open the app the system status should update. That way it easier to explain. The live feed is great but the status would be better. I normally show them the status from the day, week, or month before, as mine only up dates when it wants to. Sometimes 8hrs, sometimes 10hrs, one day it was every 5hrs. Other than that you guys are great.

Just installed and looked for the one thing that the app should have - notifications. I want to be notified whenever the system is offline or not working. My microinverters have been offline for 16 days and I didn't know it because the system never sent an email to me. I thought installing the app would be the ticket - immediate notification on the thing I carry with me all the time. No such luck. Developers - please add a notification setting so that I know instantly when there is daylight outside and the Envoy isn't picking them up. Sheesh. Does that mean I don't get credit for the power I generated during these sunny days???

Works ok, but I've run into bugs, like I manually entered my elec rates and it forces you to set the seasons with certain months in the wrong order. It goes Fall, Spring, Summer, Winter and forces you to set sequential months in that order. Also, now that my rates are entered, I don't see anywhere that this info is used. Also, the data and graphing is very basic.

In two specific regards, we are disappointed with the apps capabilities. 1 Live reporting of Power is updated every second, but the accumulation of Energy is carried out in chunks of 15mins and fails to individually record Export and Import totals, only the net total is reported. Significant miss reporting results when higher power devices are used for shorter periods. 2 The configured Import and Export Tariffs, are disregarded when "Currency Conversion" is enabled. Meaningless data results.

Ownership transfer just doesn't work! In the app, it gets to the point to upload proof of residence, but the button to upload a doc doesn't do anything. I tried multiple phone and app restarts. Even more frustrating is that the same process on the main Enlighten website is ALSO BROKEN. (On the website, it fails at the point when you enter your credit card.) I had to contact customer support and have them guide me to a totally different site and URL to put in a request. So basically, BROKEN.

App works great for monitoring and managing system. Only issue is that if I leave the app open in the background and switch to another app and then switch back to Enlighten it shows no Internet. I have to close and reopen the app for it to see the internet. If the app is open in the background it needs to keep its connection alive or do a better job of restoring the connection.

Some major update was just done to the app and now it doesn't give me any information whatsoever?? For the whole time I've been using this app it has shown me the energy production of my solar panels, which panel is doing what, how much I'm using from the grid, etc. Now it got update and has absolutely zero information whatsoever. I can't see my solar panel setup or anything. It's like a demo app or something now and had zero functionality.

Like most getting solar installed I found this app to be extremely helpful regarding how best to take advantage of the insights gained to reduce your bill. The only thing that I think is lacking would be tactical alarms. It would be nice to have notification alarms going off on my phone if my demand usage were to exceed a specified level. that would allow the homeowner to take corrective action quickly rather than get a massive bill because of one bad 30 minute metering cycle.

My panels still seem to be working, so that is good, but envoy doesnt reconnect evey time the power goes out. It is a hassle to connect by mysef and harder with a tech. Every time I am on the phone with them, they seem to be randomly quessing what buttons to push. Not helpful. after an hour with a tech today, he said it is a hardware issue and the warranty expired last month, so nothing will get replaced. Not a satisfied customer 😒

I have become less impressed with the Enphase system. As a DIY'er, I have three systems, a Victron, (easy peasy to learn and apps are easily accessible); SolArk, (easy peasy to get working); and then there's the updated version of Enphase, where it's almost impossible to access the apps needed to install and maintain a DIY system. whenever my system has a problem, the only "help" I get is "contact your installer". The Enphase system used to be a lot more DIY'er friendly - not any more.

It's good, but the latest update made it so that every time that I open the app it says that I don't have an Internet connection. I have to exit out of that popup, refresh the page and then it will work. I don't understand why they set it up like this and it's a worse experience than what it was. UPDATE: latest update causes it to not update properly or do the math properly. net exported is often way off during the day and will correct later.

Really enjoy this app there are a couple of minor issues though. The notifications don't work. If grid power is lost or other situations occur, the system should send emails or text, but this isn't working. Also, there's no notification when a system software update occurs, which kicks us off grid power. At times, it takes multiple attempts to connect. But I really recommend Enphase Solar and home backup, really good product!!!

Edit 9/21: Issue resolved. Original Review: Something has changed. As of a month ago, the Energy tab used to have a toggle to show your net $ usage based on import and export rates. This has been removed. As of yesterday, the Status tab is no longer showing accurate data. This app was perfect a month ago and now it's useless. Updating did not help.

Tiny, gray font w/white background = very difficult for some people to read. Tech people, wake up! I initially could see grid status and gateway live status, but now I cannot. Customer service said it may be because of the distance between the router and the system controller which hasn't changed/is within distance required. App froze; had to reinstall and was then told how to clear cache. l don't understand why power is being exported to the grid when the batteries are not fully charged.

We got a new/better router and set up the password. Now my solar panels wont even try to connect to our wifi saying the router is too weak. When I check the connection to my phone by the solar panel box it has all 4 bars. The updated version of this app is definitely better than it was, however it still takes hours to get anything done and connected. After a total of 6 hours and multiple attempts, with different setups and devices, by my husband and I we still can't get it to connect.
