this machine worked great but I tried the other 2 nearby and they didn't work and I tried to call customer service but in the 5 minutes waiting to talk to someone I drove my car to this one and got it to work. I am also being asked to fill this out before I see how successful the charging was so ...
Reviews for EvGateway
← Back to EvGatewayRequires deposit to start using it. It is just poorly designed by the lowest budget offshore company. If you ever absolutely have to use this pseudo-app, I'd recommend to use prepaid visa gift card and make sure your credit card is safe.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and they can't spare a few thousand for a decent developer. I'm a software engineer and let me tell you, for an app that handles money and needs to work or people will be stranded, this app is BAD. Avoid EV Gateway stations. They are not worth the trouble. All their equipment is useless because this app nearly never works.
Not the best situation to try to charge your car. It only allows you to charge for 3 hours at a time. I have never gotten a full charge because of this. They want $20 or more to put on your account or if you just pay for it they put a $40 hold on your card. Doesn't make sense. It's not my best choice to charge my vehicle.
App is terrible! EV Gateway charging is a complete ripoff. Wasted an hour dealing with the app and registration, then tried to start charging by registering my Visa, as it states you can, in place of loading $ to the "wallet". This would not work. I then loaded $20 to my wallet and tried to start charging which gave me a "rejected" message. Called the support line for the 3rd time. the employee stated that the Chargers needed to be power cycled, in other words they needed to maintain their equip
Someone else has been using my account to charge their car and there is no way to log them out of it. Password was 15 randomized characters so it couldn't have leaked from a breach. Changing password doesn't log out the false user. Support doesn't respond. Absolutely avoid and don't store payment methods on this app.
The app was fine but I really don't like that you have to maintain a $5 wallet balance but the minimum to load onto a card is $20. It's higher than any other EV charging app I've used and also I haven't come across EVGateway before so I will likely only use it again IF I return to this mall.
Worst destination charging ever. The chargers were in a hotel basement parking garage. The displays misleadingly say "port a free" which means available for use, not free electricity. You must download app to store credit card info and start a charge. If no cell or WiFi in the parking garage, good luck. The charger counts down from 8 hours but stops charging after 2 hours, without signs of max time limit or that you'll need to pay $0.25/session and wake in middle of night to restart charging.
*The app requires a minimum deposit of $20 to charge on a paid charger. They should just charge my card what the session costs, not to be a bank and hold onto my money until I contact support for it back. *This seems to have changed which is awesome! Great ui and a new feeling app!
Atrocious experience. They say you can checkout as a guest without downloading app. Failed to recognize emails. Server errors. Downloaded app. Failed to check out as guest. Had to charge up bank: ironically that worked smoothly. I had the charger err 2x. Each charge extra transaction fee. Able to charge via a second charger on site. I want to pay for power and have it work/not have to download another clunky failing app that steals and sells my data. Users won't convert with this experience
Excellent customer support, the support person went out of her way to make the charging session work. However, I was not impressed that the charging station needed this kind of support. Additionally, the max rate of charge was about 35 kw while the unit says it supports 60 kw. My car can accept at least 50 kw, so I don't think the limit was based on my car.
Tried using one and took forever to verify my email first. Then it said the two ports on thst charger were unavailable even though they weren't in use. Parked in another spot nearby with a chsrger and tried again. This one was available but it wouldnt chsrge when plugged in. Tesla would say it would charge momentarily then give up after a few moments.
I was asked to update my review by the app developer. With a 2nd CSR, the issue of wrong app information was partly corrected & the charging price is now listed instead of saying "free" but the site owner info where they charge steep parking fees on top of the charging fees is not included (hopefully that individual location inputs correct info). ***Customer service sucked & app has the wrong info about the parking garages and rates.
"The most secure EV charging station management network." You have a 15 character limit on your account password. My credit/debit card is getting saved there. The app is sluggish and it seems the network only has level 2 chargers (unable to find any level 3 in LA). It also looks like there's a bunch of fake 5 star reviews. That's very shady. Tried to set a notification for when a charger was not in use. The app just kept spamming that it was available. The app clearly shows it in use still.
cracked, dim screens but good 78 kw charge rate. had to use app CC and RFID pmt did not work.
$20 minimum, and why require an app in the first place
Was generally convenient, right at the front of the hotel I stayed in. But the cost shown on the charging unit itself did not match the rate being charged via the app ($0.30 vs. $0.42 - a large difference), and naturally I was charged the higher number. EDIT: Despite the nice reply below, when e-mailing, they told me they have nothing to do with anything, and to contact the hotel owner. Strange their software pkg would allow the sub-con to lie (show one rate onscreen and charge another).
it's incredibly difficult to see what charger your trying to connect to when the last digit of the charger ID is obscured.
Won't install on Pixel 3 and I've been trying for 2 weeks. All other apps install fine. Update: installed the app after they addressed the issue. Will update review after using the app. Update after trying: I will update the review because I said I would, but the software really doesn't appear fully ready for prime time. The maps have very poor cluster technology. App doesn't seem to update statuses very quickly after done charging. The session complete emails have an odd default subject.
The app is bad, it took me way to long to try to add my card, and bill my card. and once I got that done, I plug my car, everything looked good so I walked away, and the car didn't even charge the hour and half leaving it charing. something went wrong of courses, I've been trying for the rest of my day send an email, but the app keeps failing. never had an essential app/charging have so much issues
