Good free account, dont bother getting the paid as its a waste of money. You can freeze your credit for free (Federally mandated to be free). Giving 4/5 stars because of the notification baiting, it's annoying seeing an "ALERT! You may be eligible for xxxxxx card" or things similar to that. Can't figure out how to change it so that it doesn't pop up offer spam (app notifications).
Reviews for Experian
← Back to ExperianHalf of the things I do on this app, including making an account (after typing in all my info several times) and linking my FICO scores, results in the Experian loading icon before just going back to the previous page or giving a "something went wrong" screen. I wish I could use the app, I'm sure it's great.
App is ok. Simplify it. Less ads. If we need it, we will get it. My issue is with their Smart Money boost. Not recommend. This service not only made my payment have late fees but also a return fee. It kept declining my bill payment even though the funds were in my account. I am trying to BUILD credit, not get BAD credit. I just closed that account. I can't chance it happening again. Especially since they didn't even offer to cover the extra fees their service caused.
If you are in need of a credit reality check, look no further. With insights of where you are, were & could be at your fingertips, it's a no brainer. I've been happy with the standard version vs the pay version, I'd definitely take advantage of the premium version when financially able. Although your credit score is lower on this site vs Chase Bank or others offering a credit score using a different algorithm, it's a bit more reality vs that ego boost you feel. 5 stars & highly recommended!
Unsubscribed to all offers. App pops up with 2 or so notifications with offers a day. I don't want to silence notifications as I wouldn't see critical alerts. Also, support won't answer my wife's email so they can delete her account and sign up with my family plan (she did the delete through the website but it didn't delete it). Because that is a fun thing in this day and age. Can't just link an account... honestly I don't know why I've been paying for a family plan we can't get the benefit from
This is a solidly good app. I check it regularly to see where my scores are at any given time. My only complaint is that I'm constantly getting notifications that there has been a change to my score when the reality is the change occurred weeks or even months prior. Edited to add: Yes, we absolutely can request to get or not notifications. What we signed up for are notifications due to changes or things that require our attention. Not notifications about changes that occurred months prior.
Edit: you guys are still doing it I literally just got a notification saying that my score went up when it definitely did not. you are trying to get people to get on the app by lying. They constantly send notifications lying that my score went up when absolutely nothing changed. I'm sure it's to get more interaction with the app since there's almost no reason to use it more than once every few months. The notifications in general (even with the not needed ones turned off) are so annoying.
I love the app, but I have 2 problems: 1. I find the dispute center generally very confusing, and there isn't a place to enter any extra comments for any ongoing dispute or even a final comment for a dispute, 2. I don't see progressive steps I can take to improve my credit. If it's available, it would seem to be under an unknown menu, and I believe something that is as important as a plan to improve your credit would and should be in a far more accessible place to people - like the Dashboard.
The app works well. However, as mentioned, even if you turn off all notifications except for credit alerts, you still get Several alerts. three or four per day. sometimes the same one. It has become such a nuisance that I blocked the app notifications on my phone. I understand it helps to pay for the free app, but several times a day is annoying. changed my rating to 2 stars after the sarcastic response.
I've never given a one-star rating until today. Attempting to sign-in is a nightmare, constantly flipping back and forth between the app, and SMS, only for nothing to happen multiple times. Upon calling a representative, I was told to wait three days to attempt to login again, so I did. Upon calling another, I was constantly going in circles about incorrect information, and no knowledge of a single security question. Scanning ID is impossible, the app is impossible, I've been at this for months.
This app is the absolute worst! When I try to log in, it often tells me that my username or password is incorrect, even though I enter them correctly, or it buffers and gives a "No Internet Connection" error message. In order to get back into my account, I have to uninstall the app and create a new password. This is incredibly frustrating, especially considering that they are dealing with my sensitive information. The Credit Karma app is much better. I do not recommend this app!
Experian as a service is great, but the app constantly pesters me with mobile push notifications about credit card offers and potential savings and such. And as far as I can tell, there's no way to turn these notifications off without turning off Experian notifications all together. I want the credit change alerts, but nothing else.
Would give it zero if possible. I've never been able to log in without having to contact support. Every single time it says my own personal (ssn and birth date?!) information is wrong and locks me out. Even when I reset it and immediately use the new info. I also never recieve emails to reset my info and the phone number on file is wrong so I can't change it. Ridiculous and almost too secure. Tried to reach out on social media and never get a response either. don't both with this app/company.
Having errors in experian boost. can't disconnect boost account and also the boost account will not properly connect. Getting nowhere with customer service. Haven't gotten contacted like I was told. App keeps saying it will disconnect if I don't reconnect but it hasn't. I feel like customer service should be able to do it so I can redo it from a fresh start but I get nowhere when I ask to do so. Very frustrating.
I know my login info, but the system keeps rejecting it. Password reset function doesn't work. Creating a new account doesn't work either since my SSN is already tied to this login. I've tried different browsers, apple and android operating systems, laptop and a phone, deleting cookies and restarting, the app and the website... no effect. I'm stuck in an endless loop of different kinds of errors. How do i talk to a real person to resolve this?
Experian is by far the worst of the 3 major credit reporting agencies. Arbitrarily, out of nowhere, you will get a 22 or 23 point drop in your credit score for absolutely no reason, and, if you're lucky, it will show up in a few weeks or months as being restored, again, for no reason other than it was taken from your score at a whim of theirs. "No good deed goes unpunished". While the other two credit score agencies are correctly reporting your credit score increases, from Experian, crickets.
WORST APP EVER!!! They don't even deserve the one star. I set up an account, told me it didn't exist. Finally got it to regonize my account. Requested the pin code via text, never came, tried multiple times. Then when I was finally able to log in a different way all it wanted to do was offer me my free credit report. If I tried to do anything else like freeze my credit it would log me out.
I haven't used the app much cause it simply doesn't work. The website I have used, It at least works for a bit longer than the app. lol I have signed up or created an account and gone through the steps to verify my identity several times and every time it seemingly doesn't work. What a waste of time. They exist to waste your time. I can't believe these are the people in charge of our credit scores. It's a scary thought. Credit Karma is functioning at least, So I'll try them.
3 stars is a little generous seeing as I just called customer service to delete my account entirely. I had upgraded to the credit lock feature which is $4.99 a month, and for the past few months, the payment has been declined repeatedly despite plenty of funds available. I finally called on the issue today, & the automated system wouldn't give me a human to help until I asked to delete my account, despite the app having told me to call in the first place. Don't tell me to call if you won't help
PROS: With a stable connection, the app is easy to use. The ability to see all 3 bureaus in one spot is very neat. Individual credit reports are fairly organized. CONS: Subscriptions are too pricey. Why should I pay the price of a hulu subscription when the benefits dont equal the price? The number of notifications I received claiming my credit score has increased when it, in fact, has not, is incredibly bothersome. I dont like generating traffic for apps that provide misleading information.
