I was asked to fill out all my info, including my email, before being shown the pricing. That felt like a bait-and-switch. I expected to see the pricing before sharing my email—not be lured into giving it first. Then probably comes the promotional emails I never asked for. This approach is frustrating and unprofessional. It turned me off from using the app entirely.
Reviews for Fitbod: Workout & Gym Planner
← Back to Fitbod: Workout & Gym PlannerLOVE this app. I'm the type that needs someone to push me at the gym, and this app solves that. You can set your workout duration, and it populates a workout for you based on your preferences. Then, it records the weight you use for each exercise and pushes you to increase your weight the next time. Keeps me motivated and from feeling lost at what to do. This app has helped me get the most out of my workouts and is totally worth paying for.
it was better before the recent update. i liked being able to add exercises NEXT, instead of LAST, in the list. at least let us choose our preference. now i have to drag each thing up into the correct order after adding. it's cumbersome. also not a fan of it asking additional questions every time i remove/change something. i understand this is to help your algo; but it's too intrusive, and it frequently doesn't even work. if i select "delete and don't recommend," it doesn't delete.
It is easy to swap out exercises, and I like the rest timer. However, it takes a very long time to show up in my Fit app after syncing. It also installs an app on my watch, but doesn't stay open or give me relevant information (like heart rate and calories burned) during the workout. That did end up showing up in the workout log, but would be good to see during the workout.
I've only been using the app for a couple of days and can already tell it's perfect for what I need. The hardest thing for me when going to the gym was figuring out what to do and this does that for me and mixes in different muscle groups so I don't overwork one area. I have downloaded SO many lifting apps and finally found one that'll work for me!
I'm enjoying it so far. i like that i can save multiple gyms. that way it can generate a workout for if i feel like goin out or stayin at home. i feel pretty sore the next day so i know its doin its job. just good to have guidance as an intermediate gym goer. only problem is, i would like it to sync better with healthconnect, fit, or fitbit. it syncs, but the information written/read isnt all there like calories expended.
I have only been using this a few days but love this structure! So many other apps over-complicate things. This suggests the weight to use but you can always increase or decrease based on your needs. Looking forward to my progress and being able to track everything in such an easy, user friendly way.
I really like the workout plans. I have been using it for a little over a year and I think it's incredibly worth it. If the developers read this, this is the best workout app I have used! Recommended to tons of friends. Edit 7/6/2025 Three years later and still using the app! Nearly 500 workouts and still going, instrumental in my weight loss! Thank you! Stop messing with the UI 😂
I really love this app, though for the loop bands it would be great if we could set the tension for them because all bands are different tension from different companies, I have rubberbanditz and they are all different, also, stepping on the full loop band for biceps would be a great workout add. edit. I mean the tension of that bands color example, black is 20-50 pounds, orange 5-15 pounds.
It's been a great app overall. The only suggestion I could possibly make is that the rest periods don't track on the watch, so I have to have my phone out. There's also some equipment at my gym that I can't add in the app. That said, it creates great workouts and does a good job rotating muscle groups and building up.
I've used fitbod for a few months now. at first, it was good. not anymore. here are the main issues: 1. rather than adding weight to an exercise, it will seemingly limitlessly increase reps instead. this has led to workouts like 5 sets of 36 reps of air squats, for example. 2. a few weeks ago, barbell exercises broke completely. the app no longer recommends anything over 45 lbs despite me having an extensive history of lifting more weight. I have to manually adjust every workout.
As close to having a personal trainer as you can get, without someone over your shoulder. I REALLY LIKE that I made a suggestion to the help desk and within a month, Fitbod sent me an email letting me know that my suggestion was incorporated into the app and released. I like that they ask what equipment you have, and then tailor to that. I like that you can substitute exercises if needed, or add, change weights, whatever. I like the timing function to keep your rest periods. FRIGGIN WOW!
I enjoy this app very much. The workouts are diverse, and the instructions are clear. One feature I would suggest to the developers is a PR diagnostic workout so that all muscle groups could have the perfect weight for the workouts. I have found that the weight called for in my workouts can sometimes be too light or too heavy. I work out every morning, so that may be contributing to it. I can't wait to see what other feature you have planned for the future.
I like the app, specifically the progressive load algorithm. however, I find that it increases weight much too fast. possibly because I have it on hypertrophy advanced. increasing the weigh every week doesn't seem realistic, at least for me. It's not a huge deal as I can just adjust the weight. just looking for a tad more personalization. perhaps an AI prompt
Classic bait-and-switch. Looks good, gets you hyped, makes one workout then slaps you with "unlock your next workout with a free trial!" insinuating it's a paid only app, but only after you give them all your information, then make it impossible to delete you account and remove info from their servers. This app wants nothing more than to sell your data and workouts that almost exactly match what a planet fitness membership gives you. You replied. how about put a button to delete in the app.
Great app! Paying for the subscription imo is way worth it. The ease of tracking and planning is amazing. An option to recommend new or different exercises would be great (Updated) They fixed a lot of small issues that made the app even better. Glad to see they update and work on the app. Still waiting for a simple fix for weighted walks. No way to walk with weight and log it. Nah, I'll just keep telling the app I do 4 mile farmers walks untill you fix the damn thing.
feeling great! 👍 the app selects the exercises with plenty of variety and customizable everything and records it all. I used to write my workouts in books 📚 I still have them somewhere. returning to exercise feels 💪 after a break. The app takes much of the stress out of hitting the muscles groups, using the bars and weights and bands etc. I told it I have. I'm feeling much stronger and confident and looking forward to the next workout!
2nd Review: It seems they listen to their customers. They fixed/changed things from my last review and I appreciate it; however, I do want to give more feedback. If we could set the max weight we own, that would be awesome. Example: I only own up to 20 lbs in dumbells, but I cannot set that anywhere I find. It always adds extra weight and I have to set it back. Not a big deal, but it can get tedious after a bit. Last feedback: the "log all sets" button should have a warning after press.
glad I used the free trial in its entirety before making my decision. the first workout was amazing. the second and third workouts were terrible. the second one was way too easy and the third had things I simply can't do. for example (though not the only issue) I am not capable of doing push ups. my wrists cannot support that movement. I tried to replace the exercise and the only options were harder versions of push ups. I stopped the workout part way through because of that. disappointing.
Seems pretty good but unfortunate you have to pay for it to unlock all the benefits/full range use (which I know is common these days) but for a workout app, being 8$/ month or almost $100 annually seems too high. It might show it but I haven't seen yet where it shows your reps and sets when you log your workout which is too bad since that's a decent part about tracking workouts.
