I've tried using all kinds of composing apps but this one is the best one so far. The only thing is it's so laggy and I have to keep leaving the app to modify my pieces each time 😵😵 other than that's it still pretty good and has literally everything than all the other apps I have tried.
Reviews for Flat: Music Score & Tab Editor
← Back to Flat: Music Score & Tab EditorThe app is good itself! but I've been having problems on mobile. 1st it's not letting me double tap and copy a whole line which makes it hard to place it into a different instrument 2nd every time I click off of the app and get back on the app my music loads but won't let me place notes down and when it does let me place notes down it still says it's a rest but plays the note anyway, And doesn't show where the note is located on the lines.
For the most part it's easy to use but it's extremely buggy. The audio will stop working or the program will snap back to the beginning very randomly. Sometimes the audio keeps playing and the seek will disappear and you can't stop it. You have to constantly reload the sheet to address these issues. It's doable but tedious and I would recommend using a program that performs better.
The app is very good, in my opinion. Some things I think should be added are making custom instruments on your phone instead of needing a desktop device to do so. Another thing that goes with the custom instruments is making a custom from sounds in real life like your own personal instrument you have and putting onto flat as a custom instrument. Also, something that should be fixed is the new buzzes for the default tenor drums. The buzzes play for a long time, which makes the score unheard.
Good use, but it was rather unecessary to put a 15 score creation limit on the free version. I liked recommending flat to my peers alot, but honestly i don't think i will from now on; Not everyone is able to afford/buy the premium version, and it's rather useless now that i've reached the score creation limit. The app overall is okay asides from some occasional lagging + crashing, but i will probably use it less from now on.
Great app. I love using it to explore dynamics, rythems, and speed. and i love messaging around with vocals/instruments. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the app like the add lyrics thing. I'm still trying to figure out how to use them. I'm in the band, and personally, i hate band, but I love this. I like being able to do whatever I want and using the notes and rythems. Like this app gives you full creativity. You have to pay to use some things, but I can work my way around it.
Overall it's...alright. My biggest issue, and I don't know if it's just me or if it's the app, but is there not MIDI implementation? Without being able to use a MIDI controller, which other apps are able to do, this app feels clunky and not up to par. The full browser version on PC can use MIDI controllers...please add the same functionality to the mobile version. Most other things about the program I can deal with. MIDI input is a must-have.
It's a great app for composing music, and I like to use it to figure out how my marching music is supposed to sound, but there's a problem with that. I tried to put the songs of my halftime show into the app, which has a mellophone, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, 2 clarinets, a flute, bass drum, snare drum, and tenor drum, but when I got finished adding each part, I wanted to listen to the whole thing, but it got rud of some noyes and the time changes
This app is perfect. Even the free versions piano doesn't sound bad, the only issue I have with it, is the fact that when you get off the paid version, you cannot access most of your scores until you get back on the version. At least allow us to look at the sheet music and download it. Other than that, great notation app in general.
I love this app it's fun and great for all ages to create and explore music, and have fun with friends creating odd tunes! I recommend using this app if you want to create or listen to one of a kind original pieces, and has printing options. It includes a wide variety of instruments, and has a free version and if you want more things to do there is an additional cost.
The guitar parts don't play well on the bending. You can only have 15 music scores on the free version of the app. :(. It's okay for what it is. Edit: would be cool if I could write guitar pieces similar in complexity to the scores and tabs available in the Hal Leonard Guitar Recorded Versions. Also, if I could write with the strings in any different tuning. Lastly if I could write complex Harmonics and artificial harmonics like play them and bend behind the nut to get an open harmonic bending.
Really, really wonderful app. Works for all my needs whether it be educational or just for fun, and I also use it on my computer. One note though, there really needs to be an "a tempo" button. I have a ritardando in my music, and the only way I can make the tempo return afterward is to have two random tempo changes back to back. But overall, really helpful with everything I need it for.
It's a really great app to get into composing music. I enjoy how easy it is to do things. There are some things I wish were better, like better voices for percussion. But that's pretty minor compared to what it does great at. The only small issue I have is when using the HQ trumpet, sometimes when they play again after a couple bars of rest. They completely ignore the written dynamic and overpower everything. It only ever happens when listening from the start of a piece and not a section.
I'm practicing for a solo & ensemble performance, except the music I chose had lyrics in it, which made it difficult to hear the clarinet in some sections. I got the sheet music for the song and decided to enter it in here so I could listen to it better. Everything sounds great (except the ties and slurs not really working), especially because I'm using the free version! I'll definitely be using this app for more audition stuff later.
I thought about getting the full version to avoid a subscription, but then I thought it'd be a better idea to buy $200 worth of paper and pens because at least I'd get to KEEP the files and not have them sent into an algorithm for another quick buck. all apps are going this direction to farm your content, just avoid these things like the plague and learn how to put in the work already.
Quite useful for a piano teacher making song arrangements for students. I do have one complaint. I use the note-recoloring tool to hide the second-voice rests I attach lyrics to, since whiting them out usually works pretty well– but whenever I try to change the color of a dotted note(a dotted quarter note is worth 3 eighth notes, that sort of thing), the dot doesn't also change color, giving me these occasional dots. This could also be fixed by more flexible text positioning. Thanks!
Great for writing sheet music, even syncs between devices. My only reason it's not five stars is because NOTHING is offlined. Your songs and the instruments all have to load every time, including if you accidentally back out (or just switch apps for a while) and reopen a song. When I'm using this on a train or a plane, this is brutally slow and makes the app actually unusable with bad reception.
Oh my god. this is legit the exact thing I've been looking for for a while now. I was looking for something where I could actually change the tempo, counting, and all notation because I was limited to just basics before and couldn't actually make music well. but this has LITERALLY everything. and the best part is that it's completely free, and even a generous 15 scores limit. it's free, but I absolutely would have paid for it. not even ads, this is top notch, I love you guys.
Love flat! I've been using it for so long now, and it's great! However, there are some things I wish were features in the app: - a tempo (following rit. and accel. so that the playback goes back to the original tempo) - cadenza options - ways to connect both piano lines (in particular, I tried to do a glissando from the treble clef line to the bass line, and I couldn't)
I love this app 👍, but it's sooo laggy, there's no non-premium pitched percussion, and I tried to set up an account and all it did was lock me out and I couldn't access my scores. The app is good, but it really really needs fewer premium items. PLEASE 🙏 EDIT: So, what I wrote before is important, but after a little looking around, Flat is one of your best options. It's easy to learn on, gives you 15 free scores, and is overall just better. I recommend flat FOR SURE!!! 👏👏👏
