Some minor things I dislike: the stretches do not give you time to get into the next position. There are too many things to click through after every set. I know feedback is how it creates the next workout, but I don't want to blog after every set. Sometimes it seems too focused on legs, core and glutes. That said, there are many more positives. Someone with minimal or no equipment , just a few feet of space and some discipline and dedication, can go from zero to amazingly athletic.
Reviews for Freeletics: Fitness Workouts
← Back to Freeletics: Fitness WorkoutsA great app to get fit with minimal space and equipment. Perfect for frequent travelers that may stay in locations without a gym. The coach feature pushes your limit, but not flexible for the user. They should allow more equipment customization. Such as exercises with dumbbells instead of barbells or when you have some but not all equipments.
Be warned: I liked this app before I signed up for the coach. Be very careful if you're thinking about going for the paid version. I tried the coach feature (paid) for a while, but it wasn't for me. When I tried to cancel/unsubscribe, there was no way in the app or online to cancel the subscription (I looked several times in both). Naturally, I forgot to follow-up (I didn't actually know how), and without any warning in-app or by emails, I was charged the auto-renewal. When I responded to the email asking for a refund, within 4 hours of a YEARLY subscription, they just said tough luck. This is a ridiculous, short-sighted policy! Note, I've asked for refunds for many subscriptions immediately after the auto-renewal and I've never been turned down before. Shame on the Freeletics team for this policy. I obviously no longer recommend this app to friends, and I warn anyone thinking about trying out the coach feature the the app with try to squeeze you even when you're not getting value. There are two things that I'd expect for this Freeletics team if they actually care about the people they're serving: 1. At a minimum, have a small window where people can get refunds after auto-renewal. Particularly for people that clearly haven't used the product since renewal. 2. Ideally, provide prior with a 1 week heads up via email that their subscription is about to auto-renew. Surprising people with auto-renewals is a way to bring in a bit more money shirt-term, but you're going to make people angry, and that's a bad move long term!
App has been updated multiple times since my last review (almost 10 years ago!!!) Expanded offerings greatly, but now that the sample size is large, still offers "dumb" data. For example, if my personal best was from 10 years ago (again, !!!) me racing against that today is a doomed to fail enterprise. Of course I'm going to be slower on each set. Each set getting farther off the pace is demoralizing. It used to show against the previous try, which was a better measure pf improvement.
I would give 4.5 if possible. Super flexible in the possibilities and allows for a challenging workout routine. Probably the best workout app I've seen so far. That being said, it kind of maxes out at some point. 4 years in, I'd say that after about 2 years you've more or less seen everything it can do. And it would be nice if it was easier to search through history, as well as edit the past comments (ongoing issue for years).
Beware, this app is NOT FREE. With the word "free" in the name and no cost structure listed I thought it would be worth a try. Plugged in all my information and I couldn't access anything until I paid for it. Also the billing makes no sense, is it billed weekly? Monthly? In 6 month increments? I'm surprised such a deceptive app has such good reviews, maybe it's great if you pay for it, and I probably would have tried it out if they were more clear and upfront about their pricing, but I'll pass.
Great app so far. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is due to the inability to modify some exercises. You can adjust weight and reps for weighted exercises. But I'm a bigger guy. I need modifications for some of the workouts. Also there needs to be an option to make arrangements for injuries. I have a wrist injury that prevents me from doing certain variations of push-ups, planks, and some stretches. Make some changes devs for the 5th star.
I wasn't even 3 minutes into checking out the app that I wanted to uninstal, Why? No sooner do you launch the app, enter in your details, then expensive subscription options are thrown in your face, this is before you even see what the app is about and what it could offer to someone looking to improve their fitness. I'm sure that training on offer is good but first impressions are everything.
It's a great app, I'm enjoying it, and I think that if it wasn't for this app I wouldn't have started training. However, it should let you change your way of training once you started. Right now I'm getting many exercises that after 5 weeks of training are easy for me. And if I change the training it will start from zero. Hence my 4 stars. Also, some more equipment to add would be nice :) Thanks!
I tried to like this app for 6 months and just know to expect from customer service reps: robotic, not original, cookie cutter, with zero apologetic considerate attitude. I read some bad reviews but tried to look past them as the company seemed like at first they'd be willing to make changes based on feedback. NOPE!! One issue was food preferences. Before I purchased the app I asked about food preferences and they responded (it's also in the app when you try to edit) that they were working on adding more options. 5 months later, nothing has changed and same response. In nutrition app, it's bad if you like to meal prep as each day in the app you're suggested new recipes but you can't repeat those same recipes on another day. I suffered some injuries and needed to modify, and in the routine you've been given, you can't swap out exercises that may have less impact. You get what you get. If you can't finish your workout for whatever reason that day, the only option is to quit the workout and your progress is lost. It doesn't let you quit halfway and at least save the data you earned. They also won't give partial $ back even though I still have 6 months left of subscription.
I was really disappointed with this app. You cannot look further into it unless you purchase it. The nutrition does not allow for much customization. The excersise portion was not what i needed. You have to warm up for 7 minutes then cool down for 7 minutes and there is no way around it, with a small window to excersise in, thay didnt leave me much time. There werent many excersises, it just had a few that you had to do about 5 times. Waste of money. Ended up finding a free one instead.
Far too restrictive with few options for workout feedback; i.e. the only way to say an exercise was difficult is to give the entire session a poor grade. There's also no way to skip exercises. For example, I can't do 90 sit-ups and mountain climbers due to physical restrictions (which I noted in the app) so when I skipped those exercises it assumed I completed them and gave me a personal best record for time.
Can't uninstall enough. After collecting all of your personal info, you find out you need to pay a monthly fee to use it. There is no free option, like it suggests. Hit, "skip for now," and it preps you a workout - and then says you need to subscribe to actually go through it. They're not even upselling optional services. You need to pay to use the workouts.
Downloaded, and was kinda excited to use. Then I started setting up my account, and all the sudden, it wanted me to pay. Kinda puzzled me, considering the name is Freeletics. Anyways, aside from that, the payment options are also kinda funky, as it says $2-3 a week, but then you gotta pay the whole thing upfront? I haven't seen the product before, never heard of it, and I'm not about to drop $80 on something that doesn't even show me how it works before wanting paid.
Not a great app. Overly elaborate with very little focus on hypertrophy. If you are looking to get the body of a little boy with giant legs then this is the app for you. Also the format is excruciating as the workouts take far too long with no attempt to shorten the workouts with supersets. If you accidentally stop a workout, you cannot pick up where you left off and are forced to go through long useless warm ups. Maybe good for cyclists. But if you want to build muscle, look elsewhere.
I like this app overall, it serves it's purpose. However, one of it's biggest drawbacks is that I can't move workouts around for the week, once you set your days you can't change them without starting your "journey" over. For days you don't have workouts scheduled you have to choose from the list of challenges, or build your own workout. I really wish I could choose weight workouts without having to create my own workout.
The app is very good for creating structured workout plans using all the available equipment. Missing features: * There is no option to extract workout logs in a text format. * The navigation is not so good (multiple clicks can be reduced to single click at number of places) The way images show up is also not smooth, one needs to click 2-3 times.
This app is well made with a glaring issue. The subscription is WAY too expensive. It's basically the same cost of my local gym. I understand the developers want to get paid for their hard work and I fully support payment, even a monthly payment if there are constant updates with new workouts, but the $10 per month is crazy. My gym offers so much more for $10, this app should cost no more than $3 per month, period. Too bad too, I would pay for a better pricing schedule, but will not fork out what they are asking.
I'm really enjoying this app. The instructions are super clear and easy to follow. I'm training according to coach sessions recommended by coach+ chat, and sessions really suits my requirements. However, I would prefer to have sessions for various sports trainings. For example, I would highly appreciate it if there would be sessions for football (soccer) players. Also periodic analytics would be great to have.
Update in 2025: 5 years, and enough of a home gym in place, and I'm back with Freeletics and realizing how much trying my own workouts or other programs just didn't click for me. these workouts are really enjpyable, and tough, while still manageable. the regular app updates are great. Original: I used this app for 3 years, and Loved the Gym coach. The workouts mde me genuinely stronger across my whole body. When I stopped going to the gym I let this lapse, but still think about the workouts.
