This is my new favorite app. This app has useful functionality on its free version and the subscription for the extra premium features is affordable. It even generates new work out routines for you or you can assemble your own using the pretty comprehensive exercise library. You can narrow the library by what equipment you have available to you. It's easy to use and has a nice interface that is easy to read and isn't busy or cluttered looking.
Reviews for Gym Workout Tracker: Gym Log
← Back to Gym Workout Tracker: Gym LogI have an odd set of equipment so I paid for it and it leaves a lot to be desired. I really only find it useful for tracking my own custom workouts. The "Training"and "Plan" sections will give generated workouts based on your equipment but they're wonky, where sometimes there isn't a leg day for a while, and then the workouts are locked so you can't look ahead to see it their plans will be sufficient. I'm on the lookout for something else.
Great variety of workouts available, great way to keep track of your personal bests and previous sets, etc. Edit: I've noticed a lot of common workouts are missing, like XYTs and Skierg. Also, it would be awesome if they could add warm-up exercises like Froggies, chest stretches, cobras, etc. Even if there's just a description in the custom workouts where you can fill in notes and warm-ups.
Dude do some warm ups with the home workout app and then open this puppy and you are set Update: I was having trouble with the face pulls.. I kept doing them wrong because I didn't know I was supposed to use a rope and not a handle.. if maybe yall can add that to the app on how to execute it? Also, as for the back extension exercise, can you do one that has weights instead of just body weight? So, it's easier to keep track on the app
I used to love this app. I downloaded it almost four years ago and haven't had a complaint until now. The excessive amounts of ads were something I could tolerate since it was free. If I wanted to get rid of the ads, I could pay for a premium membership. However, you now have to pay a subscription fee if you want to log certain exercises- I'm a woman, so I have to pay to log glute bridges and pistol squats. I used to recommend this app to everyone. I will never do that again. Deleting it.
Can't do much with the free version. I understand developers deserve to make money on their products and stuff, but when you can barely do anything at all without paying for a subscription to the app it becomes quite annoying. I get there is a 7 day free trial, but not everyone can afford 30 dollars a year for an app that basically just shows you different workouts you can do.
Wanted to be able to track and plan my workouts. Gave up after about 10 minutes. They have leg press machines listed under arms as well as many other machines that are not correctly listed. So just finding and selecting the correct workout is incredibly time consuming and frustrating. Never even got through the bicep workout. They also have arms listed as a work out, but everyone knows you don't work your biceps and triceps at the same time.. And don't ask for 5 stars, or I'll make it a 1 star.
I Just started using this app. So far so good. Their are a Few ads u have to deal with but that's OK. App is very user friendly. Love the rest timer. Going forward, I want to see if each exercise gives me the recommended weight to lift based on my profile. So far (very early) the recommended weight doesn't seem to be based on my profile answers...well see...but 5 stars so far. Because it's free and user friendly, with A TON of workouts
This app sucks! It only lets you log certain exercises. If the exercise isn't in their list you have to pay for it! And I'm talking basis exercises like an ab machine! Don't waste your time with this app! To the developer of this app. Your response is of no help to me at all. The custom feature does not allow me to add some basic exercises like the crunch machine to my workout as I have said initially. There is a padlock next to it indicating that I would have to pay to add it. This is ludacris!
I've been using this app at the gym for a little over 2 years now and I absolutely love it! After using it for a few months I paid the one time fee to remove adds. I've created and tweaked every workout I do at the gym multiple times throughout the year to fit the season with lifting that I'm currently in. I also loved doing the plans that were put in the app back in the day, this app is great and I feel like it carries from beginner to advanced lifters very well!
I have been using this app for the past year and really like it I was able to select from the large number of exercises to customize upper and lower body workouts to match equipment in my gym. One month ago I had to upgrade my phone and after installing the app on the new phone tried to put in my customized programs. Unfortunately. the app will not let me add many of my exercises unless I now pay. So now I will have to look for a different app.
I have been using this application for well over a year, and it enjoy most of it's functions. The only issue at the moment is how there are a lack of landmine, smash ball, and other various exercises. I can add them as custom exercises, but the target muscle groups are too generic and not specific enough.
Awesome app. It has tons of exercises that you can search by equipment type and muscle group, and you can also add your own. This is so helpful when you're working out with limited equipment vs. at a gym. The auto generated workouts are nice too since they suggest exercises you might not think of. The app also integrates easily with Google fit which is nice. I've gotten back into the habit of working out since using this - the added structure makes it so much easier to stick to it.
I have used quite a few fitness apps over the years, and this is a step above the most basic. Yes, you can log workouts and track history; however, this app does not support supersets (of any type). Moreover, if you do any band exercises, there is no way to just put "Green Band" or "Blue Band." The app requires a weight/resistance. Additionally, there is not support for logging cardio like treadmill or elliptical (yes, you can add those as custom, but I need custom fields for tracking distance, resistance, etc.). Finally, the app does not keep the screen on (nor does it offer the option to do so). Each time I finish an exercise and go back to my phone to log the set, I need to unlock the phone. That's annoying. Otherwise, it works as well as a spreadsheet with sound.
Excellent app!! I needed to transfer some of my exercises from my previous app to this one, and had no problem! Just manually put them into the exercises selection page, under their related muscle group. Only thing that I wish was available, is to "Hide" or remove the hundreds of exercises that are of completely no use to me. You still need to scroll through them to find what you are looking for. Also the trainer's suggested workouts, doesn't generate any of my added exercises into routines.
In general I like the App, but there are some things I don't like. such as I can't look ahead to see what exercises are coming up. you can't skip a day and move to the next for instance I had lower body, rest day, shoulders, then lower body again. my legs were still to sore to work out lower body again, but there is no way to get around it. when you need to change an exercise, the app you offer you a replacement exercise that works the same muscle groups.
I used the app, then abandoned it because a bunch of exercises I used were suddenly premium exclusive. I left a low review based on this change. Now all the exercises are back to normal. I intend to use it as long as the exercises I found originally stay free. If the things I liked about the free version stay free, then I rate it 5 stars. Great exercise catalogue and great use interface. If this change was in response to my comment, then thank you very much! Would recommend.
Half the exercises are behind a paywall. Even if im just using the app for tracking. There are random exercises I can't add to my workout. Bench is ok. Smith bench isn't. Low row is ok. Bent over row isn't. It's really stupid, and an attempt to be annoying as possible to try and get me to spend $30 a year to use a fancy spreadsheet isn't worth it. I'd pay a one time download fee, or the fee to remove the ads (there are a LOT of ads), but I'm not subscribing to pay per month. Sorry.
I'm going to keep if short and brief. the app is great itself, I've tried all sort of different workout apps but this one really made me do progress. I've seen changes to body, mood, etc. Problem is, you have to sync in every day so when you log back in, you don't have to repeat the same things and your calendar doesn't seem messed up.
This app is great for anyone wanting to get in shape All you do is add the type of equipment that you can utilize and it tailors workouts to the equipment that you have so there's no guessing. Great app I've been using it for a few months and I'm seeing physical results by staying consistent. I had to update my review, I originally gave 5 stars but I have to take 1 away because the app no longer connects the Google Fit to track workouts. Still an awesome app but I hope they get connectivity back
