Recipes are simple but very tasty. Over priced: ultimately you're paying for a little meat, a zucchini, a carrot, a carb, and some seasoning and small single use ingredients=$20. Every once in a while I'd get a low quality veggie, chicken with a hole in the package, or a missing "free" item. This app inparticular won't let you cancel your membership, you're forced to log in to a browser. Uses heavy handed techniques to prevent cancellations, which is pretty normal by now, albeit disappointing.
Reviews for HelloFresh: Meal Kit Delivery
← Back to HelloFresh: Meal Kit DeliveryI get to try new recipes without the worry of having a bunch of leftover ingredients. So far, we've enjoyed most of the meals. There were a couple that lacked flavor. But acceptable to eat. One of our favorites was the pasta chicken sausage with Kale. That was delicious! In the long run, we are saving money by not buying a bunch of extra items that would be used once. Plus, having the nice recipes cards allows me to make more for company at another time. It's like a restaurant in my kitchen!
Overall, I like the service and appreciate the convenience it brings me. However, what has soured my experience is that on numerous occasions, my skipped weeks caught up to me and without realizing it until it was too late, an order was placed. I hate the fact that you cannot actually pause your subscription, which, of course leads to people forgetting about it long enough for them to be billed for an order, without notice and receiving a bunch of meals they do not want.
It was ok. The menu options are only good if you spend an extra per meal. I recommend you think about it first because the only way you can cancel/ pause is to call customer service - wait time is no fun. They will charge you and deliver food even if you tried on the APP to "pause." The app is only good for continuing long-term services, not a trial. I eventually had to call my bank to have them blocked. Nightmare experience for a trial. I still get emails about a payment to keep services.
If I could give a negative review I would. I never give bad reviews even if things go wrong, however, to say you have 5 days to change ir cancel an order but not even 24 hrs later say it's outside the time to cancel and have my account charged when I was just getting an idea for pricing and not wanting an actual order to be completed is completely unacceptable. I even called and explained it was not to make an order but check out what prices may be. no option for resolution available. horrible
Overall, we really like it. However, I have a number of complaints that are very soon going to make me want to try something else. Just to name a few - I'm very upset that they recently updated the app to remove the vegetarian only option. Huge inconvenience. We recently had a box delivered at 12am. Why??? Fairly often receive missing ingredients, recipes, etc. Customer service is good and they will credit you for your loss.
I have been receiving three meals a week now .I really have no complaints, the service is excellent, and wide selection of meals, when I do have an issue there customer service is right on it. preparation and cooking takes me about an hour per meal. I think I'm spending about the same, but have cut down on on my shopping. if you have the time I would definitely recommend this service
As a pro home cook I will vouch for this. I bumped into this service after having surgery and had a temporary loss of use of my arm. The meals are very delicious. They are easy to put together. My only con is to add a little more veggies to the meals to balance them out as some can be carb heavy. I'm very pleased with the app and the service. I will use this service again. This is great for a beginner cook or someone who needs new meal ideas. Thanks.
I've used HelloFresh on and off for YEARS, over time they've changed to make the experience better, the minimum meals required to place an order is only 2, the meals are always changing and they have a ton of options each week, they've also added snacks, breakfasts and lunch options, most of the meals you make from scratch but they've also added a few ready made meals you can just put in the oven. Food is fresh and instructions are easy to understand.
You can't view past orders even though there is an option for it. The option takes you to the recent order purchased. I'd like to look at past weeks of what I ordered and when. Also, invoices are confusing. They are not itemized, and certain items are charged separately. And when browsing through the menu, you can't "add to cart". If it's something you want, you have to get out of search and change the autoship.
Great meals, fresh ingredients, arrives packed well. I would say the prep time is usually longer than the cooking instructions say it will be, or maybe i just prep slowly. Even when I forget to pick my meals, the ones that are automatically sent have all been really good. I love that its always something new that I would not have thought of to cook. Its affordable too!
The provided meals are ok, but somewhat expensive. While preparing meals at home can be enjoyable time to time, the cost is comparable to that of purchasing meal from various lunch places. A recurring issue appears to be the omission of ingredients from the meal kits. In a recent order placed two weeks ago, five out of fourteen ingredients were missing, including vegetables, spices, and almonds. The company refunded the cost of the meal itself, but not the shipping expenses.
They sent two boxes of food that I never ordered. I had to enter a credit card just to see the ingredients. I didn't like anything they offered, so I never finished any order. Now I see 2 separate charges from Hello Fresh to my credit card. I did not order anything. I have had to cancel my card and will definitely be in touch to complain.
overall, the hellofresh app works pretty well. However in my case, there is absolutely no option either on the app or the website to add, correct, or change or the phone number associated with my account. It simply doesn't appear anywhere under any settings. I can only change my name and email address. I filed a help ticket with the company.
I wish there was a better way to write this but do not get hellofresh I promise you they will find a way to rob you. I have tried them five different times with little consistency either delivering way past in the middle of the night causing spoiled food, constantly going to the wrong place, missing items destroyed items missing ingredients, claiming that it's been delivered when it clearly hasn't. and they're pretty much unwilling to fix most problems who wants a credit for food I needed a week
Pretty expensive. I would consider this a luxury. $70 for 2 meals is insane, but I know it's delivered so they gotta make a profit. In the app you can talk with a chatbot that will eventually give you a button to cancel the subscription, but when that screen opens it stays open for less than 3 seconds then it auto closes & doesn't give you enough time to cancel, and it seems too convenient. If it's a bug it needs to be fixed, but seems like there's a big incentive not to fix it. Video on YT.
Lacking basic features. No notification reminding you to select your meals prior to the cutoff date, which is only 2 days after a previous delivery. No way to view pending charges on your account for a delivery that is being packed. Since I've forgotten to select or pause my meals twice now, due to a lack of notification, it's cost us money we don't have to spare for food we haven't had time to prep (no grace period built in -called the company to ask). Profile tab is also buggy.
Been a customer for years and generally like the service. However, the cooking instruction cards no longer specify the expected quantity of each ingredient. This is a TERRIBLE change that prevents me from knowing if I have been shorted on anything. Frankly, that is not an uncommon event and it was previously easy to discern when unpacking the box and comparing the ingredients list against what was received. Put the quantities back on the cards!
I've done quite a few boxes of Hellofresh over the years, I find the quality and care has declined quite a bit. I have an allergy, and there's no option to keep it from assigning my allergen, sometimes the ingredients in sauces aren't clear, and I have to pay more to not get pork. I have had a huge increase in missing items, damaged items or produce of poor quality or much smaller quantities than on the recipe. I keep having to go to the grocery store to fix the issue, so it defeats the purpose.
Update: Overall, I'm a fan of the app and love HelloFresh. It's upped my cooking game by 1,000. My biggest gripe with the app is that I can't zoom in on the picture of the cooking instructions. Sometimes, I need a better look at the cuts or for any other reason really. I could probably come up with several other changes I'd like to see, but this one always bugs me. Devs, can you please put this happen on the app?
