So my review was removed. It worked great for the first month. A month later it stopped working for my daughter she would be in tears and got in the habit of shouting the word at the tablet. I tired on multiple tablets and phones with head phones. Now i the last week I sit next to both my son and daughter as they have to say the word over and over again and start getting frustrated. They are saying the correct word but it just times out despite the microphone showing it is hearing stuff.
Reviews for Learn to Read – Readability
What an awesome application. It allowed the kids to build confidence in their independent reading and as a bonus my kiddo with speech issues really had to focus on his speech so the ai could understand him.
It I could give 0 stars I would. this app just frustrates struggling readers by not letting them sound the word out and despite them saying the word not picking up on it.
The app froze and would not let us in it kept asking for us to subscribe even though we have already subscribed. It seemed like it was going to be decent, but it did miss words that my son said correctly
My son struggles with speech delays that affect how he hears and forms sounds. He also has dyslexia. Reading has been a mountain he could not conquer. In just a few short weeks of using this app he has improved so much. Seeing his confidence grow and hearing him sound out the words and read them on his own is amazing. He has gone from reluctant to excited. Thank you for this wonderful tool!!
this app is bad on so many levels. max time for the kids to sound out a difficult word is seven seconds. The K level books are harder than they should be. When it has to help with a difficult word, it doesn't sound out the word for the kid so they can learn how to sound things out, just reads the word to them. this doesn't work to teach reading, it's just teaching sight words. only redeeming factor is the free trial. canceled immediately
My country uses the UK language. But despite choosing the UK tutor voice, the words are still being read using the US language. So i have to always correct my son. And sometimes when my son says a word, the app is unable to recognise his voice and kept asking him to repeat the words. so it became very frustrating for my son. Other than these 2 issues, it looks like a good app.
What I love about this app is that readability allows your child to read books and passages that are at a level that they are at. The book highlights the word you are supposed to be reading aloud as it listens to your words it will also help you along as well. For example, if you cannot read a specific word a message will pop up prompting you to ask for help by clicking on the speaker button and it will allow your child to hear what they are supposed to be reading. I highly encourage this app!
Need to boost the volume. The app is great for kids needing a little more help with reading in a fun quick way. The app helps them read with fluency and teaches words they may not know how to pronounce/ helps to correct their pronunciation. My child enjoys using this app however at times the volume is low. No matter what setting I use I can barely hear the words and my child has severe hearing loss so he not hear the words at that setting.
You're supposed to repeat sight words to the AI, and it literally never hears you. It's really hard to learn when you're stuck on something the child already knows, and the AI will not let you move past it. Both my daughter and I find it very frustrating. Luckily, I didn't pay for this, and I just did a free trial because it's absolutely garbage. I like the dyslexia feature, but if the rest of the app is unusable, it doesn't matter that it has that accessibility feature.
