I was originally a college major for deaf studies and ASL interpreting and the program was discontinued. I had about a year left and switched my major to special education. I have been working with more students who need or use ASL and learned the hard way "If you don't use it, you lose it". The app is definitely pricey but worth it. I was able to pick up very quickly but it's great as a refresher as well! I do have so feedback but I don't have enough word space for it. It freezes sometimes.

Did the free trial, but despite selecting the monthly charge, I was charged the annual charge. They make it very difficult to dispute or contact them about the issue. I will update if they fix it, but very frustrated. The annual is MUCH higher than monthly, and didn't like having my subscription level switched. Otherwise I would have given their app 4-5 stars. It works well, and is much like Duolingo.

It's a great app until you get halfway though chapter 2. I got through 9 lessons (5 in ch 1 and 4 in ch 2) before it made me pay to learn more. I would give it a higher rating if there was more you could do without paying or at least a lower price. 120$/year or 17.99$/month just seems absurd. You shouldn't have to pay to learn how to speak in asl. I can't even use the trainer anymore.

Absolutely brilliant app for learning BSL. Think it teaches ASL too! I'm learning BSL because I'm going deaf, I'm hard of hearing at the moment. The app itself works well - no glitches so far and I'm on 17 days. I love the 2 people doing the lessons. The lessons are prerecorded. It has a mirror function so you can copy the signs at the bottom whilst the signer is in the video above. You can also click the tortoise and it slows the signing down. I'm that happy with it I've paid premium.

Im only giving it two stars because after getting through the first chaper and 4/6 lessons in the second, they make you upgrade to their premium in order for you to continue taking lessons. It would've been five stars if they would let you continue to learn for free with ads or if they told you up front that you will have to buy their membership.

I thought they would offer just the basics for free and then pay options for further lessons. but you only get a few free lessons and then everything is behind an expensive pay wall. I just want to learn for fun and it is quite expensive for that in my opinion. the app itself from the first few lessons I got to try seemed really helpful.

it was really nice and easy to get started and easy to navigate and I was super excited about it until I got to the end of lesson 4 in unit 2 bc you absolutely must pay to use the rest of the app. kinda thought it would be like duolingo for asl where you get all basic features and can pay to get upgrades but I guess not :/

I really love this app—it’s been a great tool for learning, and I’ve picked up a lot from it. It’s also made it much easier to teach my toddler in a way that’s fun and engaging for both of us. My only real suggestion is to expand the dictionary with more words. A larger vocabulary bank would make the app even more useful for both personal learning and teaching young kids.

The overall format and idea is great, the visuals and style is great, its informative and helpful for about 2 seconds. Until everything is blocked by a pay wall. Luckily, I found some free and helpful ways to learn ASL, so I'm not too upset- but im working on low income, and the money they want is crazy amounts. There should be at least a way to learn without having to pay. I played for 3 days, unable to continue past chapter 2 because I dont have money to pay for a subscription! made me sad.

I agree with most other reviews. I would keep the app if it weren't for the subscription because theres tons of free options online. It's up to you if the $17 is worth the convenience of not having to dig for lessons online. I personally prefer in person ASL classes and would rather put money toward that. Over all, super easy to use and understand. I would recommend it as an introduction to ASL.

You absolutely must pay to get past chapter 2. When I got this yesterday it seemed like it was going to be optional to get more features if you pay more, but you can still do the basic features and of course still be able to learn all the chapters. That is not the case I made it to the end of chapter 1 and I think middle of chapter 2 and it no longer lets me progress without starting a subscription. That being said the few that I did learn were helpful.

It's a decent app. I paid for the $15.99 3 months subscription. With how the app is so limited, I can confirm that it's not worth the price that they're charging. You can only see the signs from one angle, so it's not that great on teaching finger position. They could bring all their subscription for you prices down by at least $5, and it would be worth it.

A really awesome resource for anyone looking to learn ASL!! I only wish the dictionary was a little more robust (I've noticed several words are missing after coming up in lessons). I also wish practice rounds counted towards the daily activity. I only have time for a lesson most days, so I forget a lot of what's been covered.

I downloaded the app and paid for a year. After the first section, the app wouldn't let me continue without setting up a profile and paying. Again. I contacted their support team. Here is the response. "Thanks for reaching out! Please allow us 7 business days to respond to your ticket as we address them in the order they are received." Seriously? I guess I'll have to learn via YouTube this weekend.

the app is really helpful and I learned some cool words but only SOME Because almost immediately, you have to pay to continue learning and that's not good for kids like me who can't pay money and who's parents can't pay for it either. it was really disappointing, I was really hoping to learn more than what the free version of this app had to offer. other than that, really good app! if you have the money, I'd recommend it!

I am really enjoying this app! I am learning a lot. however, I have noticed some odd gaps in the dictionary. For example, the dictionary includes random words like tennis and quinoa but not very basic and important words like hot or cold. I would give 5 stars if these and other important words were included! especially because I am paying for a subscription...

I like the app and the overall structure of it. It's easy to learn and they also include variations of the same "word" and different people doing the same signs, which I really appreciate. I would like there to be a back button during the lessons, cause once you move on, that's it. The sign may come back up, but I rather do things at my own pace. also, it's highly disappointing that other than 1.5 lessons, it's all behind a paywall

It's a wonderful app and I really like the interface and learning style. But its become unaccessible to me and I hate that. I cant afford the subscription so I have to find another way to learn now. I wish you could continue learning but the subscription gave you extras and perks, like duolingo. It'd be 5 stars then.

GREAT app!! Super easy UI. Clear, simple instructions. They start off nice & slow. I literally learned/felt comfortable remembering 20 different sings in like 10 minutes!! I've only just started so I'm sure it will get harder, but this app is a great place to start. I would've given it 5 ⭐ if it weren't for the PRICE 💰 💵 !! Imo, it's NOT cheap. I'll see how much I can get out of the 7 day trial & go from there. if you NEED to/are required to learn ASL, this app is DEFINITELY worth it.

I took a few in person classes a few years ago but stopped when the pandemic happened. I've wanted to get back into signing and I found this app. Overall, I REALLY enjoy it. The free trail was enough for me to get a picture of how the learning is structured so I made the purchase. My only real issue is that there is this one guy on there that doesn't sign clearly. It makes it more difficult to understand and learn how to sign a word properly and it's frustrating to try and guess what hes saying.
