Lyft just did it to me again - showed me a lower price, but then charged me extra after the fact. This is illegal bc it's considered fraud. Bye Lyft. ------------- The drivers are nice and rides are efficient. What's not ok is the app itself. It showed a ride for $20. I clicked "select" and, without even asking, the app adds $2 more as the request goes through. I cancelled immediately and used Uber to get home. Bc, Lyft, you don't get to charge extra WITHOUT MY PERMISSION or consent.

The list should be saved locally and then just search the address after I've chosen it. Customer support is also abysmal. I had an ongoing issue with a ride, and all I can get is some AI chat bot that is slow and can't understand what I'm asking. I should be able to reach someone for urgent issues. If I didn't have to use this for work, I wouldn't.
Lyft app doesn't provide an audible (jingle) notification when driver has arrived anymore. Can't tell you how many times I almost missed my ride after they showed up and waited - had no idea they were sitting outside my house. Lyft has no app feedback option within the app, so I'm putting it here so everyone can see. And, yes, had my notifications on with sound turned all the way up.
The freeze on payment screen is a fraudulent way to upcharge customers on rides. I notice that when I select an affordable option and then try to pay the screen freezes. I then have to go out of the app and come back in to a price hike of $2.50 - $17 for the ride. When I googled to find out if it was just me I found that other customers experience this too.
Selected "Wait and Save" because it was $3 cheaper. I waited for 15 minutes, THEN they pretended to search for a driver, which I had to wait over 10 minutes for and still no driver. So I opened Uber and immediately got a driver and only had a 5 minute picking wait (Though they kept trying to upgrade my $9 ride to a $24 ride.) Now the app won't even load properly anymore. I switched phones and it still won't load past selecting my destination. Horrible. It's been over 2 years. No change.
Wouldn't let me request a ride without forcing me to sit through what was basically a timed add promoting their "more comfortable" rides. The only way to get through it more quickly was to pay extra for a ride I didn't need. At the same time, the app kept losing connection (wasnt having trouble with anything else on my phone), which caused me to accidentally select the wrong drop off. Changed the drop off location only 2 minutes into the ride and got charged for a whole new ride.
Did not show estimated time or pickup location until after cancelation fee applies. Did not have accurate instructions to location, and did not allow nearly enough time to get there. Driver refused to answer 3 calls and 1 message. Never responded. We were charged a cancelation fee. Not only was a refund denied ... there isn't even a way to request it! "10 minutes away" took 5 minutes, and the app didn't tell us which floor to be on in a 3 story airport garage ...
I'm writing here because there's no way to provide generic feedback in the app, only their preselected options. After waiting 5 minutes for a driver when told 1-3 and the message saying a few seconds more for several minutes, it popped up an offer to pay about 50% more to get a driver assigned in 6 minutes. They clearly put in lower time estimates when busy when busy and hope you'll just wait.
You can't see the pin on the map to choose your pickup spot anymore. It is completely covered by driver info and stupid ads filling the screen with no way to minimize. Also there is no way to report issues in the app - only options are the driver did something wrong or the customer did something wrong. Nothing about how the app is working or not working. Very poor customer service. Drivers are usually great though!
Terrible app and service brings more stress to your day. I consistently have to wait 2-5x the quoted time, sometimes they don't find a driver at all after waiting 15 minutes for one that cancels. When I do get a ride, the app freezes and I can't tell when they've arrived. I don't know if the business model is floundering, but the service and app don't work anymore.
constant up-sales and poor service Constantly trying to sell you a more expensive upgrade, for what is essentially the same service. Unreliable at finding a driver in a reasonable amount of time, even though I know there are dozens in a 2 mile radius. The app acts like there are no drivers around to try to get you to pay more money for an "upgrade". Just waited 20 min to finally be matched with a driver "18 min" away. I requested a ride early to avoid traffic, guess I am missing my class.
'Wait And Save' is an actual scam. Half the time, you end up paying practically the same exact price for an almost ridiculous wait time, and the other half it gives you a closer ride *without your permission* and foots a hidden bill at the end. Also, when they match you with a closer ride, they dont even tell you without having to manually look at the app. I've been charged a "no-show" fee and not gotten a ride twice before despite being three minutes EARLY to the time I was originally told.
Using a pass to book a ride is so frustrating. when I check my payment methods, the passes I added simply doesn't show up. Further last week there was a glitch and I couldn't cancel a ride I requested, no drivers assigned, the associated amount from my passport also got deducted. Finally there is no option to talk to customer care if there is no ride associated with the issues
This app used to do so well! I don't know what happened! prices are absolutely ridiculous! This doesn't include the influx! I tried to catch a lyft it was 40 dollars off a busy day, the same route on a busy day was 200 dollars! obviously I didn't pay so I had to wait. And we know dang well the drivers dont get all of that! Very disappointing. Bring back the old ways!
Keeps lying about wait times, "priority" pickup is just more expensive for no benefit, if you cancel a ride for being double the predicted wait time and rebook the price can double or triple, the price will increase significantly if you just look away for long enough before confirming a booking. Drivers are usually fine but they're underpaid. Has resulted in me being late for work when I should have had plenty of time to wait for pickup and make it. Predatory pricing and policies.
I used to love this app, but lately, it's been a nightmare. From the price changes to the dreaded driver details taking FOREVER to when you're at the second mark, you get an error to TRY AGAIN, and the price shoots up DOUBLE than it was less than 10 mins ago. Double the price! That's robbery! Then they stick you in a queue, so you're waiting. People have to work. We don't have time to wait yet another 15 mins for ride details. CANCEL! I tried Uber, No price changes, No driver details NO ISSUES!
I don't know if it's the area I live in or what, but I have had multiple terrible experiences with this app. One was during a large concert and I thought, okay, they were just overwhelmed, but just now on a normal Saturday morning, I watched my driver drive right past me without even thinking of stopping and it was taking forever to find a new driver. Even when working well, wait times are very long even at the priciest option. Quicker and easier to bother friends for a ride.
Lyft 'corrected' my destination multiple times, and now I'm stuck going to the wrong airport terminal. To fix this, they want to charge me the price of a second ride. I've been trying to contact Lyft for 20 minutes, but there is no ability to do that. I called, a robot told me to chat in the app and hung up. The chat in the app does not work. It seems Lyft cannot possibly imagine that their app could cause a problem.
I'm having issues leaving a custom tip - especially when I don't do it right away and I have to go back through history and try to add tip later! I hit custom tip, and then key it in and then save and it doesn't work! The only working option is to select one of the pre-defined tips! $2, $3, $5 or $0! In this case the ride was $8 and I don't feel like tipping $2 which is 25% as the minimum tipping amount! The custom feature tip does not work! This has been going on for several months!
Don't bother trying to get a "wait and save", just wait for the fees to change yourself as it has a good chance of being ignored by drivers that are supposedly 4-6 minutes away. Don't spend the extra for price lock, it just deters drivers. I just spent over 2 hours for a "45 minute wait" that never even got picked up. Then they'll try to charge you a cancellation fee when you decide to finally give up. No support, just revolving FAQ bs. 2 stars only because most of the drivers are great.
