I've been using this app for a year now. I've done 2 cut periods during that time and 2 maintenance periods (one 10 day vacation too). I'm currently working on my 3rd weight cut. This will get me to my leanest weight, afterwards I will plan on adding muscle. The app makes weight loss easy. I've always hit my goal in within a week or so of the initial estimate. I log everything and let the app tell me my macros for the week. I've never known weight success like this before and I'm 51.
Reviews for MacroFactor - Macro Tracker
← Back to MacroFactor - Macro TrackerI love all of the features of this app! its highly intuitive, easy to track, and there arent a bunch of incorrect user entries like the free food trackers. I love that it recalibrates my goals each week (this is coach mode). I reached out to customer service and they got back to me same day and accommodated my request! this app is worth it and I will definitely be subscribing when my trial ends
This is an exceptional app. I used it for my first-ever cut and successfully lost over 20 pounds in just over 10 weeks. The interface is incredibly intuitive and easy to navigate. I particularly valued the ability to plan my meals in advance, which eliminated any stress about my diet. The app provides a flawless roadmap; any errors in my diet were my own. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about their fitness goals.
I really wanted to like this app, because I do like the concept behind it. That said, inputting recipes is extremely clunky. Even finding where the recipes are saved is a pain. Since I mainly eat home-cooked food, this is a significant downside. I was also disappointed by the lack of a browser version, if only so I could look at charts on a larger screen. One thing I did like about the app is that it's easy to see the breakdown of amino acids.
My experience with this app hasn't been great. One issue is how food is entered: it separates adding food from logging food. The problem is that if you don't enter all your food fast enough, everything you've already added is discarded and you have to start over. Happened 3 times now. Foods should just be logged as soon as you add them. The food library seems worse than others. The UI could use some work. Overall, mid-tier for a paid app, considering there are many solid free ones.
the only thing I hope they'll address is the accuracy of scanning. I get very different information when I scan items versus what the packing says. otherwise I feel like it's a superior calorie tracker. it also doesn't gameify the using experience so there's no incentive to continue to get smaller if that's not your goal which I really appreciate compared to other calorie trackers
I really like this app but the lack of custom macros is a pain. I'd like to have a bit more control over it as balanced cranks fats higher than why I'm aim for but low fat takes them a bit too low. there needs to be a middle ground to bias it to either side similar to how many options there are with the protein settings. I would say it's great for beginners but meh for late intermediate to advanced.
This is by far the most seamless and easy-to-use macro/calorie-counting app I've ever used. I have gotten better results in the couple of months I've used Macro Factor than years on other apps. The only criticism I have is that the expenditure is only calculated by steps. When I am lifting or swimming or on a stationary bike there's a large chunk of my expenditure missing. I wish there was a way to manually add my expenditure per day, since I have a garmin watch it doesn' pair with Macrofactor.
Really solid and customizable nutrition app that's well worth the price imo. I'm impressed with how well the AI scanner can identify food and portions, it's a god send. My only real complaint is that after scanning with the AI and adding a meal, you can't edit the ingredients again. That would be a really great feature to add on. Other than that, it's dang near perfect.
Been using since April 2023 and it's by far the best I've ever tried. The amount of times it has not been able to find a food could probably be counted on 2 hands in over 2 years. Beautiful, clean, organized. Dashboard customizable so you're looking at only the info you care about. AI knows when to raise or lower my calories depending on activity. Syncs with other apps so all my data is taken into account. I've lost 20lbs in the last 7mos and I'm not even trying as hard as I should be. GET IT!
Standout feature for me is the AI estimate by picture. Sometimes need to provide a bit more context or tweak results, but ultimately it makes random meals or eating out far simpler to track, which means I'll actually do it. Most of keeping the calories in check is just knowing what's going in, so that alone is worth the cost here.
Phenomenal app. It's my favorite app-ever. Not just for fitness. It's so well-made. Excellent product. Well worth your money. So helpful for weight loss. I love how it tracks all your data- that's very motivating for me to see my progress like that. I almost never review apps, but I had to this time because it's that good.
Logging food is okay, though not very intuitive at all and some of the macro counts are wildly off. Sure wish I could sync it with my tracker watch....not everybody uses an Apple, you know. The recommended daily caloric intake was around 1200 calories, which is a joke, so I just ignore that part of it. Overall...disappointing. Less user friendly than Myfitnesspal. I won't be renewing my subscription next year.
This is the best food tracker. It's the only one that dynamically adjusts your calorie targets based on your current running average so you don't need a separate spreadsheet. My only criticism is that it doesn't handle the "whoosh effect" very well during a cut. If you plateau for a week or so it'll cut your calories even after the whoosh happens and you've rapidly dropped weight back onto the trend, then it doesn't correct back up very quickly, leaving your deficit too large.
I'm not sure if I can trust the MacroFactor algorithm. I've been logging my weight and food intake very accurately for the past six days, and I've consistently achieved a large calorie deficit alongside daily workouts. However, the MF expenditure looks much higher than it should be, and the strategy does not adapt at all, still showing a much higher kcal target. If I were to follow the app's recommendations, I would actually gain weight instead of losing it.
I had used Lose It! for years and had great success losing weight, but I finally wanted to commit to a bulk so I was willing to spend a little money to do it with a solid calorie tracker. In only a week I've been blown away by the adaptability of this app and the incredible versatility! Bulking, cutting, or maintaining, Macrofactor does it all and adapts as long as you're logging! Worth every penny.
This is the first time I've been able to consistently track my food. It's easy to enter food, and it doesn't matter if you get everything perfect because it helps you track trends. If you're a person who under-estimates portions, it adjusts goals based on your input. I've been using this app since the beginning of 2025 and as of today, have lost 31 pounds by tracking food AND exercising 3-5 times a week. (I didn't lose weight well only by tracking. Exercise is necessary!)
The app is okay. Its hard to see trends for all the macros at the same time without clicking into each one individually which is super annoying. My biggest issue is that majority of the pre-loaded foods have incorrect nutrition information. If they can't ensure accurate data from nutrition labels, how can I put any faith into the other features of this app?
It's a killer app. I've already lost 5 pounds on less than a months time. Very intuitive and by far the best macro tracker, even compared to MyFitnessPal. The AI to type in things makes life convenient too. Suggestion 8/28/24: It would be great if Ai describe can do multiple items at once. Example: 4 oz of chicken breast , 100 G of rice , 100 G of broccoli. " Hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to make that update!
I've been using this app for about 5 days now. I think the app is very useful if you're just tracking macros. I've been going to the gym these past couple of days, and my calorie intake doesn't change. I have to go to lifesum my other macro app to track my calories from consumption to burnt from physical activities. Overall, I would give this app a 5 star just for the diet aspect, but I think it's missing a vital part, so for my needs, it gets a 3.
