Reviews for MediaMonkey Pro

I would very likely give MediaMonkey a full 5 stars if it weren't for the couple of issues that I have had to work around. Still, I give it 4 overall. The only thing that I would say is that the feature that drew me to it, the wifi sync for music, wasn't the cleanest experience that it could have been. Also, album art has been a regular and still existing issue. It does not appear in the vast majority of my library. If fixed, I would say the Pro purchase is worth it.

Best mp3 organizer to sync Android and Windows. Can select which items sync (can set it up for multiple devices with different sync lists that can overlap, including playlists). It's a little difficult to use at first, I'm somewhat computer savvy and needed to look into the faqs and message boards a bit but got everything I needed. It has a lot more advanced features I don't use too, for more tech savvy users to enjoy.

Love it! This was exactly what i was lookig for. It has flexibility and customizations for me to search my music the way I have it stored (Digital doesn't mean much if it takes 5 minutes to find the song you want. Might as well be hitting fast forward on a cassette tape). Media monkey cuts through all that mess and has the options you want Now... AND more options you didn't even know existed, to explore later. Great job media monkey!

Great player! I wanted control over my music, so after some research I chose Media Monkey. I love the sleek, clean interface. Exactly what I wanted. It lists my Artists, Tracks, and any playlists I make. Can sort however I wish! Just two issues. The album art changes to the wrong album/artist, and it picks up podcast episodes in the track list. So 4 stars. Not sure how to fix this but other than that, great player. Would be even better if I could buy & download music through Media Monkey too!

Not worth a penny., only good if you want to use album art and sort all your music by albums, it fights you every step of the way to do otherwise, and you don't mind having to correct errors every time you sync. Syncing is very undependable and takes forever to set up. I just decided to move to a different product. I may even go back to the Samsung built in and just sync by copying over the master folder from my PC every few months; that only takes a few minutes and I've wasted hours already trying to do it their way. Online help is terrible and even internet searches turn up more out-of-date info than useful info.

Mostly, this app works well. There are a few deal breakers: #1 - notifications interrupting music can be hit and miss depending on OS or manufacturer of your phone. #2 changes to star ratings, genre, etc made in the mobile app are not actually saved in the ID3 tag of the song, so if you move the SD card your songs are on to a new phone, no changes you made will follow the songs to a new installation of MMA or any other media player. #3 playlists cannot be reordered in any way other than manually track by track - also the app allows dupes of any song in any given playlist which can be hard to find if you can't reorder the tracks. *** If these things can be fixed, I'll try the app again and will rate higher.

Ok, so I've sunk 4 consecutive days working with this. The concept borders on genius, but the application is horrible. Regardless of what I do, I cannot get my library to "sync" from windows to android. The best effort scattered 7,000+ files across multiple random folders. The app is garbage. Half the time album art is found, then when reloading because something went wrong elsewhere it isn't. Files are duplicated, The app version absolutely will not "scan" and add all items. I have the paid version of the app, and I would pay far more than the suggested price for the PC version if it worked as advertised. There isn't even a support page on the website, let alone any kind of contact info. The only video or text based instructions are nearly a decade old. If anyone has any suggestions, I would give it another try, but I think this thing is broken beyond repair. 0 stars isn't low enough.

Been using this app on Android and PC for years and love it. The free version is good enough for many people, but I paid for it to get some of the features offered in the paid version. The shuffle button is not intuitive, or in a place you would expect. I turn shuffle playlist on and off frequently when switching between music and audiobooks. I have made playlist on the android app, but I usually make my playlists on the PC and wirelessly sync to my phone.

By far the best app for cataloging and playing music, though that's more because of the associated PC program. If you have a lot of songs and don't like streaming, there's nothing better... I've tried over a dozen programs for that purpose and MM, is definitely on top. Also the MediaMonkey team are very quick to respond to and assist with issues, as I found out when my iPod classic was having sync issues.

I've been a fan of PC based MediaMonkey for many years, so it only seemed fitting to use the mobile version. Functionally the app is great. The issue I'm running into is that the library creates multiples of songs, this seems to happen with updates of the app. For example some tracks I've had the longest will have up to 6 copies, while more recent tracks may only have one duplicate. The numbers vary, as do the affected tracks. This paid app has become a nightmare

I've had it on my phones for a while, but never really used it up till recently. For listening to music I still really like it. Recently I have been trying to migrate away from my iPod use, but have found myself limited by the fact that you can't speed up podcast or audio books on the media monkey mobile app. I would be more then willing to contribute to a crowd fund or purchase an upgrade to this app. If that what is needed to make this happen. Media monkeys primary appplication I have been using for over 10 years now, and am very happy with. Unable to change speeds for podcasts and audiobooks is the missing feature in this mobile app for so long is the reason why I give it 3 stars.

The best media app for consistency across devices. It takes a bit to set up, but being able to have numerous devices that automatically sync makes managing a large personal media library a breeze. No complaints with the software other than occasional sync bugs that a restart fixes. I've been using the program for 4 or 5 years now, and I still wish I had found it sooner.

The UI is useable, albeit overcomplicated in a lot of ways. The app has all the features I wanted in a media player, but the sync from my PC to my android phone was essentially impossible. I sunk hours into trying to get it to work - from USB, to Wi-Fi sync, and even using an external SD card. I just couldn't make it work, and it's now the reason I'm now looking for a different service.

Very good for how I use it. Easy to play a mix based on your personal song ratings, then on the fly switch to a playing song's album, or to see/jump to other of that artist's albums or songs you have on your device. Very easy to search/store song lyrics while a song is playing too. It's not nearly as easy to enter/modify key MP3 file song properties though (genre, song title, year, etc.), hence my not giving 5 stars.

I LOVE this app. It's easy to use, you can make changes on your phone or desktop and after you do, they sync together to keep your music safe. It also has a backup option that you can set up on a schedule or just use it manually. You can set it up to make it as simple or as complicated as you want (tons of settings for those who want to get deep in to their music setup). And, when I needed help, their customer support was terrific. I couldn't be more happy with Music Monkey.

As a music player, it is great, EXCEPT the app starts playing the music when you use your Bluetooth earphones, and YOU DIDN'T WANT IT TO! The developer's words to my question about a "stop" button were: "We didn't bother with a 'Stop' button since you can just pause music to the same effect.' Uh, except it does not stay paused until you tell it to play. Touching any button on the ear plugs or headset can result in the music playing. If I find a better app, I will be switching.

Best app of this kind I've had so far, it does a lot of different things and still figuring it out. From what I get last FM doesn't handle you tube music, so that part of it kind of sucks. Set it to start playing as soon as it hooks up to Bluetooth and no longer punching buttons when I get in the car or turn on the boom box, just turn it up!

I would give 5 stars. The Auto play is annoying even after disabling. Still plays. Clearing the queue should be simple just clear. Delete from library shouldn't be an option. I wish album view was sorted by year unless I'm missing something. I've used Subsonic in the past and loved it but they haven't updated app in years and don't allow the user to select file location which is a big plus with Media Monkey. Overall pleased with app.

when you purchase pro, it does not transfer to your new phone. I know this because I have twice purchased pro, and now, on this phone, I am back to the version with fewer features and an option to purchase pro once again. The basic version does not shuffle as well as it used to; it picks an artist and plays most of their songs with a few others in my library mixed in. I am constantly hearing from 4 artists and their various albums with repeats of the same songs as well.

it's like this app, and it's PC companion, were written by people who know nothing about music. every time I get a new phone, and I think my library from my PC to my phone, and never brings any of my album artwork. then I have to spend a few months with the app open and up on my phone in order to download the album artwork all over again. I have all the right boxes checked, including save artwork to file, but it does not work.
