At this point this app is malfunctioning and useless. I can connect my Muse 2 properly using the Muse app but this Mind Monitor app has only worked 2 out of 15 times. I see no on/off connection indicator. I have found no customer support where I can address this problem. When this app did connect (twice) it was excellent. Don't know how that happened...!?! Uninstalled/reinstalled 3xs frustrated. The head band works fine. My phone is a Pixel 7 pro. My head band is a Muse 2 less than a month old.
Reviews for Mind Monitor
← Back to Mind MonitorBig thanks to James for quick support and an awesome app. I have obtained a muse two for some exploratory research and this app and the website supporting it was perfect. I went from receiving headset to having raw data on Excel and graphs without a hitch.
Great app would love to have the ability to convert the recording into graphs without needing the online website I would also recommend adding a message telling the user to close the muse app and re open mind monitor if you can't sync for more than 30 seconds
hey james :-) GREAT app!!!! so happy i can record the actual brainwaves instead of just using the muse app without knowing what brainwaves they use 2 detect active/neutral/calm... i have a question for u after reading this >>> "The Muse headset has relative high Delta values. As James - the developer of MuseMonitor - explains there are 2 reasons : 1) During eye movement there are electrical (non brain) signals that make big slow (relatively) arcs in the raw data. These electrical currents interfere with the brain data, especially in the lowest frequency band and causes Delta to rise. So – while recording a session – try to avoid eye movements. 2) It is due to the kind of FFT (fast fourier) calculation the Muse headset uses. Because the EEG wave bands represent a power spectrum, their values will vary exponentially, meaning the lower-frequency bands (such as delta and theta) will be exponentially larger values than the higher-frequency bands (alpha and beta)." so when u say 'exponentially larger' ,what does this exactly mean? lets say for example muse monitor shows in DB 100 for delta,80theta,60alpha,40beta,20gamma - what would the 'real' numbers b?
Muse Monitor is a precise app to go with the Muse head band. It completely helped me get my brainwaves recorded and coverted into the graph on my PC. JAMES the creator is always available and is very prompt in responding to any questions one has about the product and its functionality. I am very happy and fully satisfied.
I've been messing around with the Muse brainwave headband for years. Seeing what Mind Monitor can do with visualizing the output of various brainwaves, specifically being able to separate out specific waves to visualize... and then to differentiate the waves coming from the front of the brain versus the back of the brain, it adds a new dimension of being able to isolate one particular brainwave pattern and do biofeedback on that wavelength alone... Fascinating.
Same experience as Pablo. I've uninstalled Muse and kept Mind Monitor running and record in the fore ground. But the horse shoes sensors did not seem to pick up brain waves, though it is still paired with my muse2. Accelerometer etc works fine and the signals jump when I twitch my eye brows etc. Just seems that it somehow doesnt pick up Alpha to Thetha signals after sometime. Remaining flat at 50.0dB. Would give it a 5 if it works all the time. Please help us check this out? Using samsung. Thx!
An excellent app. Exactly the piece of information that I need from the Muse headband. I really think this app is a critical compliment to the interaxon app. Data viewing is pretty straighforward, eventhough I thought it will be very convenient if user could review the data right from the app. I also find this app to make better connection to muse 2 headband in comparison to the official app. Looking forward to a complete set of sensor data information (PPG and so on)
I'm experiencing unreliable recording of sessions using the pixel 7 pro. I'll hit record, it shows it recording, and often end up with a fraction of a session or nothing gets saved at all. This has been happening consistently for the last several weeks.
I really love this application. I'm an insomniac and am really interested in how my brainwaves function while I am meditating and asleep. Before I found Muse and the Muse Monitor application, this would only have been possible by going to an expensive sleep clinic. I love that when using this app, I feel like I'v e turned my own home into a mini sleep clinic. Works great! I assume any connectivity issue is due to the muse hardware headband, as I have the same issues with the Muse application itself. Simple and self-explanatory to use. In terms of customer service, I would give this 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Had an issue with graphing in Excel because I had an old Excel version. Contacted the developer and he got back to me personally within hours and helped me resolve the problem. Can't speak highly enough of this app!
By far the best I can ever find. But too bad that I can't find muse headband for windows 10. The muse direct isn't found anymore so I purchased this app. And it's what I wanted. Keep up the good work. Oh and I can use this to measure emotional activity using gamma waves for positive and negative feedback. I think in your next update would be a idea?
I love this app, when it works well. Unfortunately, one out of three or four times the app wont' record my meditation session with Muse. I turn it on at the beginning of the session, but when the session is over and I go back to the app to stop the recording, it is no longer recording anything. Very frustrating.
great app! it gives more room for interpretation of data than Muse app. also support from James is very responsive. totally worth the price!
I have only just purchased Mind Monitor but immediately can see that it is much more accurate than the Muse app in determining whether all sensors are connecting properly. I also love that I can get a graph of my brain waves. Finally, I am really impressed by the helpfulness of James, the developer. He has responded to a number of my queries promptly and without talking down to me which is so rare these days. I have given the app 4 stars until I have more time to play with it.
James, the app developer, is literally incredible for what he has done with this app and the continued support he has provided. I really can't think of any other app that does as much as what this does. I use this with the new Athena model, and I am absolutely blown away by how fast James turned around an update to get this app working with the new model. There is nothing better, I guarantee it. Thank you James and anyone else who have worked to put this together!
Wish it had a couple of things but overall 5 Like another reviewer mentioned would be great if he could add a sound you could associate with a specified wave, or when it gets to a certain level the sound is triggered. Also I use a screen recording app to monitor my session, wish you could do that within the app. But having said that it's an awesome tool and really thankful to the developer for doing it. I would definitely pay extra for a few bells and whistles... In app purchase?
I enjoy the current settings, but am hoping for a future version that will notify the user with a tone when certain highs, lows, or combinations are achieved. Since the only way to monitor is to watch. Watching blocks certain waves from happening, giving no way to have any kind of feedback unless someone else watches the display while you practice your meditation. Added: Biofeedback basics are getting relevant information during practice so you can adjust accordingly... after the fact doesn't help.
I'm not a "computer person"; so I have a lot of questions (mainly about how to download raw brain wave data to my pc for graphing in excel. James promptly responded to my questions and within a few hours, I was able to download the first set of raw data onto my pc via dropbox. The app was exactly what I was looking for; it costs much less than muse-direct and works with both apple and android (while muse-direct only works with apple). More importantly, James is very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this product.
Does not offer audio feedback. Very frustrating. I would like to select a waveband and train it, but can't. This is very helpful for those recovering from stroke and brain damage. Why is this not implemented? I need it.... Closed eyes feedback is superior, the visual display is not helpful. It should be once a certain level of db is reached a bell would sound, or if db is increasing on selected wavelength a sound is produced (ex: left hemisphere sensor, db 60, alpha) nothing fancy.....useless ap
It's an excellent app. Two things at it would be perfect: 1) I really wish I could leave it on in the background 2) I wish I could record sessions and see the record immediately in the app right afterwards. Some brainwaves only change from things other than looking at brainwaves, so it would be nice to capture that and see it. Overall, this is the best thing out there for reading brainwaves with your phone, as far as I know.
