So here's my honest take on Morcombe's Birds of Australia. I've tested a bunch of nature/wildlife apps and this one's up there. The image quality is fantastic and the search/browsing features work really well. But I do wish the initial download was smaller - had to wait a while for it to finish. And the ads can get a little annoying if you don't pay. Overall though, it's a pretty comprehensive field guide that's easy to use. I'd recommend it if you're into birds and want a good app to ID species.

Description

Been using Morcombe’s Birds of Australia for a couple months now. It’s basically a field guide app with tons of info on Australian birds. Pretty solid if you’re into nature and wildlife.

Here’s what you can do: you can swipe through over 3,000 high-res bird images covering 790 species. And there’s also detailed descriptions and distribution maps for most birds. It’s got some really cool features like one-tap zoom and landscape mode to see the images bigger.

Look, if you’re a birdwatcher or just interested in Aussie wildlife, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the 325MB download is kind of a pain – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.

A fantastic app. I use it regularly. The drawings are superb and the large number of different bird calls per species is invaluable.
