Updated: If I could give this app zero stars I would, just got scammed into paying another year even though I only got 9 months with my first year and only 3 songs. DON'T BUY Paid for a year subscription but could never access any music, everytime I tried to access sheet music I got a pop-up asking for me to start a subscription to access which I have already paid for. Very frustrating and now I am out the yearly subscription I paid for. I do not recommend this App or site for music options.
Reviews for MuseScore: sheet music
← Back to MuseScore: sheet musicMy original complaint was that you could compose with that app, but now that app also doesn't use MuseSounds when listening to a piece (like how the website does). I also don't like the fact that the app nor the website have a dark mod, which can be kinda harsh to look at. The complaints are still pretty small, but the fact I still can compose with the app is still a big one for me.
I have an account already, but it forces the create account option. There is no method to login even after I tried me email address and it told me I need to login. Also, looking at other reviews just made me uninstall. They do have very predatory practices on their site too. There's probably a better community and app(s) to compose or arrange music.
What an absolutely horrific app and website. You buy one song and you have no idea that you're getting sucked into a "free trial" that ends after one month, and then you get billed $39.99 automatically each month after that? There's not even a place to cancel the subscription or get in touch with someone. Whoever made this app, do better. You should find ways to sell the music without having to sucker people into subscription hell.
they automatically billed me $40 for buying one sheet music score. a "free" 7 day trial was automatically added to my cart at checkout with no way to remove it. I tried to change my subscription in the app and the website to end the free trial, but there was no option to. I assumed it would automatically end after 7 days. I was just billed and within hours of my credit card company contacting me that this charge was suspicious, I emailed muse score support - and they said no refunds!
used to be my goto for nearly 10 years. whatever they did to it has made it unusable. had to decline paying for pro half a dozen times before I could get through the introduction. meanwhile, they make you wait for an animated display to show you the offer before you can decline it. I can only look at 1 measure of piano music at a time. the browser version doesn't even load anymore. What happened??
The most annoying part of the app right now is the thousands of screens asking you to pay every time you open the app. PLEASE MUSESCORE!!! Please stop begging for money like that!!! It honestly discourages me from even considering buying in. This app has absolutely declined in quality over the years. You should not need a membership to download or print freely available music. However, they have a lot of songs and sheet music which is very helpful.
Pretty mad that I went out of my way to avoid purchasing a premium membership, but somehow ended up with one anyway, and getting charged for one. The SECOND I canceled my auto-renew, a message popped up yelling at me that I can't get a refund per the terms of the agreement I (DIDN'T KNOW) I made with them when I was just trying to buy ONE piece of music. They are obviously scamming people to get the money upfront whenever possible and too bad if you didn't want the subscription.
The subscription has been impossible for me to cancel. Last year, I did the free trial and cancelled it before it should have charged and it charged me anyway. One year later AFTER I legitimately cancelled the subscription, it charged me again without me doing anything! I find it hard to recommend the app when it has actually stolen at least seventy of my dollars.
Pro+ is kind of a ripoff. They are going the route of enshitification like the streaming services. You pay the $9.99 a month for access to pro scores, then you have to pay more to download the scores. 🙄 You can upgrade to another tier for $149.99 per year to get it all, but there is no monthly option. You might as well just use musicnotes or some other service and pay per score. Re your response: So what? I'd rather go to musicnotes and buy it from them than pay a sub fee + download fee.
My previous review was about the feed that simply doesn't get updated (nothing changed, of course). Giving it one star now, because it's crashing! When I click on the song to listen, it doesn't load, instead it shows me the error message that says "Error when downloading a file. Please try again." I'm not even downloading anything. Already tried reinstalling the app couple times, didn't help. This is not what I'm paying money for. Thinking about cancelling the subscription. Very disappointed.
Predatory subscription practice! Beware! I purchased a $1.50 piece of music and apparently there was fine print that this auto-subscribed me to a $55 recurring subscription. A week later I saw a $40! charge (for a 2nd week trial period?!) and then a notice that I was on the hook for $55 every 3 months! I immediately reached out to complain. They did cancel my membership but only refunded $26, citing that they were pro-rate charging me $14 for the 1 day of trial period. Absolutely abhorent. Evil
I subscribed to Musescore Pro thinking it would give me access to most sheet music on the platform, but that’s clearly not the case. The majority of the scores I try to open still ask for an extra $5 to unlock. What's the point of a Pro subscription if I still have to pay for most of the content? This feels deceptive and not worth the money. I’m cancelling my subscription immediately and will not be renewing. Disappointed.
I never leave reviews but I am so frustrated with this app and everything surrounding it I just had to leave one. The incessant ads for you to upgrade when you already have a subscription is enraging. You are lucky if the app works properly and you have to constantly change settings to remove the marker on sheet music. Every single time you download a PDF prepare for a popup telling you to rate the song. I'm completely done with this nonsense.
So I only needed 1 score, but to get that you are placed in an expensive subscription cycle, that apparently you cant get out of, I canceled the subscription but was still charged 69.99 twice after canceled the subscription, so I asked for a refund as was told I could only get a partial one and then wake up to find I was charged 69.99 AGAIN!!! I wouldn't recommend this company or app to anyone And I'm hoping not to be charged again, and to get anyone from the company to help is like silence.
I have a pro subscription, but not a pro+ subscription, every time you start the app there's repeated pop-ups to try selling you on pro+. It takes about 15 to 20 taps to open the app, and about 30 seconds. You have to scroll to find the buried option to reject the upgrade. Every time you open it. I'm just gonna cancel the subscription I have because this is worthless.
I have used MuseScore on PC for years, and have a lot of study pieces saved in it. I was looking for a mobile version in this app, thinking that this would be a player for my own library of saved scores. But no, I can't access my own scores in a directory on my phone without an expensive recurring subscription. I would be willing to pay a reasonable one-time price for a MuseScore app that only plays my own scores, especially if it works just like the PC program with creation, entry, and editing.
Every time I open this app, I struggle to get started. I have a pro membership, but it won't let me continue unless I upgrade to another tier. It's so frustrating. I log in to start playing piano, but I waste my time trying to circumvent the screen that says I have to sign up. I eventually give up and use the desktop version. Please fix this!
I found a piece of sheet music online I wished to buy. During the purchase process, the website pushes you to the app to complete the transaction. During the migration from webpage to app, a subscription was automatically added to the transaction. The subscription fee doesn't show up on the initial purchase, so checking out everything looks on the up and up. On the last day of the month, expect to see a surprise $40 charge for an app you never opened. Use this app at your own risk.
Pro is really misleading and app navigation is terrible. Despite purchasing pro, every time I open the app it makes me go through 10 questions about my goals and then tries to re-sell me pro. Every download, it pops up a box prompting me to pay more money to "unlock" the song. Several that I've tried to open just error out. Definitely look elsewhere for your sheet music needs.
