Complete trash. It's incredible how a company can charge so much for a device then completely botch the app. This is exactly what Sonos did. I run an IT company, I'm intimately aware of how to use Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wifi. The app shows a "unknown machine" as the description above the serial. Does this mean something is wrong or it's a device I haven't yet enrolled? Next, I tap on it and get the message "Something went wrong." Very useless description. Never connected. Returned this junk.
Reviews for MyDyson™
← Back to MyDyson™I like having all the data and control on the phone. My wife keeps the remote on her side of the bed. Connectivity is good except for when the filters need replacing, twice now if I choose to not order replacements immediately coincidentally the unit starts having problems finding wifi, hmmm. I'm not one to believe in coincidence but it is remotely possible, just saying. Overall the air quality is much better while sharing a house with 5 cats.
The constant delay between air quality history data and the current data is very annoying.. UPDATE: thanks for the reply from the devs. However, merely having real time stats on the panel does not work if I'm in another room... BTW, not being able to connect while away from home is also a big issue. It makes the whole WiFi connectivity function feel like half-baked, especially when there are a plethora of smart appliance from Nest, Xiaomi, etc. which do suppory remote connection!
The fan I wanted to use this for is great, but this app doesn't seem to be working properly. After registering through the app and (unsuccessfully) waiting for it to detect my fan was up to date, I reinstalled it to troubleshoot the problem. Now, every time I try to log in, the app says it doesn't recognize my email address and attempting to re-register results in a message explaining that Dyson's network can't be reached. It's completely unusable at this point.
The app is fine if you can get it to even connect and load properly. Every time I open it, I'm greeted by a black screen with a loading circle and then I see my fan for a second and then back to the black loading screen saying connecting. It does this on 2 separate phones as well. Takes minutes before it actually connects and let's you make changes to the fan. Useless until that is fixed. I'll stick with the remote.
This fan is awesome! It works really well, just don't lose the remote. We opted for the smart version and it is absolute garbage. The app fails to find the fan pretty consistently. I have in the 5 ghz band and don't have a lot of interference. It just kind of sucks. Not worth the extra money. Edit to dev response: I've tried unplugging it for extended periods. That's not the problem.
I've had the Dyson app for over a year and its worked great until recently. Now at least once a week (or more) it won't connect and just spins. Yes my WiFi is connected and working. It just randomly won't connect and then a day or two later it decides to work. The rest of the time it's very slow to connect, taking up to a minute or more. Extremely frustrating.
very annoying, inconsistent temperature control. in about 20-30 percent of the time, it works as intended: off when reach the set temp, on when it goes below. but most of the time, it won't turn off untill 1-2 degrees over the set point, or it won't turn on even when the temp is already 1-2 below the set point. why the inconsistency? may have to return it.
Does almost everything you want it to, with one noticable acception. You can adjust fan speed, but you can't adjust the heater temperature for the app. I understand that it's for safety reasons, but I'm more likely to sit on the remote and turn on the heater than I am to accidently unlock my phone open the app and change a setting. If you are already in the market for a Dyson, this app is a great companion.
Takes far too long to connect to my devices, to the point where it becomes easier just to adjust them directly. Whenever I open the app for the first time, it spends at least five minutes flickering because it can't immediately load my machines. I'd prefer if it just had a loading circle over the main ui or something, but it keeps jumping back and forth to a fully black loading screen and then back. Very irritating. I have wifi extenders all over my house and no other such app has this issue.
Have never been able to connect the app to my Dyson air filter, despite hours of technical support from people who keep telling me to do the same thing over and over and don't know their product. It's definitely an app issue. Now I have a new phone and I'm trying to download the app again and it's stuck at 36% downloading. Wish I got the product I paid for that I could control from my phone rather than guard a tiny remote with my life.
App is handy, but missing features. For my basic needs, It is useful for turning the unit on or off. changing the fan speed, and setting the sleep timer. What it doesn't have is the ability to change the heater thermostat setting (which is somewhat understandable due to safety regulations that it mentions in the app), but it doesn't even have the ability to see what the current temp is set to, so that is a super frustration to have to get up and fetch the remote to just see the temp setting.
I've never been so annoyed with a company or product. Had it for a wk now and idk if it's working. After following the Connect instructions all I get is a message that says there seems to be a problem .. but right under it is a promising button saying "how do I fix this?" that leads to a FAQ page with 0 help to solve this problem. I spent over an hour chatting with support. After an hour all we did was plug and unplug the machine. I emailed support but they also didnt help. Returning this
Not setting up when attempting to. This is a replacement unit that I had to wait over a month. When picking up from, I was told it was ready to use. Tried to use the following week, and it would not start. Called the dyson store, had no answer, and emailed as well for assistance no help. Called phone support they can't tell me why the unit will not register when taking a picture of the dyson barcode...
Won't control my very expensive hot and cool fan. If it is a regulation issue, state that before people buy it, or state that when the app tries to find it. Instead I've gone thru hours of trying to find/fix it, saying it doesn't recognize the serial number or the barcode, only to find the actual reasoning on another PlayStore review. It's pretty ridiculous...not the type of thing you expect from an over engineered and expensive Dyson product.
I've been trying to connect the purifier to the app for about an hour now and it still isn't working. Not to mention the battery for the remote out of the box won't work. The device is set in heating mode by default and I can't use the remote without power. The unit needs to be on to connect, so I'm forced to sit here in an increasingly hot room while I try to get an overpriced brick to work. Other than that it's great.
Good overall but has a few things that could be improved: - if you have multiple devices it doesn't have any obvious way to plot the data together. I have Dyson air filters in multiple rooms of my home and it would be great to be able to see the data from them on one chart - the app only works with an internet connection even if you're connected to the same wifi. I have other connected devices at home which work even if the internet is out
The data/graphs could be much more robust. If the unit is truly sampling at the rate at which it is advertised, having the option to see more granular (~1 min - 5 min) trends would make this app worth it. It's good for basic analytics as is, but it wouldn't be too hard to make it more robust. That's like, max 50k in development cost. C'mon man.
This used to be a great app until the latest update. I spent a couple of hours with support, trying to figure out why scheduling stopped working on our Heat and Cool and then drove 45 minutes each way to a Dyson service center. They never mentioned anything about the app changes, they simply sent out for a replacement. Now with the replacement the app tells me that UL ratings won't permit the scheduling for heat. Which makes our device nothing more than an overpriced space heater.
This app sucks. It says to connect your device to Bluetooth and a network but it doesn't have anyway to do so. Hence the app never connects to add the device. If you manually add the serial number, it adds it one time but doesn't remember it the next time you open the app. It cannot control the device either. The app is full of useless videos. It is 100% garbage. Don't bother installing it. Apparently Dyson doesn't care and does not want you to buy their products.
