I have used this app for several years with my Sierra Denali. A $67,000 truck. It seems only fair it would come with an app that provided some additional functionality (if there is an app), and it did! For a while... However, now the remote start and key fob features cost extra. This is a rather despicable restructuring of OnStar that will likely only lead to less business. It certainly did when it comes to my family and I. There will not be a third high-end GMC truck purchase for us.
Reviews for myGMC
← Back to myGMCSet up account. Added vehicle. Enter login credentials and next screen says to enter PIN but the screen is grayed out and a white bar across the middle says "In Progress" with a circle spinning in front of it. I can't get no further than that. Have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 5 times and let the "In Progess" run for over 30 minutes and can not get any further. Not impressed and rather disappointed. First time tried was at dealership doing the vehicle orientation and they couldn't get it
I've had nothing but trouble with this app. It works less than half the time. I'm off when I try to use it, and it won't connect to my vehicle. In addition, the Wi-Fi toggle is regularly turning off, which is causing me no end of headaches with my radio and OnStar with Android Auto. I have contacted OnStar multiple times and they tell me there's nothing they can do. I have taken my truck to the dealership four times. they're supposed to be contacting you or OnStar via the TAC system.
For everyone wondering why they can no longer access their remote features it's because Onstar wants more money. I just chatted with Onstar. They stated that they notified me back in 2018(Lol). The features were no longer included with my subscription package which is the Safe and Sound package. Bottom line, if you have the $30 dollar package it no longer includes remote access. The $40 package does. It sucks...
Very poor functionality. Response times are so slow that they sometimes feel non-existent. Can't see when the car's already running (that's important because the app is unable to actually start the vehicle on occasion). No notification history so if the doors actually locked you can't tell if you missed the alert. Can't shut the car off once you turn it on. Can't adjust the temperature. In fact, there's more things you can't do with this app than what you can do. No windows. No customization.
Absolutely hot garbage. I reinstalled it twice, and each time, I got a new interface, which BTW did not work. It just sat there frozen and giving me pop-ups to close or wait for the app. It worked fine a few weeks ago, and now it's useless. All I wanted to do was shop for some accessories and use my points. Apparently, GMC doesn't want my business or money.
Logging in has been a real problem recently. It has changed so that now it requires a 2 part verification. I have tried to update my email address several times and tried updating the app not to require the 2 part verification. It never works. Once you get into app, switching between vehicles doesn't always work and you have to do it at least twice. And once on the app, it sends multiple usless notifications, slowing the whole process down.
Day one of ownership and the audio system, phone system, and Onstar have all faid completely. Additionally, Super Cruise has inadvertently shut down twice, once while driving straight on an Interstate freeway and a second time, a little later on the same freeway after making an unauthorized and unneeded lane change. While going thru a corner, it started to veer into the other lane, started flashing a red alert, and shut down. I'm a little concerned and more than a little disappointed right now.
App works well enough, I like the range and the two way comunction is reassuring. Occasionally get error saying the app couldn't update vehicle information. Commands could be faster. App is a little weak compared to other brands, can't program start times, amount of starts and run duration is disappointing in the winter. Overall happy with the app but looking forward to updates that will hopefully add more functionality
When it works it's fine. More often than not, it doesn't. Since I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times I'm finding the app useless. It is NEVER updated, leading me to believe it is becoming incompatible with the Android OS updates. I spend an insane amount of money on a car and this is essentially useless 75% of the time.
up until today, the app worked perfectly fine and for whatever reason, now it won't open or anything, I'm a little upset at the fact that you require me to not only pay for OnStar to utilize any apps on the vehicle, but also to even get simple things like towing or directions OnStar charges, your customers are ridiculous amount of money just to keep basic information flowing for your customers, quite honestly, I reached out to OnStar for help, and they told me, I didn't pay for that, that's wrong
App was working fine until 2 days ago. Now it says it's sending me a code to confirm it's me, but I never receive a code. I talked to a tech on the phone for 2 hours and he couldn't fix it. Said to call back tomorrow. I've restarted my phone had it updated, removed and reinstalled the app. Even tried to change verification from email to phone and nothing. Uninstalled the app...bad. Four months later my Terrain brakes down on the road and the app is of no use. Doesn't work 😕.
I'm having issues when trying to view accessories for my vehicle. I've been trying to purchase more accessories for my vehicle for weeks now. but every time I try to add my vehicle description I get an error. It's been happening for weeks. This issue has probably cost My GM app a lot of actual sales losses. I'll give it another week or so before I uninstall completely.
They removed the remote start temperature control. Now it's a one-star review, as they closed the case saying it was fixed. Clearly, it wasn't, because the same issue is still there. So now I would have to go through opening another case and working with another representative, explaining all the details again. Do better; people pay and rely on your services.
No climate control with the recent update. I had the feature when I first purchased the vehicle, then with the update they took it away. Ridiculous for an app that you essentially have to pay for since it requires OnStar to connect. Other, much cheaper vehicles, offer free apps with all the bells and whistles. Support was nice, but essentially useless. Kept having me clear cache, history, uninstall, and reinstall. Never worked, but each rep had me do the same to no avail. Other features work.
Over time I hoped this app would get better, but I haven't seen it yet. It's slow and needs a few tries to connect ("Unable to Load"). Using remote start lately takes multiple attempts to go through (with phone on wifi). Update: and another thing, why does an app update force you to sign-in again?
8/20 Update: I can't tell if my vehicle is locked or unlocked from the app. Is there a way to tell? Original message: The application has crashed three times and frequently freezes during use, making it difficult to rely on functionality. Additionally, I've found the feature set to be quite limited for my needs. Specifically, while charging my electric vehicle, I'm unable to access important information such as the current kilowatt usage, which would help monitor my charging session.
The app is so slow to respond to any changes and the vehicle is even slower to respond. It doesn't automatically refresh stats on the car when I open the app. I have to click refresh and it spends a little while trying to get the information but most of the time it errors. I have tried changing the target charge level multiple times over the last 3 months and haven't once gotten it to work from the app. @GMC why is it so slow to do everything?
Update: I didn't think it could get worse, but it has. The latest update caused the vehicle status to stop responding. The oil change, fuel level, etc. will not update anymore. I reinstalled the app, reconnected my phone to the vehicle, reaccomplished the trusted device steps, and even activated android auto. At least that got controls working again, but not anything else. To add insult to unhurt, if I close the app, it won't open back up unless I restart my phone. PITA
Buyer beware. When you first buy your vehicle the app is easily available. You give GM permission to do all sorts of things, and when your vehicle hits a certain mileage they start charging you. The permission you gave them is still there but they are not providing you any service. They can track your oil change intervals, speed, etc... not for you, but to deny warranty.
