Also, please add the option to find a lost ring on Android phones. I also really wish that developers would take into consideration female customers who don't have periods for various reasons, but who still have ovaries & would like to learn more about their cycle without constantly being prompted to record a period. I believe it would be so helpful to include my medical history in measuring my vitals, e.g. temperature.
Reviews for Oura
← Back to OuraGreat overall. It would be great if the heart rate menu with the whole day graph was easier to access on the top portion of the application. Sometimes it is minimized in a drop down menu and all the way at the bottom. During exercise this is a bit annoying to reach sometimes. The widget at the very top does update and brings you to that graph menu when tapped but does not always work the way I feel it could to serve us better.
What started out as a nice and accurate device (far more accurate than anything I had before) has devolved into an inaccurate piece of rechargeable jewelry. It's been a little inaccurate after some updates but I noticed a big difference the past few days. I decided to wear some other tracking devices to compare and noticed this Oura has been underperforming...wildly. I wear the other devices only during my morning workouts and still those devices show better stats this week.
A greedy corporation charging you handsomely for the device and THEN asking you to subscribe by paying a monthly fee to use the app. If you don't pay you get no functionality. Even the basic stuff gets broken and the ring stops syncing your naps. I might be wrong but this does not seem legal in the EU, i.e. blocking the features of the device you purchased unless you pay extra...
I have loved my oura ring overall, but this last update messed up. my ring has a hard time syncing now, it used to do it so easily. I know it's not a connection issue because it will tell me the battery status, but not my data. also, the hearttate and stress readings are way too sensitive now. it's telling me my stress is super high on a normal day. something needs to be fixed there, I can see my hearttate on my Garmin watch all day and it's not that high.
I love that they are always working and improving the data and features. One pain point for me is the stress tracking is very inaccurate compared to my Garmin. I'd also like to see continuous stress tracking and the ability to prioritize it in the algorithm (stress focus). My hope is continuous will better capture my stress, but even still, I am not stressed (physically or mentally) nearly as much as Oura thinks I am.
Inaccurate to the point of not being usable. I have to manually adjust my sleep every day; it thinks I'm sleeping any time I sit on the couch. Only counts about half my steps, but will show high calorie burn for the same periods. I don't trust any of the other measurements because of these. Constantly have go confirm activities I've aleady confirmed. Looking elsewhere for a better device.
I've been an Oura user since Gen 1. I have always loved it and have gotten friends to buy it too. That said the update to the activity logging is cumbersome and inconsistent. Give us the option to manually enter calories from exercise equipment instead of fussing with the predetermined (and often inconsistent) calorie counts. Just let us type it in!!
I have had ring/app about two weeks now. it is great for sleep, activity, HRV tracking. However I wish it could pull in my meal tracking into my timeline. 4 month update: still tracking well. the ring gets annoying on my fore finger especially when wet. I am constantly taking it off & putting it back on or switching fingers. And although they added glucose monitoring into the app which is helpful. The meal tracking is subpar at best. It needs to be updated to be able to track Macros accurately.
Would prefer a tiered membership based on different levels of need. Membership app information is overwhelmingly convoluted. Canceled membership - now at least half the time, only a black screen noting "membership inactive" is all it shows; not even the three numbers appear, maybe one randomly; not that it matters, they're not accurate either, part of the time. Also, sometimes the app won't sync to the ring, states to try putting it on the charger - who would carry that thing everywhere..
Decent, but not without frustrations I’ve been using the Oura Ring Gen 3 for a while now, and while it offers some genuinely useful insights, it consistently falls short of its full potential. I rarely get all the data it’s supposed to provide. The frequent firmware and app updates feel excessive and sometimes interrupt usability. The ring itself is sleek and comfortable, and when it does work properly, the data data feels helpful. Overall, it's just "ok"
The sleep and heart rate information are pretty good and are the most valuable things to for me. It's not great at counting steps as it sometimes shows I've taken thousands of steps even if I'm resting due to an illness. Once it showed by bedtime as 90 minutes later than when I actually went to bed. However, by far the most frustrating thing is the battery life. I've had the ring for only a few months and every week the battery loses it's charge at a faster rate.
I really wish I could integrate this with my Orange Theory Fitness app data to get a more complete picture of my fitness. I wish the meal tracker was more robust and allowed for more detailed entries with the ability to scan barcodes and enter recipes. Update: Removing a star because the battery life has been rapidly declining, and the ring doesn't even last a long weekend. Also, the heart rate monitor is inaccurate, if it works at all. Half the time I try to record my workout, there's no data.
it's very good at tracking sleep patterns and vitals. I do BJJ and one thing I notice if I don't setup for a workout ahead of time by engaging the heart rate monitor and set it for my specified workout time it will use the built in algorithms detect activity and it's only about 70% as accurate as when I manually set to monitor. I wish it delved into more details on chronotyping and cardiovascular age vs actual age. The subscription fee is too high for value to service.
I have been looking at this Oura ring for a while. Did comparison with others. Debated on the subscription, I was able to purchase on PayFlex. I got the subscription I am currently doing month to month and will change for a year instead. The app is incredible, hands down. The only one thing is the selection of workouts that you can't add. Other than that, it is a great buy.
great app, could be a bit better. I think that the app is amazing and has a ton of benefits for the user. for future products, I would love to see is: - setting alarms in the app, and a piezoelectric buzzer vibrates the ring - LED to let you know when there's been updates from text/email - body temperature updates in the app small things that can make a difference in usability. thank you for all you do.
I bought the original ring, upgraded it, and bought one for my gf. When it worked, it provided useful information on my sleep. Unfortunately, either the app or all three rings were unreliable enough that we've given up wearing them at this point. Constantly being told that it can't sync, even when both the phone and ring are fully charged, charging and sitting together. Updates often encourage you to factory reset. Wish it still worked, but it was never reliable.
Revisiting my previous post: Whatever they did, they did a phenomenal job fixing the app. (Another revisit) Is there something going on with the "stress mode" section? My ring shows stress even when I'm relaxing or just getting up for a drink of water. The app works very well; however, the connection is always lagging. My Fitbit gives me readings much faster. The app is terrible.
Overall a great app. Syncing is reliable, the insights and graphs are helpful, and it i really easy to navigate. I do wish it were possible to link two rings (or more) with a toggle for which is active, so I could get multiple styles/colors. However, the app is solid. Down a couple stars ATM, because the new interface makes it difficult to view data for previous days and enabling location services now chews up battery life in the background.
ring was great for 2 weeks after purchase. it is still great when it wants to work now. everyday it loses sync and I have uninstall/Reinstall the app and do a reset for it to cooperate until the next day. for the money I spent on it these should not be consistent issues. I looked at returning it, but due to the fact that I chose to pick it up from a Best Buy instead of waiting for it to be delivered to my house it is non refundable. Makes no sense but whatever. lesson learned I guess
