You are supposed to be able to take photos of your tests and find you LH ratio. However, the app always just says "0" as the reading even when there are clearly two lines. I have to get into a very specific light, a blue background, dim lighting then it will read. The same strip read 0, 0.4, 0.75 each depending on the light. I would say the app is pretty worthless if you are using it to track your test results. Used to work just fine. It's been in the last 2 months it no longer works.
Reviews for Ovulation Tracker App - Premom
← Back to Ovulation Tracker App - PremomI think this app has potential and I like the concept. However, the option to manually take a picture of your strip will more often than not result in blurred pictures that then leads to the app reading the result as consistently "low" despite the test line progressively becoming darker and darker with each day. It was also a big turn off to be forced to give an ovulation app access to my location, identitifiers, and data tracking in order to use it. It seems like an overstep and invasive.
It's a useful app. However, the constant and aggressive pressure to upgrade membership to their paid level ("find out more" in the app is code for "pay a bunch of money to get access to additional crumbs of information"), and the ever-changing nature of what you have access to with the various membership (or unpaid) levels, is really annoying. Also, the privacy policy is unnerving, and there seems to be no way to get access to your own data. Wish I had been logging with a different app.
I have LOVED prenom! Its been so easy to use and really helpful. So detailed. But it updated recently and it hasn't been able to calculate accurate t/c ratios. I used it for like 3 months before and it was perfect. Now it's giving me a whole lot of zeros when in reality it's like .5. I also started getting weird scammy notifications from the app like "we've sent $900 to your chase account "
This is the glitchiest app I've ever downloaded. It likes to crash frequently, or not even load in the first place (which is not good when you are working with time-sensitive tests) and drains my phone battery even when closed. The built-in scanner hasn't worked once, so I have to manually upload the results each time. The cycle analysis feature requires a PREMIUM PLAN, so as if the over-priced test strips aren't bad enough, now you have to pay the company even more to use its full functions. 👎
Good to keep track of events but it is awful at manually reading the tests. **EDIT** I miss wrote manually. What I meant was it is awful at automatically reading the tests. It always tells me my levels are at 0 when they are very distinctly not. I was hoping it would take the guess work out of me entering in the values. It does not. Also it would be nice if there was a way to show all comments or all days that a specific event happened similar to the Lh graphs.
Still doesnt work - in response to my previous review, where you must not have read my issue as you told me to "reboot my phone." i had to do that twice just to get it unfrozen after this app messed up the phone when trying to set it up. and yes, my phone is up to date. It is a Note 9. I will just stick to Fertility Friend and Ovia. no issues with those.
July '22: Getting frustrated with how different the readings are for the same strip under the same lighting! It's not reliable anymore. The point of the app is to take away the guesswork, but I'm back to visually estimating TC ratio... I got this app because I absolutely love the Premom OPKs and the app scans them & interprets results for you. Awesome. I love having so much data about my fertility. And it's free. Amazing. Lots of paid options for cycle reports & ask-an-expert features.
Update: I received great customer service for the issues I had. One issue (missing icons in chart) is gone, and the lower temp issue is a matter of them supporting lower (skin) temperature logging sometime in the future. It's a pretty good app, it interprets the data you enter, including temperature, and pinpoints your ovulation real-time based on that and even corrects itself if it was wrong before. A couple of things I don't like is it doesn't support lower temperatures entered (Ava bracelet skin temperature), they sometimes don't appear correctly in the chart, displaying a slightly higher temp as a drop and slightly lower as an increase. Luckily it only happens with lower temps. Also, OPK readings are ok but when editing, line colors don't match test colors.
This app was great until, as others mentioned, it would not open without allowing it to download other apps to your phone. No thanks! Sounds fishy to me. And now I have almost a year's worth of tracking data lost. Grrr. I hope they fix it. But for now, I'm sucking it up and buying a paid fertility taking app instead.
I love being able to take a photo of my strip to help me determine where I am in my cycle. It is especially nice that the app will give me feed back on what I am seeing. The only con for me is that photo reader can be finicky. You need good lighting and to get most of the strip in the photo or the reader will error even if it is an obvious line.
UPDATE: now the ovulation tracker needs to collect other data from my phone and needs permission to access my GPS location!?!? This is ridiculous. You don't need any of that to let me tell you when I had my period. I like the app, but the new update has caused it to freeze and crash every time I try to save something. It's not worth my time anymore to fight with it. I'll try it again with a new update, but until then, AVOID!
It tracks pregnancy tests along with a basic daily log and periods. It can read any brand of LH strips. It will chart them for you and offers a calendar view. Really nice for people with regular periods. Once the prediction time frame ends (about a year)- the app will start logging your period as if you have a 30 day cycle. You have to go back and change it day by day, or unmark whatever it logged so it doesn't count it as an additional period. It does the same thing with your fertility days.
I loved this app, been using it for months. Now it is almost useless. It can't take the photos automatically anymore. When trying manually it blurs or won't register it saying a value of zero. Still get the zero value reading when trying to upload a photo. It is also very creepy feeling that in order to use that we had to accept them have GPS access and more. Y'all don't need that. I buy the LH testing strips for the seemless integration with the app...please make the next update soon.
Both times while using the ovulation strips and app I have been able to conceive the first try and for that I am extremely grateful. Without the app, it's literally anyone's guess when ovulation happens for me and when the best time to try is. I like that the app is still free and you get to see a fair share of what you need for trying and pregnancy. I appreciate this app and what it stands for. Women need more help with fertility challenges and this is a great start.
really frustrated with the uploading of ovulation tests. 1st time both lines were light so i was confused but it scanned. the 2nd time i used the auto feature. soooo many problems there. so i did it manually and it said my c line (control) is not found. i took a pic with my phone camera & uploaded since that worked the day before. same issue. cropped photo to remove glare. same issue. its clear the left line is darker and i lined it up perfectly every time. support tab to report doesn't work.
I used it for a long time and it was just a lot of work with the strips and then I would get multiple readings depending on how many pics I took of the strip. I have a very good phone Galaxy S24 so I can't say it's my phone and I make sure the lighting is good and take it in the same place every time. I just find my watch gives a more accurate prediction because it is actually laying on my skin and can predict my temperature better and it's cheaper than buying strips & subscription.
Love this app! I've been comparing this with Natural Cycles. This app has been correct the majority of the time, while Natural Cycles is still getting everything wrong. Love how it shows everything in charts and gives visuals to compare our data. It actually reads the data instead of giving positive or negative results like Natural Cycles. And it takes everything into account instead of just relying heavily on one source. Will always recommend this app!
I absolutely love the app, Ive used it for years now and actually used it to track my cycle before I got pregnant with both my pregnancies. I also used to during my pregnancies. The only thing I was they'd add would be a postpartum mode because there is so many symptoms and bleeding that goes on that Id love to track it properly. It'd be great to see a mode added to track the bleeding because otherwise it messes up the period settings.
The app is great for its purpose, but I can't give more than 3 stars because they won't introduce a dark mode. Tracking BBT means taking your temp first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. They make it easy by being able to pair a thermometer with your phone, but in order to work you have to open the app which is all white. It is incredibly jarring first thing. I know many people asked for this years ago when I got pregnant with my first and they still haven't done it.
