I own the bike and I love it; the app falls short. The app looks nice but gives you no access to any of your ride data. It doesn't connect or track any data from heartrate monitors. If you take a class with video be aware that a 45 min class will be around 2.2GB of data. It seems the app does not detect the connection type to choose lower quality stream. I've had a few instances of freezing or cutting out. This has resulted in strange artifacts like taking two classes at the same time.
Reviews for Peloton - Fitness & Workouts
← Back to Peloton - Fitness & WorkoutsNice App. Good workouts and a good variety. It takes a while to find your favorite instructor, but when you do, it makes the workout fun. The music is overpowered by the instructor's mike, so a lot of times you can't even hear the songs on runs and rides. The music sounds like it's just coming over their computer speakers and caught on the mike rather than a real soundsystem. I would also like the workouts to be filtered by equipment needed, you only find out after you click on the class.
I just bought a Pelton heart rate monitor. The app crashes every time in the setup process while connecting to my monitor. I can connect via Bluetooth on my phone fine, but not in the app, and without connecting in the app, the app won't recognize my device, so I can't use the device at all. *Update - After troubleshooting with Peloton, they said I need a replacement because it is defective. I called and they will only replace items bought from their own store. They don't stand by their products
Overall love the courses and instructors. Functionality of the app could definitely be better. A quick 15 second rewind button, a better way to rewind back to the start of the last exercise. The other day I got close to finishing a workout, wanted to redo the last set and found that the banner along the bottom for finishing now blocked my ability to rewind. Would love to go into my workouts and click on them and be taken back to their page to restart them (why can't I do that?), Or share.
I like the instructors and app, but it's kind of expensive compared to similar options. I had a trial and wanted to have some time to think about renewing it but wasn't given that option or the option to cancel. In Google Play subscriptions Peleton wasn't listed. And in the app, it listed trial, and no option to cancel. So I thought I would be asked if I wanted to continue to paid membership. I had to login to peleton in a separate browser to cancel.
Um, notifications? The main draw of an app (in my opinion) is how useful the notifications are. This app has none! I didn't know this until after I missed a class I signed up for. What's the point?? Users should get a notification 5 minutes before the start time to remind them and so they can get to their equipment. That would really make this app the best. Notifications, reminders, general motivation (a class you may like is starting in 30 minutes).
Weeeellllll, I'm re-upping my disappointment so far with the app. Dont get me wrong, I am obsessed with my peloton bike, especially during this time of isolation. But the app is just disappointing. Still can't see anything involving my workouts other than the basics. Can't interact in any way with friends. No interaction for motivation whatsoever. Everything from my original posting stands.Just disappointing. Especially since peloton is crushing it right now in profits.
No need for the bicycle Great ap with awesome coaches that are motivating and charismatic. There's even a 5 minute ab workout if you're short on time. I have gotten a lot from more from the coaches of this app than training alone. My first class I was sore, and I realize now it's, because I have been overlooking muscle groups. Great ap for anyone that is capable of motivating themselves to exercise alone. 💪
The content is really great, but the app itself has been frustrating. The biggest issue is it will crash mid run for no reason. There is also no way to jump to where you left off in the workout so you're forced to start over or go without. It also significantly under records distance when running. Update: the distance calculation is much better and the crashes are much less frequent, but they are still happening.
The app is really not user friendly. I want to search for a certain program, there is no search option? Also, the classes you sign up for, there's no where to look at what you signed up for in one place so you have to just remember and hope you dont miss it? I'm confused. I also use Openfit and that app is a million times better in terms of easily finding exactly what you want. Edit: I have an iphone for my work phone and downloaded the app on there and it's so much better, how frustrating
I love the cycling classes, but the Android app is such a huge disappointment. I wasn't able to purchase the Peloton bike, so I purchased another bike to use with the app and was led to believe that my bike could still connect to the app to view my cadence, etc. What I didn't know was that this was only true of the iOS version. If you're going to continue to offer less for the Android version, then Android users should also pay less money for the subscription.
App is terrible, compared to the iPhone app. You can do a lot more in the iOS app. On this app hardly get any details, name of workout, kj, and date/time. Seriously? I can't even see distance or calories burned? No heart rate? What's the point? Thankfully I am not the primary user or payer of the bike or I'd be even more unhappy. I am just stunned by the differences in the two app versions. For the price point of the bike and membership, I expect better. Hopefully these features are in the works
Greedy. $12.99 used to get you unlimited cardio classes, now you're limited to 3/month, and you have to pay $24 for unlimited. That's ridiculous. Nobody is going to pay that much more if they're just using it for some treadmill videos. Overall very poor value for the basic membership, no longer worth it. My girlfriend used this app for a while but is now canceling and seeking an alternative.
The iphone app is 100% better than the android app. Android does not offer the ability to see and high five other users taking the class at the same time, does not give messages for upcoming milestones or achieved milestones, and it took forever for them to even offer the ability to preload classes. Step up your android game, peloton. You're about to double the price and I expect the same features on every platform for that price
Android App offers almost nothing for users who are looking to take their exercise outside. There are no metrics offered and no GPS tracking. This app is essentially only good for confirming that you did an exercise at one point (as long as you don't want to see any of the stats). Pretty upsetting that Android users pay the same price but get zero of the features iPhone users get.
It would be very cool to see where we are to how far we need to go during the challenges. It may also motivate people to see where they place amount all other participants. For the android, seeing who follows and who you follow is not easy to find. I have a friend that I follow and like to see what they are doing compared to myself. Also their is no class preview for the android. I have only been using the app for a week and have been a huge help in my recovery from leukemia.
The quality of this app has plummeted. I used this during covid lockdown and would've gave it 4.5 stars then. The only reason I gave it 1 star now is because I couldn't give it a zero. You have to download workouts prior so there's no disruption while working out. This takes up a lot of space on your device not to mention the time organizing vs just working out. There used to be a timer count down for warm-warm, workout, cool down and now on occasion there's just the timer. Fix it, peleton!
7/28/2023... Ever since the pricing tiers changed, I can no longer use the "view details" in the workouts to see what exercises are in the workout. Also, I have to close the app between each workout or it won't let me do another workout - it just keeps going back to the home page. I have the full subscription, so there's no reason for this as far as what version of the app I have. It's just been so glitchy ever since you introduced pricing tiers.
The platform is great. The app is alright. I don't like that if I'm tracking something like a walk, I can't use any of the other app functions. It's also a little glitchy when doing other workouts. If I have a stack lined up, it won't always load the next workout after I complete the first. Or sometimes, shorter classes (warm-ups, stretches that are 5 minutes) don't appear in my history and I'll have to repeat them if I want the credit.
Just awful with the random pausing. While running outdoors kills the momentum, even when stretching and the phone is away from me. Paused 25 times in a 10 minute workout. This didn't used to happen. Also for outdoor runs, it ALWAYS stopped tracking GPS and metrics after 20ish minutes (on a 25 or 30 minute run). Very annoying. For $44/month I expect a lot more.
