The app is fine and easy to use for check ins. I would like to see more versatility in the journey tracking however. Machine workouts account for half of the available usage, but there's nowhere within the app that lists these machines for tracking. Adding these in would be great in the future. As for member perks, they're also just alright. I wouldn't complain if they had a bit more of a selection relative to fitness in general. +2 more stars if the app sees some of this updated though.

← Back to Planet FitnessUpdate fixed the slow loading, but I hate the new workout tracking. The old graph for workout time & seeing day/week/month total was very motivating. No way to view progress anymore. Workout aren't calculated by total in a day anymore. If I workout with stretching, strength training & cardio, app adds as three short workouts, & workout average reflects that. Can't overstate the difference. Other features seem fine; I don't use them. This is for the most recent update, so confused by response.
Im pretty frustrated because I can't book a training session. It continues to give me an "Ooops, we are uanble to book a session..." Message. Ive submitted 3 requests for support and Im told its fixed by some auto response email. The last time I did actually get some specific instructions to clear my cookies and try it and then uninstall and reinstall the app. Still not working. Im stumped.
Can't get past the first login screen. "An error occurred looking up your email." Hadn't used it in a while. Updated to latest version. Cleared cache and data. Uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm not going to install an old version. This is ridiculous. P.S. "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again" That's what happens when I try to report it to the app technical support. Those are the only two things I can try doing in this app, and neither work.
Just signed up today and I'll be starting my gym experience tomorrow. The app has a lot of great information for how certain exercises are done, but for some reason, the app force closes when switching exercises during your workout video tutorials. It'll count down to zero for the first one, but then I see my home screen... Please fix. Would rate 5 stars if fixed.
Going with a 2 because it seems that the developers have no idea what users might want in a fitness app. We can check in and schedule classes, that's nice. But what's with the activity tracker that doesn't even include all of the machines at your gym? I'd like to be able to track my entire workout; both cardio and strength, in the same app, and it would be nice if the one that tracks my gym usage also included that option.
i have been enjoying my planet fitness membership and the app does have a great way to track activities and log into the gym. my 1 complaint with the app is that when it comes to logging activities it doesn't have the majority of the equipment in the gym avaliable to log activities on. i end up having to put the majority of my workout under "weightlifting" which isnt accurate meanwhile they have other things listed multiple times. id just like to be able to be more accurate with workout logs.
This is not a good app. The prior app was better. I could enter time worked out, distance, etc. Now a I can do is choose an activity (such as walking) with a time and speed that is available only in .5 mph increments. If I'm walking at 3.2...is that 3 or 3.5? ANSWER: NEITHER. Really, if inaccuracy isn't bad enough, I can no longer see my workout history to track my progress. Truly, the app no longer meets my needs.
For me the main draw of this app are all the guided workouts that you can do while in the gym. Unfortunately, the app lacks a lot of functionality that would make it much more useful, like a search function. I'd also like to be able to follow a progressive series. If I've completed one in the series, the next one should come up automatically. Also I want to see if I've done a video already, or be able to save/track workouts to rewatch again. Very cheap development.
This app has a few problems. For one, the crowd meter on the dashboard isn't always the same as when you click into club details. I never really know which one is accurate. Also, the crowd meter doesn't do a great job of indicating how full the gym actually is. When it shows only 2 bars (which looks like it would mean the gym is relatively empty), the free weights are already pretty saturated. They need to calibrate it badly.
I tried to join the planet fitness gym near me and they insisted I use the ap. However, I have now tried at least a dozen times over the last 48 hours and cannot get past the log in page. I keep getting errors, being asked to verify my account, being blocked from my account then unblocking it - rinse and repeat. I really wanted to join PF because it is closest to my home and the most affordable near me, but because of this unfortunate sign in process I will be looking elsewhere.
Great for checking in and seeing the estimated traffic at the gym. Working through some of the programs is like a bad scavenger hunt, especially when the workout wants you to use equipment not at the gym. The at-home, no-equipment videos are pretty awesome. I wish there was a way to customize the workouts to take out certain exercises or to keep track of weight progress.
please fix the "crowd meter". I use the app to primarily check in to the gym and to see how busy it is, but the crowd meter has 10 bars, but the meter never goes above 3 bars! It's useless. It is typically always 1-2 bars, which could mean there are 5 people at the gym or 50. I've only ever seen it go to 3 bars when nearly every machine was being used, which should have been a 9 or 10 out of 10, not a 3! The videos/tutorials and most other features work, so, 2 stars.
I have to keep reinstalling it on my (rather new Android) phone to get it to open. Plus, no way to search for a keyword like "standing" in app workouts. Finally, a workout that was there yesterday isn't listed today. Found it in my history but can't re-access it there. Oh, and it's kind of strange I am limited to my phone screen as opposed to being able to view workouts on my computer via my paid account.
Severe problems with payments. PF cannot handle payment by bank as the primary payment source. Every single month it manages to screw up the name on my bank account so name does not go through and I have to reset the bank account. I have credit card as backup, but the app won't go to the CC automatically, and I have to enter the entire number each month which is a real pain. It won't do GPay either. I got charged a late fee which is unfair.
I couldn't make it to the gym in person today. so I took advantage of the PF App exercises and it was great. I don't feel like I missed out. I love this alternative. When it don't seem like there's enough hours in the day to go in to the gym the variety of exercises on the app still allows a good focused workout in just the right amount of time. 💪🏽🤗
the clubs are fine. The workouts in the app are fine. Don't try to update anything, though, like ever. I've updated my address several times online and in the clubs, but the app still reflects only the very first one I had. I'm not a fan of PF in general because of this, and the automatic billing being spotty with no notification(including in the app) honestly, but they're the only gym with decent hours in my area. If any other gym picks up their slack, I'll be out like a light.
I would rate 0 if I could. Please for the love of God fix the billing portion of the app. I put in all the correct information, the app accepts, and then scams me every month by saying there's an error the day the monthly fee is due. Either stop charging the original fee and tell me that I owe close to $50 per month, or fix the app so that I can pay whenever I choose instead of waiting on a faulty auto pay method that messes with my credit score.
I'm new to PF and enjoy my black card benefits, although I'm still figuring them out on the app. The crowd meter is a cool concept but doesn't seem very accurate. 2 bars is the norm at my home gym location, but that can mean busy (60+) or 20 people. Maybe there could be a numerical system instead that's live and updated every 5 minutes based on scans. After all, it is all digital.
Update: 10/5/25 Having same issues as others. Planet Fitness billing will not process my subscription, then bill me an additional $20 for late payment. First time it happened I paid the late fee. It happened for the second time, and I decided to block PF charges and uninstalled the app. As far as i'm concerned its a money grab tactic that backfired. They would have made far more money from me as a member. Good luck collecting any future payments from me.
