Get ready to pay $7.55, not $6.99/week. I don't know on what planet they're allowed to charge tax, but they do. I deleted the app 5 minutes after installing it, thinking that would cancel the subscription, but it didn't cancel. I got charged $7.55 two times before realizing I'm paying for an app I uninstalled the same day I installed it. The app doesn't even work that well. Terrible app. Save your money and aggravation, and Google instead. If I could give it minus stars I would.
Reviews for Plant App - Plant Identifier
← Back to Plant App - Plant IdentifierIt does identify your plants and puts in a library. I like that. I am disappointed with alerts for care. They always say upcoming. But not when the next care is actually due. I thought that was what I was getting. Plant diagnosis always says the same thing. There are no tips on adding helpful ideas to put in your plant to help it. (Like adding Epson salts and such) There are no instructions on how to use the app so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I paid for a year and I'm sorry I did.
I loved the app, but it is designed in a deceptive way to prevent cancellation before the trial period is over. The FAQ section also references only Apple/iTunes and has no Android info. I fully intended to pay the fee, but due to this unethical practice, will gladly go with a different and more expensive option that does not engage in deceptive design. I already had to pay for a month, but will issue a dispute and potential charge back with my bank.
This app is insanely expensive, has horrendous grammar and spelling, poor diagnostics of plant ailment, and redundant/conflicting advice. I'm sure I could list more issues if I had chosen to waste more than 10 minutes of my life on this app. I'm canceling my trial moments after starting it. I wouldn't use this app even if it was free. Google Lens is free, more accurate, and provides more information.
Should be 0 stars! It didn't identify plant correctly until multiple attempts. The diagnosis was not specific to my plant. It was generic: It might be under watering or It might be over watering. Maybe it needs more nutrition, or is over nourished. I tried to unsubscribe, it took me to iTunes music store. I have an Android device. Now I need to figure out how to unsubscribe before they start charging me.
It's making me rate the app before I can access it. There's nothing in the Play Store indicating costs. you must accept the vague fine-print terms of service before you can see anything. so far, my vote is no confidence. Update: Immediately after submitting the above review, THEN it gives the rate page and the fee trial auto-renews to $6.99 per week after 3 days. There is nothing about this that indicates legitimacy. Uninstalled immediately.
Good luck canceling if you try the app. The only link is for iTunes users even though I downloaded from Google store. There is a link to an email address in the terms of service way down at the bottom, but it doesn't work. Scam! And as mentioned by others it gives super generic info, basically it might be "too much water or too little water". Duh!
It's not a free app, but at least they give you a three-day free trial, which was more than enough time for me to figure out that it's really not worth paying for. I can use Google lens for free to identify plants and possible diseases. I could also tell that the instructions were originally written in another language and translated to English because the instructions and info was choppy, clumsily written, didn't make any sense at times, and just looked like 'word salads'. Good luck y'all.
There is nothing free about this app. You get a couple of scans free and then you have to pay either each week ($6.99) or lifetime ($199 - wait! You can get it for 75% off! Woohoo.) How do I know if I want a Lifetime subscription after 3 scans? (Some of which were incorrect.) It comes up almost instantly to upgrade but I thought the basic info was free and additional info was premium. Nope. Time to uninstall and look around some more.
Accuracy low. Diagnosis broad. No zoom or crop images. Details in writing are poorly written, incomplete, wrong use of words, not logical. No benefit from use. Accepted free 3-day trial, canceled in 15 minutes and uninstalled. I wish I hadn't gotten into this app. The 4.6 star rating make me think it was going to be a good app, but I was fooled by that. It's not Google verified, they keep your photos, and sell your data to third parties. I should've read that before I accepted the trial.
Nice looking interface. Right out of the gate I was turned off due to the cost. I can pay weekly, or I can pay a huge one-time payment, and I have 3 days to decide. I tried identifying one plant and it can't get it right. I tried 3 times. It got the correct family but not the species. So, I'm going to pass. Disappointing as it would be nice to have help identifying issues my plants are having.
I tried to identify a plant and got 2 different answers. When I tried to Uninstall before being charged, I was unable to cancel without downloading ANOTHER apple app. So instead I contacted apple customer service and they were unable to help, they said I need to contact the developers... well, they aren't exactly easy to contact. This is not how I wanted to spend the past 30 minutes, and its still not cancelled. It should be just as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up.
Don't fall for it. I tried out premium, and followed the steps to diagnose my plant issues. It just listed a menu of possible issues: it could be the result of: underwater, over water, too much sunlight, minerals, not enough...what was shown in the YT ad doesn't exist. Blatant false advertising. I unsubscribed from premium 15 minutes later when it failed to deliver its basic promise. If it advertised as an identifier, it deserves 5 ⭐, but little else.
Canceled free trial minutes after I started it. I tried it on a few of my house plants and it isn't completely accurate and there are a lot of grammar issues that make it hard to understand at times. Diagnosing plants just gives you different suggestions so you have to guess if it's over or under watering, etc. If you do try it (remember it's not free after the trial) just go to Google subscriptions and cancel it there as there is no menu in the actual app for your profile. Wish it was better.
I LOVED this app until . . . One day, I tried to take a photo and kept getting a message saying that the images were too small and couldn't identify. The app had saved all of my plants, watering schedules, care, and all of the information that I needed! When I couldn't get it to work, I uninstalled and re-installed it again. Now it's completely different. You have to pay to use it! The layout changed, & my old data is gone. Like I said, completely different. Too bad. I really liked it b4!!!
TOTAL SCAM!! They offer you a 3 day trial for $.99 but then charge you the amount for a week just minutes after. They keep trying to charge me every hour on the hour to the point I had to block the company on all of my accounts. Not only that but they say you can cancel your subscription in settings but they only thing that could possibly be related to it is more or less just authorizing them to take another payment. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY JUST USE GOOGLE LENSE!!!
This application is perfect for identifying the names of your plants and flowers. My only issue with this app is that after I paid for this PlantID subscription, I used it a few times then it stopped identifying, removed my garden saves, and asked me to buy another subscription. So, yes it's good for identifying plants, but this company does not seem to live up to its agreements. Fool me once never again. Hopefully, I will save others from making this mistake. 🫤
The app doesn't work and keeps closing. I signed up with a subscription, which is not cheap, but immediately encountered this big issue with the app closing after you try the diagnosis feature of the app. it freezes and closes on its own, rendering it useless and frustrating. I canceled the subscription. don't waste time on inadequate products that don't do what they are supposed to do.
I didn't look closely enough at this app before purchasing it. I wanted the plant ID app that identifies wild plants, not house and garden plants. I also would never have purchased it if I realized it was going to cost $6.99/week! The mistake is mine, but I can't, for the life of me, find a way to cancel this subscription. It may be a good app, but since it isn't what I wanted (a wild plant app), I never use it and I'm spending far too much money on it!
I purchased the lifetime subscription and have been deleted. I saved all my info for logging in and ID. I tried restoring purchase, no subscription found. I tried forgot password, email not found. I can go on Google Play and find the purchase. There's no place to contact anyone for help. In the app it tells you to leave a review and they will resolve the issue. Problem is the app won't take you to the review. They want your money. Then you are left with an app that only works half the time.
