Lots of fighting with downloads. I started using this app for the available content, but end up having to fight to get episodes downloaded. I'll start a few and invariably one or more will get "stuck," refusing to download or let any other episodes download. When I try to delete to episode blocking others, it won't delete and I have to force stop the app, reopen, and try again. It takes several try and feels like a huge waste of time.
Reviews for Podcast Player App - Podbean
← Back to Podcast Player App - PodbeanI'd give it 5 stars but, when I join a cast it's like i'm broadcasting from a deep well, and no can really hear me. I have used headphones, and just the Phone's Speaker and no luck, I've been told it's because I am using an Android. But who knows. But I love dropping in on Live Shows , and a lot of my friends use the app. And they have found new friends on this app from all over the world! It's really remarkable. It's more than just a podcasting app...
When the podcast player I was using became abandonware, I looked at a bunch of players. This one was the best I found. The company seems very responsive, which is a big plus. My one concern is the app also allows you to publish your own podcasts; that seems to be the main focus of the company. Does that mean the player functions will get less attention? So far, at least, though, no complaints. (Their Facebook group is exclusively for podcasters, not listeners, alas.)
I find this app quite frustrating. If it's front end was designed a bit more competently, it could be a great app. There's apparently no way to make a queue, other than making a "Playlist of your favorite episodes", which is just weird, it's PC integration is horrible, and intended for uploading original podcasts, not listening to existing ones. There's no way to limit the number of episodes in your pre-built "new" Playlist of all followed podcasts, causing hourly news pods to stack up. Almost.
This is the only podcast app I've ever had, that constantly stops in the middle of an episode. It just stops, no error message, no prompts. I'll have to reopen the app as many times as 10 times in an hour. This isn't related to my internet connection, or wi-fi, it's just this app. I've been dealing with this for months, and the recent update did nothing to help. The error isn't related to a specific show, or episode. It's any show I play through Podbean.
I've tried multiple podcast apps over the past 5-6 years and this one has quickly become my favorite. Loving the app so far as it has most of what I'm looking for. So much so, that I already subscribed! Just would love the ability to limit downloads to the latest 2-3 episodes, and better filtering options for searching as categories are very broad. Also, as a multilingual person, it would help to be able to search by podcast language.
It's meh. Biggest problem, I've got to pay $10/year so I don't have to click three screens in order to see what's new. (In other words, the "discover" tab is the landing page by default. In order to change it to the podcasts I follow, there's an upcharge.) Apparently, the business strategy is to make an app that only works sort of well, and then ask us for money to make it work like it should.
I have used this app for over 5 years and I love it. I've tried different podcatchers , etc., over time and always find myself coming back to podbean. My only real issue is with the search feature when looking for podcasts. To find a certain podcast, you often have to be very very specific in searching the title. And when searching broader terms, a lot of good podcasts are missed in the results. But everything else is spot on wonderful and I doubt I'll ever switch up
The playback stops over and over and over with an error message that says something about "network problems or the server being busy." But I can press 'play' and it immediately starts up again. But there's no way to enjoy listening if that happens every couple of minutes. Please fix this bug with an update. I'm running an up to date version on Android.
Very poor UX. Poorly designed search functionality and recommendation system. Audio pauses frequently for no obvious reason. Bizarrely doesn't offer an option to listen to episodes in episodic order...you would have to go in and manually drag and drop each episode to get the correct play order. All that and they have the audacity to have frequent pop-ups asking for reviews. Maybe not the best strategy when your product is buggy and badly interfaced.
as a stitcher replacement it's fine, it does the job, it's fairly easy to use, I have an android at the moment and I do not support Spotify's business practices so I will continue to use it. it's very bare bones, the interface isn't pretty to look at, but it's easy to use. I haven't noticed it recently but at times some of the ad inserts seemed random and egregious. like mid sentence and every 10 minutes. that seems to have stopped though. plenty of room for improvement.
once a year they delete your entire subscription list. figuring if you can't remember to install a selection back then you must not listen to it enough! I don't need another parent; and this is totally bogus of a way to treat your costumer. and if you can't remember a strange way part of that podcast title is spelled; then u r out of luck regretting it back in your list. otherwise the player works fine; but be kind to yourself by getting and using a different pod-cast player!
Even when I made a playlist, I could never find the playlist I'd made to play from it. Even when I downloaded episodes, AND set it to only play downloaded episodes, it would stop playing randomly, mid-episode, & I'd have to go all the way through the podcast backlog to THAT episode to pick it up again. I thought maybe making an account would change that. It didn't. This app just sucks. I genuinely don't know how it was pushed so high to the top of app options for podcasts.
It's a great app for recording with friends on a smartphone but it's not so hot for listening to podcasts. The app is not always downloading episodes when they're published and I keep missing episodes because the app is inconsistent with retrieving and downloading all episodes that are published on a particular channel.
I've recently been logged out by the app and upon logging back in I've now lost years of curated podcast lists, lost years of listening hours and lost all saved playlists. I'm a paid subscriber and have sent a message through the app asking for a solution which a week later is still unanswered. Simply not good enough. A 'Were sorry, it was a glitch' won't fix my problem and it seems I'm not the only one. Extremely disappointed.
use it often to listen to go my favorite sports team on Thursdays, distractible on monday and Friday, BCC on wednesdays and used to be before it stopped airing. BrainLeak on tuesdays. just wish they had video as well instead of audio only that's the only drawback for me. sometimes an issue where it just stops if you pause for a few seconds and you have to close and reopen app.
it was sufficient until the update on April 15th or so. now none of the followed podcasts are able to play. there is some sort of error message. I'd post a picture but I don't think I can do that. I cannot find within the app or here about the app how to leave feedback or questions for the developers so I'm just leaving this review. I've twice sent more information. it works for a period of time and then I get unknown errors. normally problems occur after updates. then, after some days, works 🤷
A very functional, but annoying app. Advertisements aren't overwhelming, but are ever present. They cannot be removed unless you purchase a membership. You can create playlists, which is an excellent feature. But the controls for adding items to playlists, downloading episodes, etc, are all extraordinarily clunky.
Kind of just works, not too many intrusive ads, has the basic features you would want. I have used it for a couple of years, and I'm not feeling the need to switch to anything else for now. As a free alternative, it's good. A downside is that it sometimes doesn’t skip over episodes you've pretty much completed.
Great podcasts and so many ways to set preferences and manage your account. I was worried when I got the notice from Google that they were ending their podcasting service. Turns out to be the best thing that happened as it pushed me to find something so much better, and this is it. Two year update: Still using it. Still happy with it.
