Al Jazeera podcasts downloaded automatically. I never subscribed to Al Jazeera news podcasts, but they were in my downloads with the items I did choose. Consequently, I uninstalled the app. Another problem I had with the app was that I would download programs at home, then go for a walk to listen to them. The app would still use mobile data. A one-hour program would eat up 400M of mobile data, for a program that I downloaded before I left. The app I use now doesn't eat up data like that.
Reviews for Podcast Player
← Back to Podcast PlayerThis app has completely ceased to function. It went from being a great little app to a slow loading advertisement monster. I literally can't even get a podcast to start, let alone play an entire episode. The podcasts now stall, take 5 minutes to start at all, and have a loud obnoxious video that pops up (after taking ages to load in the first place) the second you hit the play button. Completely unusable.
I opened the app on my device. I already made an account with this app. Log out. Then opened again. It seems like the problems I am having are most of podcasts I subscribed are gone and only the recent ones I just subscribe is there. Refreshing the app. Log out and losing more of my subscribed podcasts. I'm glad that the app works and it continues even my phone is off. But losing the podcasts I really like is disappointing. The Podcast Player is free. There is a lot of trending ones here.
What happened? Up until about a week ago this app was fantastic. I loved it and listen to podcasts every day! However, for a few days the podcast came in like they were speeding and now they are running very slow, like it takes twice the time. Are the programers aware of this issue? Thank you for your Speedy response! I reset the speed as you suggested in the email and it worked perfectly. I realize now that it was probably my fault for bumping the speed indicator by accident. Thanks again!
Love the podcasts, but they stop abruptly. In the middle of a show, for no particular reason, the podcast will just stop. It doesn't just pause itself; in order to pick up where I left off I have to search for it again, find that specific episode again, and try to find where it cut out. This is a real pain when since I listen a lot while I'm driving, in which case I can't look for it at the time. This has happened the entire time I've been using the app but it's become much more often lately.
This thing has video ads. On a podcast player. I download my podcasts on wifi, to listen on long drives so I don't have to use my data. Only for this thing to play a video ad, defeating the point of downloading the podcasts. Because now my data is used for the ad. Also the ads are becoming more annoying. Don't download. There are better podcast players out there.
Why does the subscribed podcast list come prepacked with several episodes of podcasts I don't care about? Bad start. I had to delete them one by one. After that, the app is not bad; much better than YouTube Music as a podcast player, actually. Two suggestions: make it easier to slow down speed of play (without having to go to max speed first - a slider would be nice); and allow me to have my queue as a start page in the app.
So, as with sone other reviews, it has suddenly begun having issues. I can not seem to turn it off without force stopping it. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same issue. And, no I will not send you a screen shot or anything else. You have apparently been working on these same glitches for months and haven't been able to fix it, so my additional information will not help you. Moving on.
Thought this was a cool app, but the ads are too intrusive. I'm fine with some ads, but not the constantly changing ads while a podcast is playing. When I look at my screen, I want to see what podcast is being played, not a constant stream of ads. Plus, hard to believe it doesn't contribute to battery drain. I miss Google Podcasts. :( I'll be looking for an alternative.
It works well for podcasts that you are subscribed to. But it's difficult to "try out" a new podcast. You are unable to listen to a podcast that you aren't subcribed to. So you have to subscribe to it, in order to download episodes. Kinda a bother. But only if you like to try out new podcasts all the time. I may subscribe to 1 or 2 new podcasts a month, so it's not so big of a deal.
pretty good app. would like to see some changes, like playing podcasts from oldest to newest, but otherwise it's great. after using it for a few weeks now, it rarely if ever updates my podcasts with new episodes, even when I manually refresh, it often fails to update. it does not always auto play the next episode in the queue, it adds episodes to queue that I don't select and it's always whining about not having downloaded so it will use mobile data, as if I care. it's annoying and I may quit.
Enjoy this app. Broad selection of podcasts to choose from. App interface is sometimes less than smooth to use, and things that seem intuitive, like playing the next episode don't always happen. Occasionally, the previous episode will autoplay. Seems to be related to how the podcasts are uploaded. All in all, it's a small annoyance for a great free product.
too buggy. worked great the first time I opened it, then the following day, I couldn't unsubscribe to the podcasts it just dumped into my pool, and I couldn't add another podcast to it. it also tries to fool you into settling up alerts and making it sound like you couldn't heard the podcast in the background if you didnt...I just need to shut my screen off, and it continued to play just fine w/o turning everything on. feels like a scam. ...you had one job.
Wish I had read reviews instead of just seeing the rating. No idea how this app has a 4.8 star rating (all the recent reviews are bad). The ads are so obnoxious. It's almost impossible to close some of them without "clicking" the ad because the X box in the corner is so tiny. Annoyed that I'll have to transition all my stuff to another app after following the podcasts I like, downloading episodes etc.
I liked this at first but the ads became very annoying and also took up a lot of battery. I wouldn't have cared if it showed a picture ad, but it shows videos that play non stop, draining your battery. Many of the ads are the very annoying full screen video ads and they are difficult to close. Because of that I decided to look for something else. If it wasn't for that, I would have given this 5 stars. It's nice and simple. The only thing I didn't like is that it plays podcasts new to old
I hated it. I'm an experienced app user, and found this one confusing to navigate. I took a while to find how to unsubscribe from a podcast. There are no apparent ways to filter searches. Sorting was single tiered. I played with it briefly, times that was wasted when I could've been listening. I uninstalled in frustration.
I recently changed podcast apps and this one works really well for me. But, because I don't know tech well and get frustrated when I don't know the tricks I didn't know how to get rid of the long list of episodes on each one that I had already listened to. Sent a quick message asking how, and got a reply in less than 6 hours. Ani was kind while teaching me, but the real amazing thing was that a couple of days later Ani reached out to make sure everything worked for me!
Easily the worst podcast player I ever used. I tried so hard to make it work for months. Even paid for ad free. It was terrible. Would randomly decide it didn't want to download podcasts. Skipped around randomly within episodes, even playing downloaded episodes. "cannot play the next episode due to a broken source" - then would play it anyway. Long announcements about using mobile data, even after I approved using it. Trash. Stay far away.
On initial install it subscribes you to about 10 podcasts that have nothing to do with my interests. It has the option to remove them but not all podcasts respond to this. UPDATE: After a response to this post, I tried again and they did get removed this time so, who knows. I'm using the version with ads and you will get lots of those ones that you think you're closing but they still take you to the product. I also get the "broken link" error often. Not sure what's causing that.
Works in a pinch but lacks many features I'm looking for, so I'm uninstalling. They automatically subscribe you to ten totally random podcasts with no easy way to unsubscribe. You can't search for individual episodes and there is no way to build a queue of selected episodes, which is crazy to me. You also can't mark episodes you want to listen to later. You can't quickly adjust the speed, you have to click through every single speed until you land on the right one. Annoying physical ads, etc.
