It's just a bad app. Adding to a queue is not intuitive and it doesn't matter how many times you tick played - stuff will start from nowhere again and again. It's bad at remembering where you left, it doesn't start at the most logical place: your library. Sometimes the queue is accessible, sometimes you can't even find the button for it.
Reviews for Podimo - Podcasts & Audiobooks
← Back to Podimo - Podcasts & AudiobooksPodimo service seems fine, but the app just annoys me to bits, I find the interface unintuative and some notification bubbles won't disappear for unclear reasons. The interface for Android auto has been stuck for me, not updating the podcasts I follow nor updating the episodes for the podcasts I can see. (Seems like it's been this way since week 45, 2023) Overall I just use this app because some of the podcasts I like to listen to are only available through Podimo, otherwise I would switch...
App is just broken almost on pixel phones. Half the time it doesnt open properly, it doesnt work with car play in spite of supporting it. Also having to pay for podcast that then do tons of ads suck.
New library UI sucks. It was already not great, but now it's somehow worse, cus you have to click more buttons to get around and it's harder to reach. I just need two easy levels of categorisation: saves (for overview) and downloads (for near future listening). And split between podcasts/audiobook. Ideally downloads would be the frontpage or max 1 click away and not tucked away like new update. Also, add auto download option already!! Great timing with price increase btw. Really feels worth it
A bit expensive and raises the price without notification. Also the podcasts don't automatically continue playing when one episode is done, which is quite annoying.
Horrible navigation You can "add" audiobooks or "follow" podcasts, but they end up nowhere. At least I can't find them. I have to download the items for them to show up in my library it seems. Can't create a playlist with all the items. Furthermore when I try to play an audiobook it keeps playing a podcast instead. Apps and experiences as bad as Podimo you have to search far and wide for. Gave Podimo another go solely to listen to ONE book, now it says I completed listening even though I didn't.
Unfortunately this app is a bit of a disappointment. There has been technical issues from the getgo and none of them have really been fixed. Just to mention a couple: the app refuses to play audiobooks (after you've stopped and then return to the audiobook) if you're further than 0-15 min. In the book which is incredibly frustrating, and if you're listening on Chromecast and unlock your phone it jumps far back in time. Please fix these issues with the next update.
It works more or less as it should, and is fine as a podcast app. Has a few good exclusive podcasts, mainly for a Danish audience. I have some minor gripes: Small podcasts don't always seem to update as they should. I have experienced this a few times, but I'm not entirely sure it's the app messing up and not the podcast uploaders. Sometimes it messes up the queue order in different ways. It doesn't always open probably, and opens with a black screen. Just needs to be shut down and opened.
Not sure how good the content is, both podcasts that I enjoy that are on the platform don't show up when searching for them, so accessing them was a tedious process. You have to go back into the app to access media controls which is just absurd. If you tap the forward or reverse button on your earphones, the episode either starts over or skips, instead of jumping back or forward 15 seconds or so. For the price it's really badly made. Terrible UI and UX. But it's better than nothing.
Good shows, but the app itself is broken on Pixel 9 pro. Large number of seemingly random episode ranges are missing from the episode list when opening the app. The missing episodes changes also randomly. If I want to listen to a show from the first episode, I need to constantly scroll through all the newer episodes to find the one I need. And when I want to listen to the next, its all over again. Auto play picks episodes that are FAR ahead of what i'm listening to...
Layout not intuitive, not enough world wide content. Spotify has more content and has a much better interface. When you are playing an episode it's not possible to go to all episodes straight from there. Also when I open the app I would like to see the content that I'm following not what you think I would like, or what you would like me to listen to. It has potential but I think they will probably run out of money before they can make it a success.
Forced to use the app because of certain podcasts. Terrible app. Very messy, hard to find the actual podcasts you follow, no way to listen to podcasts from the beginning, you need to manually queue up one and one episode. Only focused on "latest episode" and podcasts you're not following. Next and previous buttons skip the whole episode rather than jumping back and forth to catch stuff you missed. Very annoying.
The app certainly has potential. I like that the UI is simple. Everything would have been fine, except that there are major problems with the most basic functions. Some of the major problems: - search functionality is not able to find a podcast episode by title, even if title is copied exactly. - often, older episodes from podcasts fail to load. - it is not possible to scroll through the list of podcasts with many episodes. When you scroll, it just load about 20 and then makes you wait
I get everything I need here. But the app is laggy when loading it when I return to it, and when I cue forward or backwards.
Love all podcasts and audio books available in the app, however, it is really annoying there is no 'continue listening' list.
Podimo, please fix this app. It's so incredibly buggy. Couple of examples: when a podcast has been downloaded, why are you still trying to play it over data/WiFi? If you don't have stable internet it keeps stopping. And what's the point of a play queue if it just stops playing after each podcast (it doesn't do this every time but at least half of the time) and sometimes the whole queue disappears as well. Also finished podcast come back in the queue randomly.
A few good exclusive podcasts, but app missing basic functions. Media controls on headset skips to beginning of episode or jumps to next queued episode, instead of going backward or forward a few seconds. The queue will randomly remove podcasts if switching to another episode. Irrelevant podcasts being pushed. Just copy the ui from existing podcast apps instead of trying to do something that doesn't work. Paid podcasts have periods with no content during holidays, so what am I paying for?
I hate being forced to download an app for one single podcast, instead of being able to just listen to it on the damn website. Also not a fan of being advertised "free episodes" only to find out that there's "bonus episodes" that are, in fact, NOT free. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth
Experience completely ruined by fundamental technical problems: Constantly crashes: App freezes and crashes during downloads AND when deleting downloads. Unusable for 30 seconds after every download. Downloads don't work offline: Downloaded episodes randomly stop mid-playback without internet. Sometimes turning data on/off helps, sometimes not - completely unpredictable. Progress disappears: Episodes listened to offline aren't marked as 'played' when you go back online. unacceptable problems.
I do like the content available on the app and the basic look and feel is good. However there are a lot of issues like podcasts taking a long time to load before playing and the app taking a long time to load upon start up. The app uses an insane amount of data! Also I'm really missing the ability to skip 15-30 seconds within a podcast using headphone controls like on Spotify. Now it skips to the next podcasts, not great.
